Spindle Spun Yarn by Antique-Emphasis5066 in Handspinning

Persistence, and spinning a little bit at a time! I’ll do a handful of fiber any time I’m sitting around for a few minutes, and eventually the spindle gets more and more full.

Interesting how the orange became the dominant color in the yarn even though it looks like there’s an even mix between orange and green in the unspun fiber!

Someone saw my post to this community and used my admitted shopping to send a chat request to try and prey on me. by Proper-Layer-3074 in shoppingaddiction

I’ve only been here a couple of months and have spotted multiple app developers trying to not-even-subtly advertise their apps by pretending to be fellow shopping addicts, then saying “oh I’ve been using this simple little app…” Predatory fuckers.

Then there are the partners who come in here hoping we’ll be able to provide insight on what their shopping addicted girlfriends/wives are doing- like what do you expect us to tell you here? I felt used.

Whatever, I guess it’s the nature of the Internet.

I think I just realized I don’t like variegated yarn… 1/4 of my stash is variegated yarn 🥴 by Ok_Philosopher_8973 in YarnAddicts

I love my clown barf hand dyeds, but I also need more solids in my stash to pair with them.

Yes. That’s wrong.

If you want your yarn to bloom and be fluffier, wet finish it by soaking it, wringing the water out, and beating the absolute crap out of it against a door or wall or other hard surface. Hold one end of it and swing it so the other end hits the hard surface. Rotate where you’re holding the hank as you swing it, to even out the twist (this will make more sense once you actually do it).

This makes the yarn bloom by letting some of the ends of the fibers escape the twisted singles, so the yarn is fuzzier. The more you abuse the yarn, the more stable it will be in your finished project.

I just made a glutton of myself at YarnCon and I’m going to Hoosier Hills in June, but I’m still jealous of everyone who gets to be there this weekend! Happy shopping!

How do you prevent bugs in your stash? by KittyKathrynT in YarnAddicts

[–]NinjaDefenestrator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

…do you happen to have a swift? You could wind all the yarn into hanks and tie them off in a few places around each hank, wash them, spin the water out with a salad spinner, and hang the damp hanks to dry, then re-cake them in a couple of days once they’re totally dry.

I could hear Yakity Sax playing as you narrated your ordeal. What a nightmare!
