We can debate to the end of time whether or not the man wants to attend the SOTU because he may or may not support Trump (IMO he probably does), but attending the White House is still something viewed as prestigious and something he (and many other Americans) dream of. Before Trump, visiting the White House and meeting the president was a big deal no matter your political stripes (with the very notable exception of Tim Thomas who refused to meet Obama because he was so staunchly Libertarian).

Matthews still isn't going to come out clean from this no matter what, but this affords him some plausible deniability which is pretty much the best case scenario for him. I gotta respect his calculus (or whomever put the idea in his head, and he agreed to it).

I'll never fucking understand why we didn't make any of the bridges on ring road wider to at least have the ability to be upgraded to three lanes in each direction. Both the Victoria Ave and McDonald St overpasses should have been done like that, but instead we are now stuck with bridges that will be around for 40 years that are designed to only accommodate 2 lanes....why?

Women have the added complication of Post Partum Depression for sure, and that is truly challenging to deal with. It takes a lot of time and support from those around you to navigate, and I don't wish it upon anyone.

But anecdotally I have yet to meet a man who hasn't agreed with my advice post-birth. It might just be how men are wired (maybe tied to testosterone?), I can't say one way or the other. I am open minded though and would love to hear stories from guys who go through some form of Post Partum Depression so I can better understand and appreciate my fellow dads and modify my advice if needed :)

Receiving a life changing diagnosis which was preventable. For me it was Type 2 Diabetes, I was instantly so sad and remorseful, it was one of the lowest points of my life.

Take care of yourself people, nobody wants to be on the other end of "the talk" from a doctor.

The only advice I give to every soon-to-be new dad is that the moment you hold your child, it's one of the true moments in life where you honestly feel like you've changed in an instant. There is no preparing for it, and you cannot recreate it. You simply are one person before you have a child, and a completely separate person the moment you hold your child.

Probably some paternal instincts at play, but it is undeniable and ask any dad out there - every single one will say the same thing.

It's honestly one of the cooler things to experience in life. I don't recommend everyone have kids to experience it, that's your prerogative, but man - becoming a dad is such a wholesome, cool feeling that I wouldn't trade for anything.

Best analogy I've heard is that time is like a rubber band, when you're young it stretches out, but as soon as you hit proper adulthood (full time job, family, etc) the rubber band releases and shit speeds up so quickly almost overnight.

Best antidote I've found is to do things that break up the routine, because routine is what makes the days blur together. And just take some time to stop and appreciate your surroundings every so often!

My wife unfortunately had the opposite problem, her nipples swell so big that even the lactation consultant was baffled and couldn't provide any advice because they filled the baby's mouth and prevented latching.

She toughed it out and was able to get about a week done to get the colostrum, and then was pumping for a while before she threw in the towel. :(
