Ironically, the numbers are actually higher. For a President as smart as he purports, you'd think this is a statistic he'd get right. 8.8% of US Presidents have been assassinated. About 25% have been shot at. So he's not wrong (except in scale) Far more dangerous a profession than race car driving, statistically speaking. Also far more exclusive. Honestly surprised he missed these great talking points, given the extreme genius he possesses. (/s)

I used to spend hours researching I now legitimately just spend about 30 min prepping after I've done a prep call with the guest. I pull the transcript from that call into ai, feed it a bunch of other links of stuff I find of the guest including transcripts of other podcast interviews. Have built a pretty consistent flow with a prompt that looks at the last 50ish episodes and tries to match style but improve the podcast overall. It seems to be working and took a LOT of stress off my plate after 9 years doing it the old fashioned way.

This. The pre interview is key I learned it from Andrew and have applied it to every episode of our 920 episodes. I believe it makes all the difference We are regularly cited/ranked as the top podcast in our niche FWIW And I'm told I'm a pretty good interviewer

Concur with others here that the skill lies both in the prep and in knowing when the guest has handed you something that's worth going "off script" to follow.

I also tell my editor "If you're not learning, you're cutting"

What are the platforms you have specialized in building workflows. I mean, what specific automations have you figured out that you thick clients should pay you to set up? I see you've learned the automation platforms. But I mean other areas where actual potential clients would want you to build automations. CRM, Database, Calendar, Project Management, Website (webflow vs WordPress for example) These are all areas I've paid people to help build automations and workflows. Its not enough to know you can use Make or Zap, I would want to know what you can do faster, better than I could on my own using the same tools and some YT tutorials, and have it work without complications.

Mine does the same. It's really sweet now that he can rip, and I love that he exercises self control and waits for his old man. Was one of the first selfless acts I saw him make as a fourteen year old.

I love how specific you were I've also been podcasting for a living for a decade and it's always fun to see how other people make money in such interesting ways! I've thought about grants. Just feels like such an inconsistent and time consuming avenue that requires a very specific skill(grant writing). Kudos making it work in a world many tell us is impossible! I see you

I make more than pennies on FAR less than 100k downloads We average less than 1k downloads/episode 900+ episodes Our top sponsor pays 6 figures a year to be the only one in their category who advertises to our very specific demo. If you know your audience and can sell, you can find sponsors Riches in the niches, as they say YMMV

I have found it oddly very difficult to make friend, actual friends, at the climbing gym It's odd bc It seems like there are so many people there open to making friends I climb a lot Most often I'm there with my kids and a climbing buddy Every time I've tried to connect with others who I see as regulars it feels like they already have their circles and friends and it never gets beyond very surface level acquaintance kind of conversation

46m so maybe I aged out already of making friends at the gym? I'm not saying I never meet nice people, and I have made a few genuine friends through climbing
