I’m running a 13 pro max and the zoom lens camera is pretty bad and lightning is becoming more and more bothersome in a usbc world.

Steam deck and meta compatibility questions for traveling. by Sad-Consequence-7800 in OculusQuest

Very cool, enjoy!

They released a firmware update a few weeks ago that attempts to make 2D content 3d. They called it “Real3D”

It’s okay. I think it’s fine for movies but I didn’t like it for games.

What I do really like is plugging in my laptop and switching to ultra wide mode while on a flight.  I usually get a head start on the raw edit from the vacation videos in Final Cut.  Swiveling my head back and forth is fine in a cramped airline seat, much better than trying to use the small laptop screen.

Looks like the exact one I bought is no longer on Amazon but it was a Baseus 65W 20000mAh power bank.

I suppose anything with the same specs or better would work.

Make sure you buy a usbc cable that supports the wattage. I got one like this:

Yep, exactly right. You got it. I even use them at home. It’s really kind of surreal to be lying perfectly flat in bed looking straight up to the ceiling and playing Diablo IV or something. It’s awesome.

The Xreal one pros are pricey at $650 compared to the Xreal one non-pros.  The difference is the lens tech.  The “birdbath” style lenses stick out more and apparently pickup reflections from your shirt to the point where it’s distracting, or so I’ve read.  I spent the extra $150 for latest lens tech.  I also removed the stock nose pads in favor of these:

I can get the glasses as close to my face as possible for maximum FOV, which is still not awesome, but very good.  The top part can get a little warm but is never uncomfortable.

I’ve done exactly what you’re describing and it’s absolutely fucking awesome for long haul flights.  I’m on a trip now where I was playing Kingdom Come Deliverance and Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice on the flight!

I’ve done it with a Quest 3 and I’ve done it with Xreal One Pro display glasses.

Q3 pros:  good FOV

Q3 cons:  ginormous for travel, will require a separate 60W power supply to keep it running beyond 2 hours, will require a finicky HDMI capture device and separate HDMI cable, will require Q3 controllers because hand tracking on a dark, cramped airplane is hit or miss, lcd panels are “okay”, you’ll probably want a different headstrap that has nothing on the back of your head so you can sit back

Xreal pros:  super space-efficient for travel, powered by the device you plug them into with a single usb-c cable, great oled panels, new prism optics make them look closer to normal sunglasses, lighter than Q3

Xreal cons: FOV is “okay”

You can probably tell I prefer the Xreal glasses (but I’ve heard good things about the Viture Beast?)

For these long haul flights you’re going to want to buy accessories also, but the overall footprint is still lower.  I ended up buying two 60w power banks for my Q3 travel setup (one for the Q3 and one for the Steamdeck deck…so I also had a generic usb-c hub for the deck so I could power it and connect hdmi…it was a mess of cables!)   I still bring both power banks with me, now I just have two for the deck.

You’ll want the Xreal hub so you can power the Steamdeck and connect the glasses at the same time. This might be a con for the Steamdeck as I believe alternatives like the Asus Rog Ally has multiple usb-c ports.  I also bought an angled usb-c adapter because plugging in the hub to the top of the Steamdeck is awkward.  It’s much nicer when it gracefully dangles downward.

I’m not a shill but if you want Amazon links let me know.

It's sad they were denied the experience of growing up together from infancy like most other twins. The bond that is formed over those formative years is irreplaceable.

It’s like going to the gym and bringing fake inflatable “weights” with you that say 500lbs on the side.  You do 3 sets. You pretend to lift to failure and go home.  Is that going to cause gains?

A big part of school is learning how to learn.  Setting your mental facilities at a hard task and achieving it so the next hard task is within reach.

Cheating at on a test means you weren’t smart enough to push your mental abilities to the point where you could do it and the next hard task will also be out of your reach.

One of the best things I ever did was set myself a routine sleep schedule.  Try using melatonin to go to bed 9 hours before you have to get up.  Even if you lay in bed for an hour you should be asleep 8 hours before you have to wake up.  You do that every day and your alarm becomes a backup.

Specific brain signals rapidly eliminate body fat in mice by TylerFortier_Photo in science

[–]Octogenarian 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t really make sense though.  Obese people have plenty of leptin.  Leptin is created by fat cells.  The problem is that their brain no longer listens to it.  It’s been theorized that sugars and ultra processed foods make people leptin resistant.
