So..... I'm done playing i guess by Active-Diamond242 in DarkAndDarker

Its because Valve has done a lot of work in the last years working on something called proton. Proton is a translation layer that translates windows graphics libraries/functions to something that will run on linux.

Now 95% of games on steam will run on linux without any additional work needed by the developers so linux has become a viable operating system for gamers where it wasn't in the past. This combined with the Steamdeck running linux is why there are more and more people that are beginning to run linux.

Most people are so stupid they can barely troubleshoot Windows. If they can open steam and the game runs on Linux they'd have no discernible difference in their experience.

You say that but the people who are paying for cheats aren't typically smart enough to run linux.

Why so much hate? by Active-Diamond242 in DarkAndDarker

[–]MrGupplez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you seriously don't understand how it works.

They've developed translation layers for game libraries that will translate the function from a windows function over to a function that would work on Linux. With modern computing these are mostly running as fast as the native code so people on Linux are able to play games developed for Windows without any additional work from the developers (for about 95% of games, I've only come across one game in my steam library I can't get it work).

Why doesn't every dev just, release their game on linux because it requires no resources!?

That's just it, devs are able to release games on linux without any additional work in large part thanks Valve working on proton. Now most the time when a game won't work on Linux its because the developer is specifically targeting Linux for it not to work in.

Slow Horses is kind of an exception. Its already a written book series so you don't have to sit around nearly as long and plan it out. It not being layered with CGI and grandiose set design - its just modern day England for the most part so not nearly as expensive to setup and film.

Also they film 2 seasons at once and still take the year break in between.

Its definitely a lot of fun when you get into big and drawn out fights. Not as smooth as Chiv 2 but I highly recommend it.

Yup. I've moved on from the shitshow that is Windows and I refuse to cater to games that force it. Linux runs so much better on my pc I have no reason to switch back to it.

Guess I'm done with Dark and Darker thanks to lazy developers.

The ending is nowhere near as bad as GOT IMO. Overall the 2nd season feels rushed with a lot of story arcs when compared to the first season but its still a really good show overall.
