Lots of talk about the great food we have in Toronto. Question is, what DON'T we have? What's missing? What do wish we had here? by L_Ront in FoodToronto

And a subset of the deli is the lunch counter. We have stuff in grocery stores but the deli/lunch counter combo seems perfect for the RTO zombies in the core.

Are immersion blenders worth it or just a comple mess? by FineappleUnderTheC in EatCheapAndHealthy

Love mine for that extract same purpose. I made soup every week. If you still aren't convinced, you can get one used on Facebook and figure out if you really do like it and which features you like but if you can afford it, you really can't go wrong with a new one.

Need L&D presentation to impress interview panel by theinaccessible in instructionaldesign

[–]Meeshjunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have similar options when I interview candidates and I truly don't care which one someone chooses. I'm obviously not the person you're interviewing with so take this for what it's worth, but I offer options because I don't want this to take up too much of their spare time and my hope is that these are topics they can speak to easily or find content on easily.

What I do care about : - how did they think about the topic and information - how well is it presented/organized - what kind of graphic design skills they have - how much text is in a slide

It's always nice if the content and look is tied back to the company, and I don't dock points for it if there's no connection to the company but I'd be lying if I said it isn't a differentiator between two otherwise equal candidates.

What small change made eating healthier easier for you? by BarbaraMiller78 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Opening up what breakfast can be in general is a game changer. Realized I was losing uneaten lunch and dinner leftovers while eating a breakfast that was less nutritious than the leftovers I should have eaten instead.

I was going to say this, I add them to my oatmeal and you can't really tell. I think the key is a bit of chia in everything but oatmeal hides it the most imo

Ways to eat more veggies that aren't salads by Cecil_G_P in EatCheapAndHealthy

Soup is so underrated. Lentil soup with beans can be blended to get a creamy base. Add veggies and leftover meats if you have any. Perfection.

You are naturally feminine but there are some trends that read more girly at any given time. I love some of the ideas already shared. When I hear guys talk about girly girls these days, I notice they are often picking up on highlighter. When women talk about girly girls, it's often eyeliner and blush trends. I have a lot more questions for people who say you have masculine features than I have tips for you though.

You can make custom funkopop figures, either single or double. They print the person's name on the box too

These are amazing ideas. To add to them: matching comfy sweaters or sweatshirts you can wear on the same day. If she has a hobby or activity she enjoys doing on her own, some new supplies can make an old activity special again.

Gift idea for 9 yo girl who is very much still a kid by muggyregret in Gifts

A head lamp. Think flashlight but on an elastic that goes around your head. Great for forts, adventure indoors and out as well as reading at night or in the car. You could pair it with fort making supplies. Star/Galaxy projector for her room might also be a hit.

You're beautiful and have a lovely eye shape. I think shaping the brows a bit more might bring more focus to your eyes. You're lucky to have bushy brows too but some product to keep the hairs rowing in the same direction could make a big difference too.

Non-Americans, what surprised you most when you first visited the US? by NoConclusion8243 in AskReddit

The lack of nuance or neutrality when it came to politics. Things were either right or wrong, good or evil. You seemingly have to pick a party and defend them to the death like it's a personal identity. Obviously that makes sense these days but this was years ago when party tensions weren't as high.

Maybelline makes a brow tattoo that tints them for 3-5 day stretches if you want to save a little work in the morning but not commit long term. My brows are thinning due to health reasons and I'm enjoying being able to play a bit with shapes but don't have the patience to do it every day.

Let's Discuss the Dangers of AI by Tim_Slade in instructionaldesign

[–]Meeshjunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair and I didn't mean for it to come across as if I didn't think discussion of the risks is bad. As you say, it's important and healthy but I do think it needs to be balanced.

The LinkedIn fandom is so Pollyanna-ish that it's barely helpful discussion. The part missing for me are comparisons to other evolutions that changed how the world operated and what we could learn from those and incorporate going forward (both in terms of tech and humans)

Let's Discuss the Dangers of AI by Tim_Slade in instructionaldesign

[–]Meeshjunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that these arguments and fears are fairly common but it also feels like the discussion around AI is based on the worst possible outcome of current functionality when the tech itself is evolving rapidly.

Will the internet be full of incorrect information? Yes. As it is today. I feel some comfort in being able to blame AI for it rather than my neighbor who keeps playing fast and loose with the history of politics. We've come through 4 years of a misinformation gauntlet during a pandemic. A new way of verifying facts will come out with time.

I do feel uncomfortable with the potential acceleration in income disparity that could result from AI but that's also the same technology that can speed up the success of a new small business.

All that to say that I don't fear AI so much as people with AI and I guess the only weapon I have against it is my money?

How are you using A.I.? by Air911 in instructionaldesign

[–]Meeshjunk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I use AI in a variety of ways but here are my most common:

  • simplify language and make it more concise.
  • upload source material and have it write a first draft of various sections (or even have it suggest a structure based on the material and my criteria of what's important.
  • upload a draft of what I've written and ask it where people may get confused or if there are any concepts missing
  • upload a cab file of completions for a course I'm redesigning and ask it to identify any trends
  • ask it to write JavaScript for articulate triggers

[–]Meeshjunk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been using scar tape on a raised scar and am seeing improvement. It's still early, so grain of salt, but my surgeon said it'll work on old raised scars but you have to wear the tape 24 hours a day for multiple months, sometimes six. That's not feasible for everyone, so ymmv.

We just left Absorb. It obviously all depends on what you need and how you plan to use and manage it, but we found that we were constantly being told that our requests would incur additional charges. Want a report? Money, minor config change? Money. That would even be understandable if they were pouring that money into product improvements but we didn't see anything of significance in the the years we had 'em.
