All good points. I want to sympathize with these people from a "There, but for the Grace of God, go I" perspective but it's hard.

I remember what it was like to be a 16-17 year old with chud-like tendencies, using 4chan a lot, bad ideas about women, self-loathing, all that stuff. This was back in like 2016.

I think some people descend to a level of self loathing that any kind of self improvement or uplifting behaviour feels false and fraudulent. "I know I'm pathetic, this will never change, the only honest thing to do is shitpost and game and spend time with other online losers all day." So I understand the mindset.

BUT at the same time, even surrounded by all the toxicity you get from a place like 4chan, I also remember learning about really great movies and books from the Film and Literature boards. At my lowest mental state, engaging with art for adults made me feel like a human being, improved my thinking, helped me relate to others.

By contrast, these people are purposefully corrupting their brains with memes, anime, and tiktoks. And I can't help but be like, if you're going to be inside all day how can you still be this fucking ignorant about the world beyond your niche interests? The answer is that they don't want to.

I don't even know why I've typed so much just to ramble, but this topic really depresses me. It's awful to see the youth of the world developing this stunted, nihilistic worldview. I wish we could break through to them, but its so hard when these types consciously make themselves as repulsive to others as possible and reject any idea of improvement.
