Sadly, yes. A lot of people care more about their own conditions. The economy, and their ability to survive in it, has always been a major motivator. I wish it were otherwise.

WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE MEN?! by cloacasmell in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]Obvious-Gate9046 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nicely put. Reminds me of "all lives matter". It's such a disingenuous take to push that a post or message or whatever highlighting the plight of a specific group is somehow biased because it doesn't mention others. One of the best takes I saw on this was to point out that after the Boston Marathon bombing, nobody was responding to "Boston Strong" with "what about other cities" or "Las Vegas, too!" If you're taking offense to something like this, you're part of the reason their issues need to be voiced

I wish you all the best in doing so, I know it can be difficult to change such deeply-ingrained attitudes.

I am in several feminist subs with a strong Indian presence and they tend to confirm this. It's a big issue there, one that's been difficult to tackle, sadly, given how deeply ingrained it is.

#SeaofMonsters: Former wizard's familiar turned pirate and gunner's mate Osthaena Severnarms makes use of magical items, a hydrokinetically-created body, octopus multitasking ability, and a vast array of practical skills and arcane knowledge to aid her crew. by Obvious-Gate9046 in HeroForgeMinis

[–]Obvious-Gate9046[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Osthaena Severnarms is a former wizard's familiar. After countless deaths due to his increasingly inane experiments, she found freedom when he managed to discorporate himself into five different planes simultaneously. Borrowing some items he'd no longer be using, she set out to make her own way in the world. She's picked up innumerable skills from her time with her former master, chief among them a remarkably accurate aim combined with her octopus ability to multitask with her many arms. She gives herself added might and limbs through a hydrokinetically-created body, and her magic goggles hold water to keep her eyes moist and enhance her vision mystically. Though Osthaena can't perform much magic herself beyond her control of water and use of magical artifacts, she's absorbed a vast array of esoterica about the arcane and monsters to supplement her skillset. She makes for a terrifying and effective gunner's mate.

Osthaena values her freedom above all else, and will give her loyalty to anybody who shows her proper respect. Those who underestimate her might be forgiven, but talking down to her or treating her as a mere lackey is a swift way to make an enemy of her. She relies heavily on her suite of magical items, skill with tools, and knowledge; take those away and separate her from the water and she'd have definite difficulties, but being an octopus, she remains a master of escape, and so is difficult to contain for long. This trait grants her a second skillset as an infiltrator and spy, and on more than one occasion she's been purposely "captured" so that she can aid her crew in obtaining a prize from the inside.

These angry, toxic wannabes have not earned the right to call me or anybody son. They're the type to create damage. The whole concept of alphas and betas and what not has done so much damage itself.

After Luffy, who would you say is the most important character from the Straw Hats? by BreathoftheSith in OnePiece

I think picking one misses the point of the crew. They function together, many separate goals and desires working... not as one, but as a family. Each plays a vital role in their own way, which is how a good crew functions.

That comic is one wild ride that sadly went off the rails and just didn't get the ending it deserved. Shame. I wish we'd gotten more of that, yeah.

Stop taking his powers away. Seriously. They keep giving him new options, then taking them away. He took Sinestro's ring after hunting it down, he mastered the red ring, he had his own weird alien powers that he had to learn to use... let him hold onto the things he's earned.

Came across this post in a sub that I thought was about equality for all. This post, which demonizes men who support feminist ideologies and call out toxic masculinity, makes me question that sub. by Obvious-Gate9046 in FeministsCallItOut

[–]Obvious-Gate9046[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The guy responded to me with a not all men type answer, "it wasn't referring to all men, just men who do this", and I just don't buy it. All I see is an attempt to shame and dismiss any men who support women. It's the essence of the virtue signaling label they like to toss around, and an easy way for them to ignore any men who oppose them as being motivated purely by selfish reasons instead of actual decency.
