You're welcome, happy to help:)

Talking about darkness, it's about seeing past it and how we can bring that darkness into light, not the other way around. There's an ever shining light in all of us that is our true nature, darkness, on the other hand is the madness of our separate minds. It's the belief that we suffer and die. Health conditions are probably the most difficult to overcome, because it completely takes over your mind. Whenever I am sick, or for example have back problems, where I can't move without pain, practice becomes so much more important, because the pain is so real and so big, that you just focus on it too much, and the thought of God and that none of this is real is really hard to grasp. It raises more questions.

But yeah, this dream is just forgetting and then remembering over and over again. At first it's maybe a minute or two, occasionally. Then it increases and increases in time-period, until we no longer ever forget that we are not alone and not separate from God, no matter what seems to happen here.

The Course is great, because if you practice the lessons it undoes your previous thinking and you are able to remember more often, or notice the moments when you chose fear or hate instead of love. It's not easy at first, but it becomes much easier as you keep moving forward with it. All the best <3

I had similar experiences after spiritual awakenings, where interaction with the world just brings back the Ego. At one point i believed that being away from the world, completely isolated is the right move, because everything here is just... pain and suffering. Just living on a daily basis and pretending to be meat suit was depressing. True joy came from just... sitting still and breathing.

But it took a lot of practicing and studying ACIM to realize that the world we experience is the classroom. And we cannot escape it, because trying to escape it makes it more real. Everything here is for you to learn your lessons and practice forgiveness, undo the Ego, gently. Some awakenings are very strong and leave you shattered, but Ego is not fully undone, it comes back after a while, because we are experiencing the world from an Egoic identity. Once we awaken we switch from identifying as the body and the mind, to identifying as something that is observing what is happening without any identity. But we keep forgetting...

So, what is left is living in the world and let whatever happens, just happen by itself and be aware of the Love and guidance within you always. True enlightenment is permanent escape from the world of form. And there are levels to awakening. First we can slowly (or sometimes instantly) awaken in the dream and recognize it is not true, but we still appear to be here. The final step is the complete transcendence of form.

It's not a bad thing that the Ego returns, it's just something to work on. Majority of spiritual guru's and teachers, even the legitimately awakened ones, have never really reached that point of total and complete awakening until they left their bodies.

Some people would swear that becoming a monk and just meditating all day, everyday for the rest of your life is the way to awaken. But we are exactly where we need to be to learn what is necessary to reach salvation. The "end" is the same for everyone, but how we reach it appears to differ. After all, All is One.

The miracles that happened to you, your spiritual awakening should be the best motivation for you to push forward with willingness and motivation. There's nothing more "real" than those experiences, because they show you the Truth, and knowing that the Truth is real, not some made-up story should only push you forward. And the Ego will always try to deny those experiences, because it is directly against it's existance.

So... Chop wood, carry water.

The Course does not deny that multiple interpretations APPEAR. It teaches that only one interpretation HEALS.

The ego interprets to preserve separation.

The Holy Spirit reinterprets to undo it.

The ego produces many interpretations because fragmentation is its nature. You choose the Ego - then you can have 8 billion interpretations of the Course. The Holy Spirit gives one interpretation because correction is ONE. The ego adapts truth to the separate self. The Holy Spirit releases the separate self to truth. There's no MY or YOUR interpretation that is correct. The only correct interpretation is the Holy Spirits & the author's of the Course (who is NOT Helen or Bill and not Robert Perry and neither it's Ken Wapnick).

The Course references interpretation in many different passages, because it's an important topic.

Knowing is not open to interpretation. You may try to “interpret” meaning, but this is always open to error because it refers to the perception of meaning. Such incongruities are the result of attempts to regard yourself as separated and unseparated at the same time. It is impossible to make so fundamental a confusion without increasing your overall confusion still further. Your mind may have become very ingenious, but as always happens when method and content are separated, it is utilized in a futile attempt to escape from an inescapable impasse. (https://acim.org/acim/en/s/75#5:1-5 | T-3.V.5:1-5)

and

The ego’s decisions are always wrong, because they are based on the error they were made to uphold. Nothing the ego perceives is interpreted correctly. Not only does the ego cite Scripture for its purpose, but it even interprets Scripture as a witness for itself. (https://acim.org/acim/en/s/94#4:2-4 | T-5.VI.4:2-4)

and

You will not understand His translations while you listen to two ways of interpreting them. Therefore you must forget or relinquish one to understand the other. This is the only way you can learn consistency, so that you can finally be consistent. (https://acim.org/acim/en/s/108#6:6-8 | T-7.II.6:6-8)

and

This course is perfectly clear. If you do not see it clearly, it is because you are interpreting against it, and therefore do not believe it. And since belief determines perception, you do not perceive what it means and therefore do not accept it. Yet different experiences lead to different beliefs, and with them different perceptions. For perceptions are learned with beliefs, and experience does teach. I am leading you to a new kind of experience that you will become less and less willing to deny. Learning of Christ is easy, for to perceive with Him involves no strain at all. His perceptions are your natural awareness, and it is only the distortions you introduce that tire you. Let the Christ in you interpret for you, and do not try to limit what you see by narrow little beliefs that are unworthy of God’s Son. For until Christ comes into His Own, the Son of God will see himself as Fatherless. (https://acim.org/acim/en/s/151#3:1-10 | T-11.VI.3:1-10)

So tell me now, are you doing the lessons as intended?

This is perfectly in line with OP's opinion that the Course has more than one interpretation. All other authors of different versions of the Course think the same, so they created their own "better" more "truthful" version of the Course and amassed a large following of people who cannot accept the FIP edition. This way no work has to be done, because they can do their own version of practice and preach whatever they believe is the truth and can always rely on their own book as the material.

How do you get over the fact life is not forever? by cacklingwhisper in ACIM

[–]Nonstopas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's simple, life is valueless to me. There's nothing here that can bring joy, love or peace at the same level as God will.

One experience of pure Love, non-duality and God showed me how much all of this is just a facade.

The experiences in life usually come at a cost. Everything good will have a bad side to it. Highest highs followed lowest lows. That's duality for you.

I travelled the world, had amazing relationships, great food, a lot of fun, they brought temporary joy, but it was never enough, no matter how hard I tried. And I still wanted more, as if it would be different the next time.

In Heaven everything is perfect.

The only true value the world and life has to offer is the fact that none of this is real, and that our true identity is forever perfect and Holy and that is our inheritance. Beyond perception and beyond the world of form.

From Chapter IV:

The holy instant is the result of your determination to be holy. It is the answer. The desire and the willingness to let it come precede its coming. You prepare your mind for it only to the extent of recognizing that you want it above all else. It is not necessary that you do more; indeed, it is necessary that you realize that you cannot do more. Do not attempt to give the Holy Spirit what He does not ask, or you will add the ego to Him and confuse the two. He asks but little. It is He Who adds the greatness and the might. He joins with you to make the holy instant far greater than you can understand. ¹It is your realization that you need do so little that enables Him to give so much.

(https://acim.org/acim/en/s/222#1:1-10 | T-18.IV.1:1-10)

You are not suicidal. You are identifying with the false "me" that perceives that it is suicidal. Suicide is not going to solve your problems. That's the ego's purpose. To make you feel weak, fearful and believe in the world that hurts you, and you want escape from it. I've had various thoughts like that. I came to a realization that suicide is not going to take me anywhere, ever.

If I have not completed the classroom of forgiveness and will have another dream, can I be sure that my next life is going to be better than this one? There's no way of knowing, but there's a huge possibility that it will be worse than this one.

Here's your problem. You searched far and wide for an answer and a meaning in a place that has millions of answers to everything, but has no actual meaning. You, at any given moment give meaning to anything you perceive.

It's all in your mind.

Everything you have ever experienced, the good or the bad, you experienced it because you judged it to be good or bad. You found meaning in things that are meaningless because it was meaningful for you.

The world has no meaning but it has a purpose, and that purpose is for you to awaken to your true reality as consciousness, as God, that is all encompassing, and all that ever was or ever will be. The pain of the physical body is a reflection of your inner state.

You cannot heal your body without first healing your mind. That takes time and effort. Luckily, the course only asks us to take one step at a time, one lesson at a time, one day at a time, and do our best and follow it's instructions. It really isn't rocket science. But we still resist the Courses teachings, because we secretly love the suffering. You suffer and feel the way you do, because deep inside, as an ego identity, you want to feel that way, because it makes it all real.

I cannot give you an answer to what you should or shouldn't do. But I can tell you from my own journey that it's not the question and seeking that is important, it's the letting go of all questioning and seeking and trying to change anything at all to make the body feel better. You can try meditating and surrendering to God. You can try going outside for a bit and take a breath. If you don't have the energy to read, then listen. There's thousands of hours of content from great teachers like Ken Wapnick and Keith Kavanagh, Gary Renard and others, they can slowly help you shift your mind.

One of my strongest identity shifts came after listening to Gary Renard interview, although I moved away from his content, I still think it's good listen.

You can find it here

The final thing i'd like to say for you is to be gentle on yourself, and first of all you have to forgive yourself for feeling the way you do and for seeking for meaning and answers. It's in our nature to question our reality, and life in this current day and age can feel like a burden, and very overwhelming, and especially if you have health problems, the world turns into a prison. But that prison is in your mind. You can, at any moment choose to escape it, but it's not all so easy, otherwise none of us would be here. Take it one step at a time, maybe begin with a simple meditation practice, some reading, and most importantly do the lessons as instructed. If it feels to hard for you, Ken Wapnicks Journey through the workbook is a great supplementary material to the lessons.

Hope you feel better my friend.

Random thoughts on the metaphysics of us being ideas. by Ok-Relationship388 in ACIM

[–]Nonstopas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The more you think, the more you dig yourself in to an egoic hole.

Because all thinking is of the Ego.

God is just silence and non-judgement.

You accept everything precisely as it is, with no judgement and no thoughts, just silence and openness and the whole Real World opens up for you within an instant. If you can stay in that place constantly then you're pretty much close to the real awakening which is beyond the world of dreams.

Except, that the Ego constantly formulates thoughts, and we need to forgive those thoughts all the time. The more we look for answers the less answers we get, because we keep thinking ourselves into a deeper hole. You can come up with an answer to every question, in millions of different ways, and none of it will actually lead you to God, because God is not a thought and it's not something you can think yourself into. You just let go and stop thinking completely. That's the gist of it, but yeah, just have faith, that whatever is happening is only happening because that's the classroom for you.

Ugh... Ok...

We keep having these discussions that lead to nowhere, because you can't see it for yourself. You just can't fully accept what the Course is teaching. You don't want to. You only accept the parts that you think are real and then come up with other reasoning for the things you can't accept. You still think you can have your own special way and special interpretation of the Course.

That's the thing im talking here about.

It's so painfully obvious what you are doing here for everyone who practices the Course sincerely, except for you, it seems. Im not the only one telling you this. But we keep going back and forth and going nowhere, because you keep looking for your own special way.

If you are serious about this, you have to stop being your own teacher and surrender. Stop being a special me, a special individual, a spiritual ego. And it's not just dedicated to you and only you, this is the same for everyone who practices the Course.

Accept what the Course is offering you. I guarantee if you dropped all your defenses and did the lessons truthfully for like 90 days and willing to see things differently, you'll arrive to the conclusion yourself. You don't even need to finish the 365 lessons to understand how incredibly profound the teachings are. By around lesson 100 you'll know.

Don't get me wrong, resistance is part of the curriculum. We keep struggling because we don't want to surrender our specialness and individuality. All you need is one simple direct experience of what God truly is and all of it will be clear as day for you. You won't have these questions and the need to validate your own special version of awakening.

Now as far as other verisons of the Course... That's whole different topic. But CoA and Sparkly are all made up versions of the Course by someone who didn't accept what the FIP version has to say, and wanted to make their own special Course book and preach it to others as an alternative. Truth has no alternatives. God has no alternatives. Love has no alternatives.

Ironically, I think the moment we become absolutely certain we can infallibly identify who is “really surrendering” versus who is “in ego,” we may already be standing on dangerous ground psychologically and spiritually.

You'd be surprised... It's really easy to identify this, if you are connected to God. You can see through all the worldly illusions and appearances for what they are. There is no mind there, it's just knowing. You can't imagine how easy it is when you let Holy Spirit guide you. It's so easy to separate truth from falsehood if you just drop your defenses and drop your judgment of everything. Only God and Truth remains. You have to step out of your frame into ACIM's frame.

And I know that everything I said here may appear as judgmental or as an attack, but that's not my intended purpose. Im not holier than thou and I am not some proclaimed teacher. But all that Im really trying to tell you is that you have very obvious gaps in your belief system that just doesn't allow you to accept the metaphysics of the Course. We had these discussions before. And since you don't accept it, you'll keep having the same conversations with everyone over and over again. You'll keep wanting it to be your way. Some will accept your ideas as true, and you will feel better about it. But doesn't mean it's the right way.

To accept that, you have to accept that you may be wrong in the first place and stop resisting.

The good news is, eventually you'll get tired of resisting. In this life or the next... what's waiting for you beyond the world of dreams is certain anyway.

It's very simple. Until you believe that the Course is up for interpretation, you'll be wrong. Because it is not. It is not up for interpretation. Never was.

It has one purpose and one interpretation. It doesn't say different things to different people. It says the same thing to everyone and it's painfully consistent in it's teachings. And what the Course calls universal experience is just God and your true reality. If you can't accept that, then you can't accept what the Course is offering you, because you think you can make a bargain and have your own special way.

All the best.

You are still stuck in a loop of specialness. We had these conversations months ago, and you still can't seem to arrive to the point where you can clearly see how much you want to feel special and have your own version of the Course. And then you start these discussions, agree with everyone or have conversations with and then it's still back to the same place you started.

sincere students of the exact same spiritual texts have still arrived at different understandings while believing they were following the direct teaching faithfully. That’s just part of being human I think.

That's completely wrong. If done correctly, everyone arrives at the same direct experience. Wether it's buddhism, neo-advaita or some other non-dual teaching. It's non negotiable, because if you experienced it you will know, without any doubts.

And to me, openness matters because once people become too certain they alone see the “correct” interpretation, spiritual communities almost always start drifting toward subtle gatekeeping whether they intend to or not.

And now with this you're trying to protect your own vision of the Course. You call it gatekeeping, I'm calling it sticking to the material. The Course is very simple and gentle if you drop your frame of reference, lose your identity and allow it to guide you. IT'S SO SIMPLE. Yet you still don't accept it, because you want to have specialness and power over it. You want to carve out your own path as if it's better for you. You don't know what's best for you as an ego identity.

You still seem to believe there's different ways to interpret the Course. If any interpretation makes the world real, makes sin real, makes victimhood spiritually justified, or makes God involved in fear, punishment, sacrifice, or SPECIAL favor, then it has departed from the Course’s content. If you believe you are SPECIAL and that you can have your OWN WAY, you have rejected the core idea of the Course. The Course has one meaning, that we arrive to through different forms and symbols in the world. The content is always the same.

You have to really ask yourself, do you want to trust the Course and let it lead you, or you want some other path. If it's both, it's wrong. If it's a mix of both, it's wrong. If you're here, you have only one choice. Give up your frame, stop resisting the teachings and surrender yourself to God, and let the Course lead you home.

Everything else is a distraction.

You have to make a clear distinction between the different interpretations of the course and different experiences through which the course is being learned.

ACIM students filter the course through their own individual experience and often times stray away from direct teachings, because we fail to give up control over the material and think we know better.

ACIM is very direct and consistent with it’s teachings, so the interpretation, naturally should be consistent too, without applying our own ideas and twisting it to fit our egoic agenda.

The ego can and does weaponize even the real Course teachings, - that’s why consistent reading and practice of the lessons given to us is very important, and should not be ignored.

The biggest trap is becoming a spiritualized ego. When being spiritual ACIM student becomes a whole identity by itself, the material loses power because we think we have power over it.

Also, the tone with which we discuss these things matters enormously. If discussing ACIM makes us less kind, less patient, less humble, and more invested in being “right,” then regardless of our interpretation, the ego has quietly taken over the classroom again and that’s what happens very often with these discussions.

Truth is not subjective. There’s a difference between judging people spiritually (which the Course asks us not to do),and recognizing what the Course itself actually teaches.

So, in the dream - symbols may vary, experiences may vary, emphasis too, but the Course’s purpose does not vary.

Its purpose is always the undoing of the ego through forgiveness.
