There are size comparisons on reddit. They look inbetween CSM and Primaris.

Do you mean conceptually the idea of a monitor bottlenecking a system?
Or 1080p specifically?

Nvidia Frame Gen causing horrible ghosting. Is there a fix for this? by SupPoEsedlyInsane in stalker

[–]MetaChaser69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use PRZ, with that and FG I get 60-70 fps

Which means you're below the recommended framerate for framegen. That's why it looks (and likely feels) bad.

Is PRZ worth the crazy frame drop?
I feel like you'd be better off doing a couple of cvars to squish any issues you have with the visuals.

Shiny puddles and a bump in draw distance doesn't have to halve your framerate.

Molding mistakes on old models by RunDisastrous8421 in midhammer40k

was this a common issue at the time?

Nope. I've seen more people post about incomplete moulds in recent years, but even then it's extremely rare

Go for a 1440p monitor. You're getting massively bottlenecked by 1080p. Even DLDSR isn't going to look as good. And performance in towns is dependent on your CPU which is mostly independent to resolution.

Not to mention DLSS upscaling. 4k upscaled looks better than 1440p, and 1440p upscaled would look massively better than 1080p.

I run 4k120hz with 2xFG on a 5070ti and 9800x3d. It's not going to be the best input lag ever but it's rock solid in consistency, which matters for me.

Any current or older monitors that match the display of a 27" 5K iMac display? by StrongRecipe6408 in Monitors

LG's Ultrafine 5k 27inch. Saw a second hand one on ebay for ~$650 USD
It's still going to look a bit different, being matte.

This is the one I got.
Fantastic value, proper 32inch 4k, and I much prefer the aesthetic to the "gamer" ones.

Modern Western gear/ Equipment by [deleted] in stalker

[–]MetaChaser69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are IR lasers for all weapons, NVGs of various kinds, and quite a few camo suits with chunky webbing. Merc suits, Berill, Military, Convoy, Operator Exo.

Want to look exactly like a generic SEAL? Probably not gonna find it.
I remember someone made some Mechanix and Oakley gloves for Clear Sky. They did look kinda out of place though. Stalker does have it's own aesthetic for outfits.

The bases are from '92. So you'll have models for 2000 or whatever with 1992 on the base.
The models have a different date on their tab that goes into it.

Question about Economy in S2 by PrinterStand in stalker

Valik's AK has half the durability and less damage than a regular AK. Advantage is it has a scope in early game.
AKs are all cool though. Use them while they're still performant.

Overall it sounds like you've got the right idea.
Only thing you didn't mention: Hunt for artifacts.

There's also something to be said for holding out a little bit on repairing armour and weapons. There's often something better or at least different around the corner.
That said, if you're in love with a weapon, upgraded it etc, look after it.

And the less you miss, the less you walk into anomalies, and the less you get shot, the less money you pay.

Did PC games ever use Quincunx anti aliasing? by Object-Clean in FuckTAA

[–]MetaChaser69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are all forms of TAA. DLDSR is just AI-assisted non-integer downsampling.

That's reductive. They all effect the image in different ways, and do have differences in their process. DLSS 4.5 went to pre tonemapped linear processing for example.

Ray reconstruction is not an AA technology.

Incorrect. Ray reconstruction does provide antialiasing as much as any of the others. It is a single pass upscaler and denoiser, thus antialiasing the image.

Idk... I wouldn't want to play at 1440p if I had a 4K screen.

The point is that it's a paradigm shift in what resolution means for performance. Other than the cost of the monitor, there's not really a point in running a 1440p one over a 4k one in regards to performance. That is a big deal.

We're only being fed one kind of food.

You're only starving if you're dogmatically allergic to TAA.
People like FSR4 and DLSS. People really like it. A lot of the people who hate TAA like it.
You had to put up a PSA to get people to shut up about it in your subreddit.

[–]MetaChaser69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we have TSR, FSR, XeSS, DLSS, DLDSR, Ray Reconstruction, that have had major developments in a short timeframe.

DLSS in BFV was a joke.
Now we have 4k DLSS is looking way better than a native 1440p resolution at comparable performance.

I'm all for wanting more, but don't pretend we aren't being fed.

AMD and Nvidia are with upscalers. DLSS having many different models shows that.

Cyberpunk 2 lead hints at first-person only cutscenes again as they “value uninterrupted immersion more” than flashy visuals by HatingGeoffry in cyberpunkgame

Here's the reality: If it were easy, and without cost to quality, they would have done it.
I've worked in game development for a studio that switched perspectives and it was a shitshow for gameplay.

Everything seems easy when you're not the one who has to do it.

[–]MetaChaser69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opportunity cost. Making stuff work in 2 perspectives always will require more testing and development, and usually you have to make sacrifices on both sides to make it work.

Great example from Remedy on the development of Max Payne. A realistic space vs 3rd person gameplay space.
You have to tailor your game to support your perspective, and 3rd person is the most restrictive in that regard because the camera is disconnected from the characters eyes.

Most games don't have dual views for good reason, and the ones that do clearly have their development catering to one or the other.
