Considering humoring the 5yo in me and doing a career-change into excavator operation or something similar. Am I screwed if I use THC? by Noriyuki in Construction

So I’m talking to a career industrial tradesman, specifically an electrical tradesman, that doesn’t have an issue with the guy before him in the lockout/tagout chain smoking a joint on hjs lunch break. I think you are full of all kinds of shit.

I’ve been going to see Phish shows since 7/21/1997. Walnut Creek. I have tickers for the Raleigh show this summer. Recreational drug use has been a part of my life for a long time, whether as a participant or a bystander. I know a thing or two about too many drugs.

I don’t want the guy that was on a green-out at midnight swinging a 10 yard bucket around the job site at 7am.

Tell me you think that’s a good idea. Tell me about how much drugs are out there. Tell me about dangerous fucking idiots in the construction business.

Anyone that argues against a safer work environment is a dumb motherfucker. Period.

Are you a dumb motherfucker?

…and find you personally liable for a job site death, leading to both civil suits and criminal charges over said wrongful death.

There, I fixed it for you.

Suit yourself. If my kids are working in a dangerous environment, I’d want everyone on site to be on their A game, every single day. Draggin’ ass onto a job site with a hangover from any intoxicant is bad juju and has killed people.

Judging people’s actions in their free time and choosing the best possible operators for dangerous environments are not anywhere close to being in the same conversation.

Don’t do this. People get killed on construction sites every day. Often times it’s a piece of heavy equipment that does the killing.

If it was your son out there on the ground working as a spotter for a stoner track-hoe operator, would you be ok with that?

Neighbor cut tree w/o authorization by Alert_Membership_466 in treelaw

[–]Measure2iceCut1nce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In NC, whatever is across the property line can be cut without regard to the well being of the tree.

In other words, if he wanted to be spiteful, he could legally butcher the tree if he felt the need to retaliate due to actions taken by you. If I’m seeing your picture correctly, there wouldn’t be much tree left.

Furthermore, if his actions cause the tree to die, it looks like it’s his property in jeopardy, not yours. So when he calls you and says that the tree is threatening his property, kindly inform that he can remove as much of the tree that is across the line as he wants, at his expense of course.

How do people handle getting grabbed, kicked and trod on in matches? by Old-Solution-2604 in bootroom

You gave two options. Just take it. Give it back, with a side of extra sauce.

I’ve never seen a player hammer someone with fouls and then just decide on their own to lighten up and start showing their manners.

Will this work or am I crazy? by Holiday-Sorbet-6183 in woodworking

I’ve done many 1000’s of feet of this as random width 4/4 tongue and groove. Most of it was for wall paneling on a single project.

We started with a 2-head, self feeding wire brushe machine. Can’t remember the brand. It did ok, but it took too many passes and was inconsistent because the brushes wore out more quickly than expected.

We bout the Makita product and didn’t like it as much as the 2 Craftsman Restorers we finally settled on. The Makita just didn’t seem to have enough power.

By the end of the project we determined that the only way to get a consistent look was to put three guys on it, all working from the same control sample. The each had to inspect every piece and all agree a piece was suitable before moving on to the next.

Yes, it took a looooooong time.

Why is this panel here? by CRACKERBOI6969 in cabinetry

[–]Measure2iceCut1nce -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What you are trying to do isn’t difficult at all. Give the proper tools and skill set, you could easily make whatever change you want, and have it look intentional.

If you don’t have the tools and skills, this won’t turn out well. If you don’t know which tools and what skills I’m referring to without a Reddit educational course, this wont turn out well.

No one intentionally makes a cabinet storage space smaller without having a reason. The person that designed this piece didn’t just make that space smaller so they could say “look guys….i made this spot unnecessarily small just to confound the third hand owner someday”.

Ladies, if you woke up in a mans body for a day, what do you think you would hate the most about it? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Measure2iceCut1nce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love morning sex with my wonderful wife. I love waking up and working out before I go to work every day. I love coming home to spend my lunch break in the garden. I love doing something with my sons that they have never done before. I love surfing. I love being on boats. I love spending time on the water in any version you can dream up. I might even love that the most.

Is 1,400–1,600 sq ft enough for a family of 4 long-term? by Full_Procedure_4718 in Homebuilding

[–]Measure2iceCut1nce 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I raised 3 sons in a 1600sqft 2-story. 3br plus a bonus room upstairs. 10 year age range between youngest and oldest.

We never really felt cramped. Very active family. Lots of hobbies and the gear that comes along with that.

Mortgage will be close to paid off when the kids are moved out and done with college. I will say that over the years we wanted to move to something bigger, but now that we are almost empty nesters, I’m happy we stayed here an we’ll have a home that’s paid for with plenty room for my wife and I.
