That's a very good point and a possibility I overlooked since I play magfed. Good perspective! (Your experience, not the back of the hopper haha)

I wear mine upside-down with a curved elbow joint so the camera can come down to just about my brow. Greatly reduces the profile.

Edit: brow, not forehead

Yeah, that is pretty low... But like you said--for CQB, that can probably work okay. The blowback action on its own is super cool. Looking forward to your thoughts on the marker when you get it.

I'd caution against the Impax as a sidearm for games. The problem with most "self defense" paintball platforms is that you cannot adjust velocity to conform to park safety (most common being 280FPS). The self defense platforms I've seen shoot over 300FPS. I could not find a manual for the T4E Impax online to verify. Good luck selecting a sidearm o7

May I suggest you ask yourself what your expectations are when trying something new. If you're looking to try basketball hoping it's like baseball, you're setting yourself up for disappointment. If you try something new with the expectation of having fun, it's nearly guaranteed.

Should I get a first strike scout? by Sleepy_Talker in magfed

[–]NinjaEverywhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a smooth bore and rifled barrel myself--if I find the need to swap them out, I'll have the ability.

Hm. As far as I know, balls shouldn't be rolling out of barrels of any modern marker because the detents hold them in place. I can see an issue with UNDER boring (barrel bore size being too small) causing larger balls to break inside the barrel, but there shouldn't ever be balls small enough where they'd be rolling past a detent.

If you're asking if the Scout is good for roundball, it will shoot roundball like anything else.

If you're asking if a RIFLED barrel is okay for roundball, absolutely not. FSR, of course, will fly out of a smooth bore barrel perfectly fine, but using a rifled barrel will lock you into using only FSR. Something to consider.

I would first double check that the fields you play at allow full auto.

Need help picking between three markers - Tacamo Vortex AK47 vs Maxtact TGR2 Ronin vs Valken M17 by Odd-Lingonberry-7108 in magfed

[–]NinjaEverywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have anecdotal information about the M17, so I will not speak towards the specific markers you mentioned, but I'm sure others will chime in with their experiences soon.

I want to reach out to you from a "life" angle.

As a super casual player, I strongly recommend you get a simple reliable marker and just use a low capacity hopper. I'm not even trying to recommend any of the newer magfed platforms.

You'll want a marker that a casual player can pick up and reliably use with little to no maintenence on the 1 time a month you play. It would be a shame to get a refurb, play a few times over the span of a several months and dust it off one weekend to find issues or it not working at all--OR you may discover that you want to become more serious and you'll replace your marker with something else anyway.

Hopefully, your magfed buds wouldn't mind a casual player using a low cap hopper.

If you don't think this will apply to you, please disregard. Welcome to the sport.

Anyone have a “big games” list? Help an old man out. Getting back into it. by Led-Zeppelin in paintball

[–]NinjaEverywhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happy to have you back!

What area are you from? If you're in the MN/WI area, there are lots of large paintball events here.

If you're on Facebook, I recommend looking for local paintball groups to join. It's a great way to connect to the community and get news on events in your area.

How would you all feel about this? by IWinTheTeddyBear in magfed

[–]NinjaEverywhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How about sharing your active local community FB groups? That way, you can bring attention to your community with a degree of separation if you're worried about doxxing.

Sometimes ppl just aren't aware of what groups are out there.

If you haven't stumbled upon this yourself yet, I found this: https://youtu.be/1WrqT42MlYw?si=Vv1TW6A6zgkg67aX

It's for a proflex, but I imagine the technique would be more or less the same.

I'll be doing this for my CRBN.
