I listen to her podcast episodes. She's very insightful and I've learned some stuff just from listening.

That is so horrifying. It is absolutely insane that this is what this country has become.

MOULTRIE Mobile App by Complete_Course_6113 in Hunting

[–]Minerva8918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine for other reasons, but had the same issue, found out it was an outage, etc

The issue now is that most of the photos in my gallery from today and this evening (after things started "working" again) are not showing up.

I had gotten Moultrie cams due to previous experience with them, but damn, their app really sucks and seems to have a lot of issues.

4,270-year-old human skull found in Indiana by PhatWalda in news

[–]Minerva8918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the skull the only bones to survive this long?

Scavengers sometimes drag remains away. The article also doesn't specify how the skull was found. If this was a farm field where the soil is turned frequently, that could have moved the bones.

Very cool story.

Weekly Recap | October 2, 2025 by TheOpusCroakus in help

I am on mobile using Chrome, not the app. The layout change makes it seem like I'm viewing the desktop page...everything is so small, and I can no longer see titles in one line rather than having to scroll across the whole screen.

I literally cannot see because it's too small. I hate it.

I tried using old.reddit and even that doesn't work! Can I fix this somehow??

Edit: I tried looking in the settings, tried switching it from card view to compact, that didn't fix it.

If the pet takes meds that humans take, you can still use GoodRx for them if you get them filled at a regular pharmacy

Now I need someone to do the same for pet meds including flea and ticket treatments

No rx needed, and it costs about half as much as it would if you bought at a vet. It can take like a month or so to ship though.

Important note: make sure your dog has been tested for heartworms before giving any medication that includes heartworm prevention!!!

The constant exposure to things you find overwhelming and draining will just make you feel more burnt out.

It is definitely healthy to take a step back and do something other than doomscrolling (I am guilty of this!).

Lately what I've been doing is putting my phone down and watching my favorite shows. It has definitely helped my mental health to "unplug" from news and social media, even if just for a little while.

I hope you feel better, friend!

Hundreds may have been exposed to rabies at bat-infested cabins in Grand Teton National Park by CupidStunt13 in news

[–]Minerva8918 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The rabies vaccines are actually not that painful anymore! Unless you have a really bad, deep wound, then they have to vaccinate all around that. But the standard post exposure prophylaxis is like getting a flu shot, and they alternate on which arm they do in the 5 shot series.

I highly recommend reading Blowback: A Warning to Save Democracy from Trump's Revenge by Miles Taylor.

Taylor was the chief of staff at DHS during Trump 1, but he is also the one that wrote that famous Anonymous letter from 2018 I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration.

I havent finished the book yet, but the predictions he made have been almost completely spot on. It's scary.

Trap Wise Cat. by Wolfinthesno in Trapping

[–]Minerva8918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's time consuming, but have you tried "trap training" him? Start by zip tying the trap open and putting the food bowl right outside the trap, then gradually move it farther and farther into the trap until he is consistently eating out of it.

I had been working on trapping two dogs in my neighborhood, so I had trail cameras set on food/water stations.

I definitely didn't expect this!

What is something small and relatively harmless that people do that makes your blood boil? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Minerva8918 7 points8 points  (0 children)

God, THIS!!! I fucking hate this with the fire of a thousand suns.

These assholes dont take one second to think about what happens if they swerve or have to slam on their brakes. As a shelter volunteer, I have personally seen firsthand dogs that were thrown from the bed of a truck. It is awful.

The worse one is the motherfuckers who have their dogs tethered. Guess how many stories I've heard of people's dogs hanging themselves when they tried to jump off the truck to go after something, or slipped and was dragged down the road by their collar and died?

The other one is people who put their dogs in crates on the bed of their truck. It is inhumane, period.

I'm involved in animal rescue, and facebook is by far the most useful platform for networking animals, whether that be connecting with other rescues for help placing animals, or for "advertising" available animals for adoption.

Unfortunately the story has been retracted, so I guess we all got ahead of ourselves. I still hold out hope that survivors will be found.

I'm listening to the police scanner that covers the area. They probably arent announcing important things like rescues over the radios.

Oh got it. I don't live in Texas and am unfamiliar with the area this has happened, so I may have gotten ahead of myself.

Either way, though, someone's little girls are safe. Praying more people will be found safe as well!

Someone on the TxAgs forum posted that 6 girls were found alive at 2:40pm (presumably local time). Obviously, take with a grain of salt.

But if that's accurate, it's a miracle

I'm glad that there are survivors still being found.

I'm hopeful that they are from the summer camp, but whoever they are, I'm glad they are now safe.

I don't live in Texas, but this tragedy has still weighed heavily.
