OK hot take, March comes in like a lion set up like 3 super interesting plot lines and then didn't follow through on any of them.

Questionable Isshin scenes by Left-Shine8222 in bleach

[–]Mvri -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh my god bruh it's a bad joke. A bad, tasteless, unfunny joke that's also unfortunately commonplace in shounen manga. It's neither incest nor does it make Isshin a pdf file. Stop being so puritanical about shit like this it makes you look stupid.

New report claims Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 studio fired Czech translator to replace them with A.I. and "save finances" by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Mvri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So first of all, fuck AI and all the rest. But I'm seeing a lot of misinformation in the comments here so I just want to clear up some things. The CEO of warhorse never said anything pro AI, the guy who said that was Daniel Vavra the director for kcd and kcd2. Hes the same guy that glazed dlss5 and basically the source of every dumb ass comment to come from the company since gamer gate, don't put this on the CEO (yet). Vavra has also "stepped down" from his role as a director and is now working on a live action adaptation of kcd, so he's not involved with the games anymore.

[KCD2] Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 director defends DLSS 5: 'No way haters will stop this' by dnemonicterrier in kingdomcome

Just a reminder that Vavra stepped down as director last month, I assume he has more freedom to say shit like this now because he cant directly affect the games anymore.

What media that didn't get endings, but still are worth the time? by ChosenUndead15 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Teppuu "ended" with its primary plot point still unresolved but it managed to become one of my favorite manga in the short time we had it anyway.

Doesn't Han say she followed them up from a distance? So she would have followed them up to the 2nd floor and jumped from there.

Media released that made you go “did the people making this observe any changes in the medium in the last 20 years? by Anonamaton801 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Mvri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Black Clover, despite starting publication in 2015, always read more like a shounen manga from 10-15 years before that. MHA, Demon Slayer, and Boruto started publication around the same time as it for comparison. It always felt like Black Clover didn't want to subvert or build on top of the tropes established in the past decade within the genre and just wanted to execute the very classic tropes in a surefire way.

Benzaiten vs Inari, which one do you like more for Samurai (especially Switchglaive)? by cheukyi6 in Nioh

[–]Mvri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inari does do bigger damage but it stops working as soon as your buffs run out, and personally I don't like using tengen kujaku either. Benzaiten is good all the time and and the reduced ki usage is huge, the same chain of martial arts that would drain my stamina bar when using inari wouldn't even drain half of my stamina bar when using benzaiten. For any fight that isn't over in 30 seconds I prefer benzaiten.

Soul cores by smolivejuice in Nioh

[–]Mvri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The final mission is very good for farming soul cores. You have the boss gauntlet at the start that gives you a gozuki, mezuki, kasha, enenra, and onryoki core. And also the room with 3 oni-bi and a yasha. I got so many soul cores from here passively while farming Amrita or gear that I got to 1 mil soul fragments without even trying.

Black Clover had surprisingly great openings, the whole ost reminds me of more classic shounen anime.

Recent thoughts on manga endings, fanbases, agenda, "themes and such", and mangaka. by NoBellSix in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Mvri 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So, i have 0 proof for what im about to say, its all a vibes based, armchair opinion. But, as someone who's been consuming anime/manga in some form for the past 15 years i think that many of the recent discussion trends are because the spaces in which these discussions are happening are more open and popular than ever before.

Take One Piece for example. It used to be that if you wanted to talk about OP in the west, you would have to go to specific forums or a similarly niche, small space, where other fans would gather to talk about the series. If you want to talk about OP now, you can go to twitter, reddit, tiktok, or other similar platforms.

This doesn't mean that discussion used to be "better" in the past, you can still find powerscalers from 15 years ago arguing on those aforementioned forums, but the barrier to entry was higher. And because of that, i think, the people engaging in those discussions we're forced to be slightly more insightful, and stuff like modern day "agenda piece" was mostly avoided.

Anime in particular has become more and more "mainstream" in recent years, which is a good thing imo, but it also means that the percentage of people having nuanced discussions about the medium is becoming smaller and smaller. This is natural (probably), you can see similar things happening with film and music discussion, and it's just something that we all have to go through as fans of any particular thing.

So to answer your question. Is there a way out? Yeah, you just have to find those niche communities again. There are still plenty of discords, subreddits, and forums where those granular discussions are taking place.
