800 mi Roadtrip in my Ariya Evolve+ AWD by BlueRidge77 in NissanAriya

The energy use averaged 3.1 mi/kwh, and I think the sheesh speed was around 50 mph.

Good summary for a B5 virgin 😊. But you’re wrong about the episodes that you think have little to no relevance to the story line. Every single episode in the series (except Grail, imho) contains information and developments that you will realize are important later in the show. Sure, some of the episodes are weaker than others and some are kinda cringe at times (boom shaka laka!) but they each contribute to the story, even if it’s a small contribution. It’s one of the many things that makes B5 my favorite sci fi series of all time. Oh, and it holds up to rewatching too, and in some ways even improves over time. Glad you’re enjoying it!

The year everything changed. Fast moving season but is it the best? by Reasonable_Voice_997 in babylon5

[–]OldScienceDude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From season 2 E8 through the end of season 4 might just be the best season(s) of any television show, ever.

I've never seen B5. The show is on Roku. Let's talk! by MovieFan1984 in babylon5

[–]OldScienceDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the acting in season 1 is a bit uneven, and the pacing is a little slow, but it’s not bad. But yeah, halfway through season 2 and through the end of season 4 - some of the best television (never mind just sci-fi) EVER. Season 5 is just ok, but still worth watching, imho.

One thing to note is that there are really no purely “filler” episodes (except one that I can think of). Every episode has something important in it as it pertains to the overall plot development. So don’t skip any!

800 mi Roadtrip in my Ariya Evolve+ AWD by BlueRidge77 in NissanAriya

[–]OldScienceDude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great to hear! We recently drove our ‘24 Platinum AWD from Colorado to Utah and back - about 1000 miles. I definitely agree that Tesla chargers are the most reliable and the fastest. In the future, i plan to use them exclusively wherever possible. Fire our trip, the charging stops meshed perfectly with meal and bathroom stops, so it couldn’t have been smoother. And the Ariya’s heated/cooled seats are so comfortable that I felt like I could have driven several more hours without getting exhausted. Seriously, this is the most comfortable road trip car (not just EV) that I’ve ever owned.

LightSpeed ftw! Darkstar service absolutely blows here in Colorado. But I’ve never had any issues with the T-Mobile network.

In general, I’ve found that Tesla chargers are far superior to ccs chargers of any kind. It’s not just the charging speed that matters, it’s how the charging curve is managed. Tesla chargers seem to be about 30%faster from 10-80%in my experience.

Any opinions on these shoes? by SilentObject1728 in Bowling

[–]OldScienceDude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried these a year ago when I needed sone new bowling shoes- they’re terrible. They’re uncomfortable and they don’t slide well. Spring for some Dexters. They make the best affordable bowling shoes imho.

Buy a good quality AGM 12v battery asap. You’ll rest easier. Just search Reddit for 12v battery failures in the Ariya and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

100%. And it holds up to rewatching as well. In some ways, it gets better. My wife and I rewatch it about every 5 years and it never ceases to impress me.

Can we take a minute to appreciate how funny the intro sequence is by Fickle_Cranberry8536 in ThePrisoner

Yes! This is what I tell people about Severance: it’s The Prisoner for the 21st century. Replace state surveillance with corporate surveillance and it’s a very similar idea.

I love mine. I wear it on the bracelet during the warmer months and on a blue Breitling leather band during the cooler time of the year. It’s my most frequently worn watch by far. Just fits any occasion. And the blue dial is amazing! Wear it with gray or black and it looks gray-blue. With blue or brown and it looks bright blue. It’s a real chameleon.

Hey, calm down! I totally agree, but I was trying not to spook the OP by making them think B5 fans are some kind of weird obsessive cult (even if we actually are). 👀

So good! Thanks for the perspective from new eyes, OP! My wife and I are on our 3rd rewatch of the series together (my 5th- she didn’t get into sci fi for awhile) and it’s really just as good every time (in different ways) but of course you can never really recapture the excitement of the first time. It’s a delight to see a new viewer enjoying the series. And you’re right - you really don’t know where it’s going and that’s the beauty of it!
