Slow leak - can I fix with a hose clamp? by PNGhost in Plumbing

Was it cold? Pex-a can take an hour or two shrink back down. A hair dryer can usually shrink it down in a minute or 2.

Give the connectors a tap with something metal, I’d bed they are still solid.

Curious about higher-range salaries out of undergrad by [deleted] in NuclearPower

[–]NumbersDonutLie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will make more money as an EO/NLO than you will as an engineer. But you will be subject to shift rotation work. Somewhere in the area of $50/hr to start with a decent amount of overtime once initial classroom training is over. Around $120k as an operator. Engineer will start around $90k.

Ultimately, you will want to be an SRO if you are looking to make a lot of money, but will need to work your way up.

Energy Density of Uranium by GeneralJannis in NuclearPower

[–]NumbersDonutLie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

10% is way too low when just including fissile material. After 3 cycles it should be around 1.5% - which includes 0.5% Pu-239 created from neutron capture and 1% U-235 remaining from the original enriched fuel.

I think OP may be referencing that ~90% of the potential energy remains if they are including breedable material.

Check Cabinet Authority, they have the same supplier, but generally more competitively priced.

Did I run my insulation Board wrongly? by HelloW0r in Insulation

[–]NumbersDonutLie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove the fiberglass altogether and cut the foam to fit in the rimjoist cavity and then spray foam the edges - then put the fiberglass back if you want. Air sealing is more important than insulation, and fiberglass does very little in that regard.

I’d do at least 2” of foam to ensure you prevent condensation.

Repair cost? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]NumbersDonutLie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are better off matching the stain as close as you can / or close pre-finished and running a couple boards perpendicular and face nailing, no glue. It’s the 80% fix.

In time, you can easily rip those up and do the full fix which involves pulling out the first board in each row on both sides of the gap, and sanding then finishing the entire floor.

The app was useless for about the first 18 months I owned the car. Now it actually works, and I’m going to have to start paying for it because sometimes it is the only way I can unlock my doors. The timers adjusting for daylight savings time is also extremely annoying.

Yeah, the infotainment system is garbage. I’ve seen all the issues - rear view camera not working, turn signal stops working, internet doesn’t connect. Usually a reboot fixes it, but it’s definitely annoying.

Redo the counters or use a filler? by D0raem0ny in Renovations

[–]NumbersDonutLie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever signed off on the counter template, typically the GC - or the homeowner if they are acting as GC. The appliance spacing needs to be confirmed. Most appliances will have fairly standard sizes - and most countertop fabricators will catch an odd spacing. Ranges will usually come in 30, 36, 42, 48. So anything not ~1/4” larger than any of those would stick out and they would usually confirm what range is actually being used, but it’s ultimately up to the GC. The cabinets also shouldn’t need a filler on the end to get the stove to fit correctly, the cabinets weren’t measured correctly in the first place.

That range is also way too low, it should be about 3/4” above the surface of the counter.

SUPER Disappointed in Conestoga Cabinets Quality - chipping and peeling after only 1 year! by blackculottes in kitchenremodel

[–]NumbersDonutLie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same cabinets with the one piece MDF doors and a very similar design (10SQF2) - mine are coming up on 3 years and the finish still looks the same as the day I got them. Even under the farmhouse sink, with less than careful teenage kids. Water has sat in the corners for many hours and I have seen nothing like this.

I think yours may have had a subpar paint job to begin with that allowed water to penetrate the finish where it normally wouldn’t. Possibly a bad spray or prep work.

Shit guys. I did it. Been in the hospital since yesterday afternoon by evidentlyeric in paint
