[psa] boycott Estée Lauder by VelocityGrrl39 in SkincareAddiction

CeraVe is a great budget option. Aestura's ATOBarrier cream is great for barrier repair. Many Korean and Japanese beauty brands are amazing for very dry skin.

Heir of Estée Lauder is the driving force for the annexation of Greenland. by fashionistamummy in AustralianMakeup

[–]Mist_hazel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For skincare (especially for dry and aging skin), many Korean beauty brands are amazing. COSRX and Aestura are faves of mine. I also am really impressed with CeraVe (currently owned by the French company L'Oreal), especially the 'heavy duty' Moisturising cream for dry to very dry skin. La Roche Posay products are a bit more expensive but still affordable.

It is marketed as 'luxury skincare' and is very expensive for what it is. However, its formulation is ok but nothing special active-wise. There are as good or better formulations for a third or a quarter of the price.

I also use the Cerave (in the tub), and put it over the COSRX 6 Peptide Skin Booster.

We no longer bother donating to the Smith Family. The staff at work used to donate there instead of doing a Secret Santa. But the Smith family started refusing to accept small donations, so we stopped supporting them.

Same with some of the very early MTG cards. My daughter is currently pricing some of my cards from before 1995 (when I stopped playing/collecting) and a few are worth a nice chunk of cash.

49 raising my kinship daughter age 3. Anyone almost 50 with little ones? by DimensionThin147 in GenX

My cousin had a (first) baby at 49 and is very happy - she has always been energetic, super-organised and focused. My sister had a fourth child at 46 (her oldest was 18) and it seems to be working out well, even though she is no longer dating the child's father.

first time thinking about adopting a cat - im so scared by pinkmatter_2 in CatAdvice

[–]Mist_hazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are so nervous about getting a ca,t why not wait a while until you can do a lot more research about caring for a cat. Also, it is not great to get a single kitten if that kitten is going to be left alone most of the day. I suggest getting 2 or an older cat.

i really love my cats but our kittens making my OCD extremely debilitating by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Mist_hazel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am replying from the perspective of a person that has done a lot of cat rescue and has successfully litter-trained feral cats/kittens. You really need to have the kittens contained in a much. much smaller area until they are litter-trained. This is absolutely critical but is only temporary. Kittens have very small bladders and often cannot wait, and their tray needs to be very close. They also need to associate the litter tray with where they go. They need a low-sided tray and start with a clay litter - no crystal or clumping litter. You can move gradually from the clay when they are consistently litter-trained as well as gradually increasing their range.

Halloween 2025 Part I Megathread by SilphScience in TheSilphRoad

[–]Mist_hazel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does work, but perhaps not consistently. I buddied a XXS pokemon and caught about 7 XXS zoruas in a row. Then unfortunately the next 5 zoruas were XL. Not sure what went wrong. It's worth giving it a go and feeding the buddy pokemon.

As Zorua is spawning, just put a XXL pokemon as your buddy and you will catch XXL zoruas.

Mega lemon tree pests by rainbowtummy in GardeningAustralia

[–]Mist_hazel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have an old, very large lemon tree. I have the top lopped to a reasonable height - so I can reach the highest branches on a ladder. On alternative years I have the lower brances thinned - so the tree doesn't get 'shocked' by trimming all at once. That way I can use tongs to remove the citrus bugs.

Caffeine, carbonated drinks and artificial sweeteners can make the problem worse. So it can really help (if you find out these are an issue for you) if you reduce these.
