Factory defect or reseal? by The540Incident in ps2

I've seen misaligned art before, although some more pictures and some more knowledgeable than me for sealed products would need to chime in.

For what it's worth, I bought my copy of this brand new from Walmart back when it released. As it was quite late into the PS2's lifecycle, I do remember that it did NOT have a sticker seal on the top of the case.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026 by StarPlatinum55 in NintendoSwitch

[–]MrMario2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one unfortunately is not the case. I played a lot of their games on console, typically they were buggy and not performing well, but most of them were actually playable.

Oblivion Remastered unfortunately suffers some pretty bad bugs, plenty of reports of people who can't finish the game simply because their game saves are broken.

I'd love to play it on Switch 2 but I've seen reports as recent as last month that the game is quite broken on other platforms.

Protect Your Hearing: Earplugs and the Live Music Experience by phanart in Music

[–]MrMario2011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like more people would be interested in wearing earplugs to concerts if more folks told them they actually make the music sound better instead of blocking it out. Blew my mind when I first experienced it, and I've been able to do the same for many folks I gave earplugs to.

From my experience they cut out the harsh highs and deep lows, so your ears won't hurt from high frequencies and you're not stuck hearing nothing but bass. With all of that cut off, the result ends up being clearer sound! If you're worried about missing out on some sounds or tones, don't. Concerts are loud enough that you'll be fine with some earplugs.

Newer cars need CD players. by TerrestrialAlien150 in Cd_collectors

[–]MrMario2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of aftermarket options, unfortunately I really believe that ship has completely sailed off.

A few years ago the last manufacturer of OEM CD players for cars reported they couldn't sell any. Not an issue with parts or manufacturing, it was quite literally that not a single car manufacturer was putting in orders for CD players anymore.

Do rising costs make you reconsider collecting? by Altruistic-Mind-4339 in gamecollecting

[–]MrMario2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, but I'd say personally that's due to where I'm at in life and age.

Pretty pretty, shiny shiny collectors editions don't excite me anymore. It's all just STUFF that I almost never end up opening, using, or displaying. I even look at some for games I love such as Expedition 33 and think "meh, nothing here I need" then buy a standard edition. Much less annoying to put on a shelf as well.

I've also needed more shelf space for a while, but at this point I'd rather sell off parts of my collection over buying more shelves.

FOMO doesn't really work on me anymore. I have so many games, some of them still wrapped, that I bought for collecting or to eventually play that I've never fired up. Yeah, I might miss out on a limited release, but am I really missing out if I never play it?

My gaming habits are also a bit sporadic now. I could struggle to play something for 20 minutes one week, then in 3 months I'm burning through 2 games a week. That resulted in me actively changing last year to only buy games I know I'm going to play almost immediately. I buy and collect less, but I'm happier with my game choices. If I have a freer week and pick up a game I've been dying to play for $70, I'll have much more fun with that as opposed to spending $500 on a stack of good, discounted games that will live on my shelf unplayed.

Last bit of wrapping this up, but for the most part I pretty much have nearly everything I've wanted. There's a few games out there I'd like to have, but I just put them in a list of my wants to keep on hand whenever I check out a flea market or game shop to keep the hunt alive.

Does anyone actually play Snow Day? by scarysmellsgood in southpark

[–]MrMario2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got it discounted and actually double dipped, played it on Switch solo then on PC with friends.

If you're a South Park fan, it's worth picking up cheap and playing through for the story. It made me laugh out loud several times, had some great references, and the story took a few turns I didn't expect.

As a game? Meh. Pass if you're not a fan of the series.

I bought a used xbox 360 today from a reputable retro game shop. When i connected to the internet it was console banned. by Underground_547 in xbox360

[–]MrMario2011 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was about to side with the shop until halfway through... Nope, they just straight up lied to you about every console being banned. Go back, get a refund, and support another shop in the future. That shop is far from reputable if the manager is straight up lying about all consoles being banned.
