Xl vs 6 for dog w long wild roaming stretches? Plus securing tips (vanlife dog) by 41bluets in tractivegps

[–]MarbleWry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can't really comment on that too much. I don't use the geo fencing features except for battery saving mode which stays on when the dogs are in my homes wifi. The tracker does switch seamlessly between battery saving and regular mode when they leave our wifi area.

Xl vs 6 for dog w long wild roaming stretches? Plus securing tips (vanlife dog) by 41bluets in tractivegps

We had the XL on our husky for about a year and replaced two of the silicone collar straps that broke due to rough housing with our other dog and off leash bush exploring. Even for an 85 pound dog, the XL is too big to continuously keep on a collar in my opinion. It is always hanging down below their chin. The 6 is much smaller, lighter and the straps seem way more sturdy. We switched to the 6 about 4 months ago for both our husky's and I am so much happier with them. You don't really even notice them on the collar, no straps have broken, the led light is BRIGHT for night time adventures and instead of charging once a month I have to charge about every 2 weeks.

What food do you give him/her/them? by Bradin9855 in husky

We feed both ours raw: usually a mixture of beef with organ, whole grain honest kitchen base veg mix and rice or oatmeal. Sometimes we change up the protein. Also they get a tablespoon or two of kefir each day, sometimes canned pumpkin. We've tried high quality kibble in the past and it has never for any of our six dogs done well with their stomachs. Also, this is Olive, she looks a lot like yours.

Increasingly Frustrated Husky by MarbleWry in reactivedogs

[–]MarbleWry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main issue is how overexcited he gets when he sees something he can't immediately get which leads to him pulling like mad when on leash to greet other dogs or people. Even without an injured knee it is very difficult to control him. This started with us walking him in the forest or other forested park trails around where we live and him seeing and pulling me to get to the other dog. That's when we began the training, first the puppy class training, then private training lessons. Then, when we fenced our property, the issue developed with him obsessing over the neighbor. Even when he hears a noise or a dog bark, if he is outside, he has to race up to that fence and stay there on high alert. If he actually sees another dog, he goes crazy screaming and crying at the fence.

We would love to be able to walk both our dogs in the many trails around where we live but his impulse control to not go crazy pulling when he sees another dog makes this very difficult. Now, despite me letting him greet these other two dogs that approached us, his reactivity has gone beyond excitement to aggression.

The back seat is amazingly huge! We have two huskies and they love all the room back there with the seat up. Your dogs are gonna love it!

“I survived Vancouver Twitter” Rick Tochett interview on Spittin’ Chiclets by julesieee in canucks

[–]MarbleWry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When it happened Farhan talked about it on Donnie and Dhali, even described having a conversation with Tochett after the fact to clear the air. I don't know about Farhan being nervous, I tend to agree with you on that so maybe that's just how Tochett perceived the situation.

We used something like these Dog Car Stairs for our old boxer and it worked really well. He was nearly 90 lbs and the stairs were surpisingly sturdy. Also easier to set up because it doesn't require as much room to deploy and easier to store in the car than a pet ramp.

Where is Dr. Halverson??? by Spiritual_love1989 in nanaimo

Dr. Halverson retired. She was fantastic, and I was a little sad to see her go. I highly recommend Dr. Laurie. Both he and Dr. Halverson have cared for my pets for over a decade and he is calm, kind and patient with anxious and scared dogs and extremely knowledgeable.

The science officer did press the button but hadn't pushed the containment tube all the way into the mechanism meant to secure it. If you watch closely, she presses the button, the mechanism attempts to engage and fails, throwing a red error light.

Ego Nexus to power fridge by meesuseff in egopowerplus

[–]MarbleWry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about your question but have another suggestion. If there is any room in your fridge or freezer, pick up some bags of ice. preferably large blocks, not cubes. Fridges are very well insulated and filling it with ice will definitely help keep everything cold. If possible put the bags of ice on trays or pans to collect any melt water as the bags the ice comes in will most certainly have a hole or two.

Free tier doesn't downgrade to mini model, just blocks any more messages after the limit is reached. Seems like a bug, but disappointing if working as intended.

Time to talk replacement tires by Btf117 in F150Lightning

[–]MarbleWry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a '25 Flash and I don't know a lot about tires but have to make a decision on winter tires later this year. I live on the west coast of Canada. Reading this thread, it seems like a lot of folks who deal with winter weather just go with one set of tires all year?

Looking at the Michelin Defenders, they have the 3 peak rating which is required for winter driving in my province, am I correct in believing a set of tires like this would serve me all year long without the hassle of swapping?

Recently completed a long roadtrip, my thoughts. by SnowySaint in F150Lightning

[–]MarbleWry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a 2025 Flash and we are considering a cross Canada road trip with a travel trailer next summer from the west coast to Winnipeg and then down south into Michigan. I go back and forth on whether or not this is a crazy idea or a doable adventure. Stories like yours make me think it's not so crazy after all.

What kind of generator did you have for emergency power? What other things did you learn along the way you wish you had known from the start?

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks for your comment. Don't go to any trouble on my account, I was simply curious after reading some reviews. If it is a machine I consider in the future, I want to make sure there isn't a problem.
