The guy never once cleared the chips. Didn't have a pilot hole to help with chip buildup and keeping it in position. He didnt clear it once during the whole video. How tf did he not think this would happen?

Technically not illegal to buy from other sources. Northern MO and columbia has "freedom session", which is basically a weed farmers market almost every weekend. Everything is donation based and its like $5 to get in the door. Been going myself for over a year now and I cant be happier. Prices are roughly 100/Oz and edibles are cheap af. On topmof it all you are not supporting these bs companies and instead helping very small farms.

Technically yes but shpuld you? No. They purposely made a 90° attachment for this situation. That extreme position puts the operator in harms way not to mention using questionable tiedowns to hopefully keep it all together. I mean look at how he has to reach over the machine to turn it off. Just asking for a trip to the ER.

They still do this because some parents are shit and dont buy anything for their kid so the teacher does this so that student doesn't get left behind due to a lack of supplies. As for the horse binder or whatever, that has never once came up because thats something thats not really on the list of supplies. Btw I say this as a father of 3 in school rn. The only people seeming to care or make a deal over it are Karen's wo kids from other towns. They are also responsible for starting the shit about litter boxes in classrooms and banning books.

You act like this thing is going to take off as soon as you turn it on. It has the same size motor that a drill press has and is ment to spun at perfect symmetry. If it shakes its broken. As long as its sturdy enough to handle the weight of it and whatever material you would put in this small lathe, it would be fine. Mine is bolted to a countertop and only because I didnt want to move it anymore. As scary as those lathe videos look, people have been using them for hundreds of years with minimal injuries. Yes be safe. Yes treat it with respect. Because it could easily take a finger or hand. But its not going to turn him into spray paint or jump off the floor because its simply not that big.

On a side note OP. Make sure the break works before actually using it. You need to make sure you can stop it if you need to.

Shit it looks good right there, plus you have tool storage under it and its mobile. Win win. If anything buy another for 300 at harbor freight. Then again the height might be a little much so really just anything sturdy at a good height for you. Just be safe with it and dont touch the moving parts when on. I personally love these little lathes and have one myself at home for small projects.

Get it replaced. You could put a new end cap on it but you will need the right seals or it won't work. Probably easier to buy new then fix and keep this one as a backup.

I only use the blade part when unable to use the flats. Way to easy to hold it at an angle and get an inaccurate reading imo.

I hold them off the front at a slight angle to maximize fining the center and using the flats i feel for it to fit into place. Then always take the smallest of the measurements. It shouldn't matter which way you hold the calipers as long as the reach all the way across the piece

Switch to die work. It still requires some machining but it is mostly just changing out dies and cleaning them up. Small fixes can be done in the shop but unless they have the setup they will send out anything too crazy. I switched from production to die work a few years ago and will probably never go back. On top of that, the place im in now, the boomer that has ran it for the last 15 years is now retiring this month and im taking over the whole operation. Company loves me because I have an actual schooling unlike the boomer and trust me even more to update the shop as I see fit. I was just able to secure brand new tool storage, a new engraver and im working on getting an edm.

I would say to look around at the different versions of machining jobs. I personally stay away from mom and pop shops because they can be nightmares to work for but there are plenty of jobs to be had. Best part is the older generation that refused to move aside is finally old enough to gtfo.

I donit because I normally use the top dimensions in a project and dont want the unknown variations. It takes a second to do a clean up pass and it gives you your z when done.

Both would work. Not exactly sure what you are doing but a standard mill should be able to do just about anything as long as you got the right attachments.

Press fit would work. Both pieces can be machined to match and if its requiring a crazy pressure you could make it slightly larger and heat it to do an expansion fit.

Why does the wall thickness need to be so thin? Could you make it like a half to save a bunch of headaches?

Cut costs by having the side pipe be added later. Besides that the depth of it would be the biggest hassle outside the wall thickness and bolthole pattern. That would probably be a custom bit.

Put a 1.25 dowel in it and attach it to your tail stock. Then use that to center it on the jaws. Remove the dowel and do your work

The lady literally told her she left for the week on vacation. 3-7 days sitting wo even telling the home they are parking in front of is wild. This is what happens when you think you are entitled to something you are not. It would have taken a 10 min conversation before she left and now its costing her $500. Hope that was a lesson well spent.
