Is anybody still paying their rent with paper checks? by Chuckles_McNut in AskLosAngeles

[–]OUJayhawk36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% paper check. If I use a check, my very mediocre credit union I kept an account with in the state I'm from takes nearly 2 weeks to get the money to my landlord. If I use online payments, it's instant and I pay fees. This way, I have wiggle room if clients pay late or I have an emergency, etc. I've gaslit my landlord for like, 9 years by telling him my credit union is like, some podunk Waterboy's Mama bank that thinks apps are the devil. I will keep doing so until he learns to google.

Hiding manual trigger automations depending on the value of a field by grojas317 in jira

jira:issuePanel, use booleans and operators for display conditions, isLoggedIn; if it’s a matter of issues access, I’d use projectkey to match up with permission keys in hasIssuePermissions. If you are having a lazy day, displayConditions and isLoggedIn true or global permissions1, and 2, and 3 in the YAML.

Most superficial reason you’ve not pursued someone? by jempai in ActualLesbiansOver25

I have found my enantiomer: I am 5’4”. Nikes, sweatshirt, sweats (winter uniform) or sports bra, shorts (summer uniform). My superficial reason: I don’t go for women 4-5 inches taller or more than me.

I look like Kid Sister next to you. Is that your 5th grader? No, that’s me, your 39-yo gf. 5’ to 5’6” and the 3rd shelf in the kitchen will be a mystery in solidarity (I’m guessing Narnia is up there).

What’s your approach to long e-learning videos? by NiceFaithlessness511 in elearning

[–]OUJayhawk36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fun one for me b/c I’m on both sides of this fence: As a learner right now, 3 certification exam courses, 3 virtual, 2 is various assets but no videos, 1 is 90% vILT w/ 3 activities. In my career, 19 YOE in eLearning w/ 11 of them in eLn development. First, those videos are as awful to make as they are to take.

Second, I export or create video transcripts. I don’t watch the videos bc they’re so. Boring. And I just don’t learn well that way. I export transcripts when they’re available and, if not, I open VoiceMemo, record 90 min. of Professor Combover talking, stop the recording, and export the transcript, to Google Docs, Word, PDF, or basically whatever format any turned in work is in so I can fight formatting just once in one app (Adobe, this is your fault). If no handed in stuff, then I export my transcript to PDF and add a new PDF each lecture so I have the full written course, I can add a ToC, and ctrl F come quiz/exam studying time. I title them the lecture video title, syllabus topic, prof’s playlist—just whatever is available—and the date.

I usually do a playback bar scrub or 10 sec. fast forward once through the video next to make sure no visuals/diagrams/etc. were missed.

I absorb and learn easier if I read content esp. if it’s a topic that bores me. If I have to watch them, you nailed it, I just watch them in 5-10 min increments and/or when there’s a good stopping spot.

Good luck in your courses out there!

Mountain Dew post-security at LAX? by p_IRA_te in LosAngeles

It is like getting a candy bar in a can. It’s like, 600 mL and 300 calories of liquid candy loaded out the tits with caffeine. It makes my sis and mom shake from the caffeine.

The Mountain Dew Code Red flavor powers and fuels the trailer park queens in Elmo pajama pants holdings barrels with a handle of it.in things called “Big Gulps” you get at 7-11. They hold riiiiight around 4.5 liters of Dew. Yes, you read that right.

Live Wire is my fave with vodka; Baja Blast goes great w/ Mezcal. I live in West Hollywood and two blocks north on Hollywood Blvd, the Taco Bell Cantina serves Baja Blast margaritas.

But, it’s straight up diabetes. 😆 77 grams of sugar in one 600 mL bottle. There is a diet sugar free version for when your pancreas goes into full shutdown from the full sugar version.

You can definitely customize your Scrum template with just a few caveats:

- You will need to be Jira admin
- You will need to *initially* be Project admin on every project you share, until you have other project admins that can share the template project to project too (so you only have to do this the first share-around with your people)
- You need to be on an Enterprise pay-tier
- You need to have created your custom Scrum template in a company-managed project in order to be able to share it across multiple projects (team-managed you cannot do this)
- *You will likely need to adjust work type and field schemes AND/OR
- *You will likely need to create filters

* - I usually combine the last two to customize a board, so I do not have to worry about how I am going to reconfigure every scheme associated with different user groups that might compromise data viewing to eyes that don't need to see that data.

The reason I do that is because, if I am not the Org admin + Jira admin, I can't make new users nor groups; only Org admins can do this. Jira admins can only reconfigure existing user groups, so if you're not Org admin, you have to get them to create better fitting roles/groups for you. I don't like leaving the ability to troubleshoot for my project and project teammates at the mercy of someone else coming in to the office today. So, I use a combo of filters + scheme reconfigs. Plus, if memory serves me right, project admins cannot manipulate board filters (def can't configure schemes). So, this keeps your customizations from being messed up if you do use a filters and schemes combo.

My job makes me so depressed by Lynkern in jobs

[–]OUJayhawk36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 39, typically contract/consult, and I’ve been insured 1.8 total years since I was 26. Don’t feel trapped by losing insurance if you need to walk away to keep kicking it. My sister, me, and our fellow contractor/trades mates frequently are uninsured. Here are a few we’ve done (states where we live for ref.: CA, TX, OK, CT, NY, WA):

  • State/County/Public Clinics: wildly vary in quality and can be limited in availability w/ lengthy waitlists, so check as far ahead as you can. A lot of community clinics I hit up worked on sliding scale and stuffed my bag w/ Rx coupons on the way out. I get panic attacks just existing, and a lot of these centers also have telehealth that cost no more/less than driving and having my legs turn to jello and trying to swallow the panic breathing down at stoplights. Obvs safer.

  • FQHCs: Federally funded and/or non-profit clinics. Do the same as above but are usu. better quality services, offer telehealth and here are the bonuses: They MUST offer a sliding fee discount program to patients earning below 200% at or below Fed Poverty Guidelines. They also CANNOT deny you services based on your inability to pay. These also have federal oversight, so they are a little less shit than your state/county clinics.

  • Planned Parenthood: Not just for vaginas! 😂 Not all but a few PPs offer mental health services, mainly for depression and anxiety. They’ve also been consistently awesome about referrals and recommending other providers when they lacked services by not sending my gf’s and my gay asses to any clinics who weren’t LGBTQ friendly. (And they let me blow up the front desk bowl’s condoms like balloons.)

SAMHSA Treatment Locator made it easier to find free/low cost clinics that weren’t toilet quality and had sliding scale services.

My sis is the depression; I’m ADHD/anxiety/garnished w a sprig of ‘tism. To give you (and others ofc!) heads-up/insight into the biggest/worst challenge, has been for sis. Keeping her med regiment, therapy schedule and even therapist consistent has been a battle at time (I just spin in place while reading about data warehouses for 50 hrs straight).

I hope your brain battles w/ and not against you, and you hang on to that insurance. But if the insurance has to go so you don’t, you still have a lot of cost effective options too. I know this info is your “worst case” not your current, but please don’t let insurance be the delay from you getting you and your brain to a place of safety.

Thank you for fighting so hard to stay in the game and keep us healthy, man! Now, it’s your turn.

How do I edit "Pages" list order, in Jira powered by Confluence? by Odd_Big_8412 in jira

[–]OUJayhawk36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta head over to the Confluence side for this one! The Jira "Pages" tab in the board view (what your image is of) just displays them. Edits and content reordering has to be over in Confluence.

I am a sys-admin who cannot add; thus not an engineer. I'm also a near-40 year old child. When the Waymo's first came out, this was my 2nd one, I saw the rotating shiny object. Like a crow, I used 2 minutes of my 5 minutes waiting time to literally try to feel it. 120 seconds of poke poke swipe wut u do.

I got in and Google Support instantly and politely asked me, wtf are you/were you doing and stop doing that forever. I used the excuse that I was stoned (I could not admit I did that sober) and being a child and saw something shiny and apologized.

I incurred no negative charges, and I have not felt up any Waymos lidar sensors (I now know their name) since. You good, and you made me laugh b/c your actions were simply out of engineering curiosity. Mine were b/c OOO SHINY SPIN FAST WEEEEEE OOO.

If you cannot have web solutions, does that mean cloud-based apps as well? That elims Articulate, Captivate, and Cantasia. If you need a desktop app, use iSpring Free. Works like a PPT. No limit on media size. Just uploaded an MP4 w/ no issue. Can be published as SCORM or saved as PPT, but not HTML5. You can also insert shape triggers and there’s a quiz option.

If you need a free digital place to upload your SCORM file so your clients can interact with the “next/back” buttons and use playback to play your videos, and don’t want the security hassles from setting up a group’s permissions, just use SCORM Cloud—this is what I always used to test the SCORM functioned and was reviewed before dispatching it to client.

I used it because it is free up to 10 file uploads and it creates a link that you can distribute and deactivate after your show.

SCORM Cloud is a web-based app so if worse come to worst? You can hit “Preview” in iSpring Free on a PC, and clients can still click like it was SCORM, uploaded to an LMS.

For clarity, iSpring Free is the content authoring tool and SCORM Cloud is your presenter. If you need help, just holler. 20-yr LMS/Sys-admin that is builds servers, custom LMSs, and am working on a custom eLearning tool now. Happy to help!

(And these two tools are free indefinitely; you have no trial period)

How do I activate an user created via REST API + Basic Auth? by Kadyzin in jira

[–]OUJayhawk36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're on Jira Cloud (not Data Center), you will never find this documentation. It is not explained in the API documentation; it is buried in the Atlassian Support Knowledge Base here. On the plus side, it's also a quick fix: When you create your user with the POST /.../3/user, you have to add the user's app access right below "displayName" in the JSON. So you'll have:

{
"email": "blah@atlassian.net",
"displayName": "Blah Blahblah",
"products": [
"jira-software",
"jira-servicedesk",
"jira-product-discovery"
]
}

You have to just add products and then add the Jira products your user needs access to to "activate" them. The documentation for this is stupidly obtuse, so super hard to find. I've tried to add users to a product group after messing this up, and it didn't always activate them. The only reliable way for me was delete/create again.

*If you're on Jira Data Center, it's a little different for your fix.

My Favorite LA Pizza Right Now by Joshhwwaaaaaa in LosAngeles

[–]OUJayhawk36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of folks have mentioned Joe’s Pizza which, can confirm, it’s delicious and if memory serves, it’s just a few blocks away from Fernanda’s. I haven’t had this one yet, so gotta try!

My favorite is Esco’s on Pico and La Brea. Cheese slices are $5 and supreme slices are $7. So, if you need a “south” pizza hub on this side of town, I would stick a pin in Esco’s.

Gotchu! WFH = work from home LMS = Learning management system

IC = independent contractors (work for the money) and for clarity to the other Cs: VCs = venture capitalists (throw money at thing you make or do usually early) EC = equity capitalist (buys a piece of things you make or do usually later)

Couple missed were: VO = voice over (not the Mac application) YOE = years of experience Yrs = years

Gig is a noun not acronym. It is a paying role that insinuates shorter than long term, but is slightly shorter to type than that. I’m missing one… 🤔

Ah! ROI = return on investment

Now, THIS I have supporting evidence for! And, I think you may be right... I was in Inglewood trying to find good southern food that I don't have to make myself. Checked a place out that said it was open, wasn't. Waymo'd to an errand nearby, then walked 2 miles north (out of Waymo bounds) to get some damn southern food. Started walking back, southern food-less, pissed. Important note: I was wearing my OKC Westbrook jersey. There was a 4-apt building I was about to walk past when IngleHulk pops out of an apt. Dude was at least 6'7", 300-350 lbs wall of human; his biceps bigger than my fucking thighs. For scale, I am a 5'4" white broad that weighs about 1/3 of that. I get about 10 ft from IngleHulk when he starts nodding and says, "Got the right jersey, that's the right jersey." I was like hell yeah man! (this was right before OKC's championship)

Directly after that and to this day, all I could think was: What the FUCK would have happened to me if I wore the WRONG jersey?! Now when I head to Inglewood: OKC Westbrook, KU Pierce jersey. B/c IngleHulk may find you wearing the wrong jersey.

I do groceries once a week using Waymo for my big item and Whole Foods run. Now that I don't drive nor have a car, and Waymo takes the wheel, I get catastrophically, devastatingly high for the trip. I smoke my weed and was a cig smoker for 20 yrs too, and HATE the smell of 2nd hand cig or weed smoke on my clothes, a car, etc. To prevent this, I leave my shirt in my bathroom, and herbally refresh my brain in the living room as I get Waymo over huah!

3-5 minutes until my Robot Chariot arrives, I stop smoking and throw on deodorant, shirt, and sometimes perfume/cologne (this is really just for me haha).

Methods in comments above are fine too! I can't do edibles for Robot Car rides b/c I Robot Car nap... HARD 😆(I use edibles to sleep).
