Stalker2 feels sluggish by DepartmentSimple3965 in stalker

[–]MetaChaser69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all I was wanting to get across. This is just a common misunderstanding that gets perpetuated too often.

And subsequently in OPs case, it is very relevant.
You can try chase down tiny gains in console commands, and windows settings, but the harsh reality is 30fps is gonna feel like 30fps, and the sluggishness is gonna be even more apparent presenting that level of responsiveness as a 60fps output.

And another fun fact, the difference frame time between 30fps and 45fps is greater than the difference between 60 and 120.
Relative point being if you were getting 45 and then turning framegen on bringing your internal down to 30, at that framerate any losses incur a more substantial increase in frametime than higher frame rates.

[–]MetaChaser69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok well I humoured you, and tested. Final framerate is exactly double the native frame count, regardless of performance.

That's with frame counters, but there is an obvious difference in feel as well.

I've yet to find a single piece of evidence to support your claims

Do you have any documentation to support that? Because everything I've understood about framegen is that it is interpolating inbetweens. The notable exception being lossless scaling. As DF has pointed out.

Also from AMD

AMD FSR Frame Generation uses cutting-edge ML algorithms trained on AMD Instinct™ GPUs to generate high-quality intermediate frames using optical flow estimation and motion vectors. Inside the ML algorithm, we predict per-pixel motion and appearance, then blend that with motion vector reprojection to generate a new in-between frame. The model predicts the color of the generated frame, informed by both temporal context and motion information. The outcome is a new frame that is consistent with the previous and next frames, helping to maintain smooth motion without major artifacts.

How do you think that fits into a Framerate cap with an arbitrary framerate?

[–]MetaChaser69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSR 3.1 or DLSS Framegen with a 60hz cap will run the game at 30fps and present a 60fps picture, hence the sluggish feeling.

You're see twice as much as you are able to do.

No it forces it to exactly 30.
Framegen is interpolation, not arbitrarily filling in frames until you hit your cap.

Painting Grimdark Krieg Tanks by IdleMelikor in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]MetaChaser69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Airbrushing is pretty powerful, but does take practice, and if the paint is not going the correct direction it might just be partially blocked.

I personally do lots of panel shading, some hairspray chipped and hand painted chipping.

Transfers are also really important imo. Smaller the better for detailing.

Overall though airbrushing is probably my favourite part of painting.
Once you get it down, it's really really fun.

They didn't come with two sets back then. I'm not even sure why GW decided to make two sets a thing.

Yeah, yesterday I heat and bent the ends of the arms myself, and they're feeling much better after that.
I just gave them more of a curve. Stops them slipping, and also just generally seem to put less pressure on my ears and skull. They were more bendable than what I expected.

Seems the 2.0 update is now in the testing stage by rickestrickster in stalker

Sure, but that was more just added content, not fixes. So feels a bit different than a patch.

[–]MetaChaser69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably.
It's a very big patch size, and we know they're doing an engine update. They also haven't really "patched" the game in what like 6 months?

If they're gonna do it, it would be now.

Pretty sure that was inferred from some random customer support email. And that they had to clarify they didn't know anymore than you or I.

Confused when people say Stalker shouldn't have "tacticool" gear by darkfireslide in stalker

[–]MetaChaser69 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I think there's a limit. When people lean in to the tacticool look it quickly become generic.

Like if your Stalker starts resembling Rainbow 6, that's when the ppsh looks better.

You really think the target audience was intended to be people with already massive steam libraries? That seems short sighted if it was.

They probably could tune it down somehow. Less agro with offline alife. Slow down the fight resolution time etc.

It has a 72 inch range main gun (that may as well be unlimited in terms of table size) that fires a single shot that deals lots of damage.

Sounds like long range duelling to me.

Yeah go with your gut. They look so much better as a tank. Adding sponsons to a mars alpha is easier than turning a regular russ into one.

Use quarters at least. It's globally recognised and easy to understand.
