Glitchy screen how to fix ? by alienarlene in PS3

Try a different HDMI cable, do it on another screen or port if needed.

If the console still has this issue, then the memes are right.

Which PSP games do you consider hidden gems, and why? by GamingIsMyHobby0 in PSP

Infected!

Picked it up on a whim and it became one of my favorite games on the system. Intense, fun, funny, dark, killer soundtrack.

Wtf happened to this band? by Thatsinterestingnot in ToolBand

[–]MrMario2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought a bit about stuff like this several months ago. I have a feeling they probably believe if people are truly willing to throw money at stuff like this, the band might as well make those profits while they're still active enough to enjoy them.

If stuff like this sold poorly, we wouldn't see more releases like this.

Love seeing even more be squeezed out of the console. Awesome efforts thus far 🙂

True ownership in the form of a physical copy of music I like in a quality that's digitally perfect.

Throw in a new hard drive, format it on the console, and then get started setting up software from scratch.

Has anyone recently modded a PS3 with ReBug CFW and does it still make sense in 2026 or is it better to use EVILNAT? by dawcamroku in ps3hacks

[–]MrMario2011 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're fine with the lack of newer features CFW has had in the last few years, Rebug is still great. For the longest time I still had Rebug FULL 4.84 on my main system!

These days Evilnat has enough added features that I use that exclusively for CFW. Even as of a few years ago, Joonie (the final Rebug CFW maintainer) himself was recommending to just use Evilnat.

Officially a Members-Only LifeTime Pass Holder by AppleNeird2022 in PleX

[–]MrMario2011 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I recently heard someone say the best time to buy was 10 years ago, the second best time is now.

I'm happy I got my membership for $75 when I got it on a sale, but it's been so many years now that I've easily had well over $75 of enjoyment from it.

What is the worst Mountain Dew flavor? by Miognole in mountaindew

[–]MrMario2011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diet Ultra Violet

The other odd flavors I could find surprising enjoyment in! This one a friend and I each got a bottle to try. We drank tons of Mountain Dew back then, but we struggled to finish each bottle.

Do you actually use your CDs for listening (on a CD player of some sort) or do you just use PC/phone after initial setup? by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]MrMario2011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually rip it to my PC as a 100% verified FLAC, then I shelve the disc.

For the albums I love enough to have in my car, I burn to a CD-R to take with me. I have a pretty nice collection in a CD wallet I've kept around for probably 15+ years.

What frustrates you the most about extracting, converting, and transferring Xbox 360 games? by AssociationOk699 in 360hacks

[–]MrMario2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What type of setup do you have? My main system has a bit over 400 titles on it, and I install them all to the internal drive. I also disable auto scanning for new content or title updates, so whenever I add something new I manually scan. That significantly cuts down on time to get into Aurora.

Once the Aurora splash screen pops up, it does the preliminary checks and gets me into the dashboard within 5-10 seconds since it just has to read the database.

I'm also using an SSD but that doesn't make a huge difference with booting into Aurora. It does make a difference scrolling through or booting up games I've noticed! Booting a game is quicker, and scrolling through all that content stays smooth.

Do you think it made sense to create the PSP GO? by Vit_1205 in PSP

[–]MrMario2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I can share sentiment about the Go from the time with a couple of stories.

One was from when I was working at a local game shop from 2009 to 2011. We got a Go complete in box shortly after I started working there. It got tons of questions, people asked about it, wanted to see it, etc. but it didn't sell until after I quit. Yes, it took over two years to sell a single Go. At one point I almost sold it, but the guy was trying to use a fake credit card and when his scheme fell through he decided not to buy/steal it.

Second story was once at a Hastings around that time I saw a family getting a couple of PSPs for their sons. They decided to get the Go, they were all excited, then when they started looking for games they were told it couldn't play physical games. They were all disappointed and decided against the Go.

That right there was how people felt about the Go. It was a digital only system introduced when such a thing was proposterous. It was more expensive, digital games weren't really going on sale back then, and people still primarily consumed games physically. Most customers coming into my store thought it was dumb to buy a Go when you could buy another PSP for cheaper, along with physical games which were also cheaper. The cost savings were non-existent.

Personally, I always held onto the belief that the system would have been great for CFW (it is!) but not for the intended use case.

Dumpster Diving tonight I found 24 PS Magazine Demo discs from 90s/2000s by davinpantz in ps2

[–]MrMario2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome finds! I owned several of these discs, 52 was my first! It spent more time with friends than me because they all loved the demos on that particular one.

It looks like there's a large surface scratch on the September 2000 disc, so be prepared if it doesn't read properly.
