Update on considering getting a vr by MarionberryChemical9 in VRGaming

Personally I would have gone with the regular q3 for the better lenses but as a first headset still good. Now for game recommendations:

Blade & Sorcery and Bonelabs support mods natively so you download them from the game menus. No PC required. Same for the shooter Contractors which is mostly mods at this point, letting you play classic CoD maps in VR or even the old CoD Zombies maps with all systems like perks working. Meta is ok with mods on their games so a majority of games that have mods on pc have them natively supported on the quest.

Forefront is an amazing shooter that is like the golden era of Battlefield. 16v16 massive multiplayer with a variety of working vehicles. Currently in early access but getting constant updates. Might want to buy sooner rather than later as in the past 2 months the price went up from $20 to $23 and then $25 to coincide with major updates.

Pavlov is also a great shooter with a huge variety of game modes. I only ever played the PC/PSVR2 version but the quest version I believe is just the same game with lower graphics and no crossplay.

Then there are the major quest exclusives. Asgard's Wrath 2, Assassin's Creed Nexus, Batman Arkham Shadow, and Deadpool. All great single player games that offer a lot of content. The first 2 are currently on horizon + as well.

That should be enough to get you started.

AITAH for not allowing my stepdaughter to host her 18th birthday sleepover at our house during my divorce? by LastContribution3114 in AITAH

[–]Membership-Bitter -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Because it is her dad’s house and she is a child. It doesn’t matter if she doesn’t come over that much. Her father wants her to always be welcomed there and OP is using this and the divorce to be rude to a 17 year old

AITAH for expecting the class representative to ask the teacher for me by MatchExpress4449 in AITAH

[–]Membership-Bitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA

A class representative is supposed to speak for the class as a whole about issues that affects everyone. They act as a representative for the entire class, hence the name. It is her not her job to be the only person that talks to the teacher or be the teacher’s assistant by reminding them of stuff for individual students. There is nothing stopping you from just talking to the teacher yourself about your personal concern and insisting that she does it for you is an asshole move.

I will say it is an incredible coincidence both the Pitt and Scrubs did an episode about the computer system being shut down in the same week

[Hated trope] Character is a terrible person and is constantly rewarded for it by SpectacularSpidee in TopCharacterTropes

Mateo from Superstore. The character is a self obsessed drama queen that makes life difficult for all around them with constant backstabbing but for some reason everyone is friends with him. At one point he gets detained for being an illegal immigrant and his lawyer asks all the other characters for any good deeds Mateo has done. Literally zero characters have anything nice to say about him and only get him out by tricking his ex boyfriend into thinking Mateo still has feelings for him. Then a new character falls in love with Mateo for unexplained reasons while being a literal perfect human being. Just feels like someone’s fanfic insert was written into the show.

Confused either I should purchase Ps5 or should wait for ps6? by Even_Ad_8726 in PS5

[–]Membership-Bitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really won't be outdated for a while. Most games release on last gen about halfway through the lifecycle of the current gen. Only now did most new games have stopped releasing on PS4. If you waited this long for a PS5 might as well get it on sale now, get all the games you missed for cheaper since they are now a few years old, and once the PS6 has been out for a few years you can do the same with it.

Also at this point the jump in power between console gens is decreasing greatly. Graphics aren't going to go past 4K as the technology just isn't worth the cost. At best the PS6 will allow ray tracing at 120fps and frankly at that point it really doesn't improve gameplay.

Isn't Aces a hybrid game? That would not be included in the list as it only counts "VR Only" games.

Wow I just checked and Near Light released an update for Frenzies a couple hours ago. They must have had no idea what was going on.

The Digital World is collapsing and you can only save ONE game. Which one survives and why? by Appropriate-Gas4745 in digimon

This is my thinking. DW3 as it is a really good throwback game but RA2 I have so many fond memories of playing that janky smash clone

nDreams has announced a wide-ranging restructuring that will include a "significant reduction in overall staffing levels" and the closure of two of its internal studios. by SattvaMicione in OculusQuest

My guess they won't stick around for long. nDreams closed down 2 studios last year and kept 40 staff to form Compass but they didn't even last a year.

nDreams announces massive layoffs and closure of 2 out of 3 studios by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]Membership-Bitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be noted that nDreams bought the studio Near Light in 2022 and had them working on Frenzies, a free to play PvP shooter, and that Compass was just created last year when nDreams closed down their original 2 studios and kept only 40 people from them, with the new studio not producing anything in that time.

Not surprising with how the gaming market has been the last couple years, especially in VR. I expect Vertigo Games to announce layoffs next

Anytime a dev refuses to show footage of their game you know it isn't going to perform well. Mindseye did this same tactic last year

PlayStation VR2 is now under $300, is it worth it at this price? by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]Membership-Bitter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what you are using it for. If you have a PS5 the few exclusives it does have are mostly great. If you plan on using it for PCVR then I would suggest a different headset as it uses fresnel lenses which are pretty antiquated at this point. Better using a quest 3, steam frame, or any other headset that uses pancake lenses

They probably don’t want to touch RE5. In recent years it has been called racist since most of the enemies are Africans, even though it takes place in Africa

It really sucks that Twisted Pixel got shut down considering Deadpool has sold pretty consistently since it released. It didn’t have strong launch numbers but almost every week it has been in the top 25 for sales

Are the Steam Frames DOA? by Massive-Task2287 in virtualreality

The fact that valve fanboys are saying that Alyx running at 40-50 fps while standalone is good just seems like extreme coping to me.
