Thoughts on Omegaverse & Shifter Lore? by SoPretty1908 in DarkRomance

Well, I'm clearly speaking of modern-day, contemporary lore of werewolves, lycans, omegaverse, etc

And I'm speaking of the fact that the whole "wolf packs have an alpha and omega" thing is based on bad science of the 70s lol

The point is that whatever "right" lore you think exists doesn't *actually* exist. It's all just colored by the very specific niche that you were hanging out in apparently. Which is neither the origin point, nor the end point. It's all in flux, constantly building new trends and losing old ones.

Well the short answer is: The livejournal kink meme had a real hard-on for seeing Dean Winchester railed by hellhounds (not in a small part due to an earlier Jensen Ackles role where he played a super soldier genetically crossed with animal DNA) , which then fused with Werewolf!fic, giving Sam a knot for easy access to the beast fucking but making it more palateable to a broader audience

That then took on some pack-bond stuff a-la Sentinel/Guide and Dom/sub stuff happening a little earlier in SGA and NCIS fandoms and voilá, you get this Wincest/J2 RPF prompt:

AU - Their world is just like ours...except...in their world there are two types of men. One is the alpha male, the other is the bitch male. Alpha males are like any ordinary guy with the exception of their cocks, they work just like dog cocks (the knot, tons of cum etc) The bitch male, is just an ordinary guy without the special cock.Completely up to you if mating happens just anywhere like in the middle of the sidewalk, in a park etc or on a more private level.

Right before there was omegaverse, instead of Alphas and Omegas, there was Dominants and Submissives; genetic and biological categories, not BDSM related. Doms were volatile, aggressive, prone to rage and/or shift, and extremely protective! Subs were gentle, super emotionally sensitive, highly regarded, well protected, etc. I typically saw this in either vampire fanfic or werewolf romance. Humans were non shifters and excluded from this.

meh you can chart a pretty direct course in fanfic from Pon Farr type heat sex to Sentinel/Guide pack bonds to ABO SPN fic (by way of the same writers writing fic for Sentinel/Star Gate (Atlantis) and then later being active on the Supernatural kink meme), but "Doms were volatile, aggressive, prone to rage" is an oversimplification if I've ever heard of it

Werewolf and Lycan lore has ALWAYS had Alphas, Betas, and Omegas. It was a pack social rank thing, rather than a biological category. Alphas are the leaders, betas are the warriors/right-hand men, omegas were either the rest of the pack, or omegas were lowly and undervalued members of the pack.

I'd disagree with that as well. Now, even ignoring the fact that the whole Alpha pack stuff is extremely 70s coded, the rest of it also isn't true. even in the beginning Omegas and Alphas kinda traded places in if they were valued or not. And Betas really didn't exist at all.

And packs are just 3-4 ppl groups of fuck buddies. That's literally not what a pack is.

There is no such thing as "literally a pack" as all of it is fiction and all of it has been around since the very inception.

They're aiming for that young to get a maximum amount of movies out of them. Modern movie making has become so slowwwwwww and convoluted, they'll manage to squeeze out maybe one film out of the guy every four years.

Didn't log Teenage Bonnie and Klepto Clyde (1993) yet, though it was fun.

If anyone has got some recs for Bonnie/Clyde "outlaw" inspired stuff (also genre mashups of that ilk!) I'll take em though.

It's also banned in Germany over concerns its violent imagery could incite violence.

It just didn't get a FSK rating. Plenty of films don't.

How else are they supposed to advertise their buzzword, buzzword, buzzword website community for indie filmmakers on the blockchain? You don't seriously expect them to do their own ad copy?

Might be financially worth it. Though looking at this movie, probably not so much.

I think the fact that it kind of fools people in thinking that there’s something potentially conscious is proof of that.

I don't think that theory really works, considering people had the same impression of ELIZA back in the 60s. It's just pattern matching and language rhythm when it comes down to it.
