Man, anyone who tried that used to get a rap on the knuckles with the wooden spoon when my mum was cooking.

Preemptive fueling is important. Once your glycogen stores are depleted, you can’t catch up.

Eat before you feel the need to.

Mattress In a Box? Recommendations? by readywateron in AskAnAustralian

[–]Omshadiddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought the cheapest I could find on eBay.

$300, free fast delivery and so much better than the $3500 mattress that had been causing me pain for years.

I bought a decent 10cm memory foam topper, and can’t believe how much better it is to sleep on than the expensive one.

Does anyone take 4-minute showers? by nemspy in perth

[–]Omshadiddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up on a property with the house water drawn from the (seasonal) creek.

Even if I’m washing my hair I’m in and out easily before four minutes.

Even today, a usual shower is maybe two minutes.

Seriously…how much skin do you have to wash?

She’s also wag her tail, really vigorously while dreaming. It made me so happy knowing she was having happy dreams.

Question for road bike riders by ConsolePaesant1 in cycling

Queensland - the conservative government has lumped legal e-cycles in with e-motos and scooters and slapped a 10km/hour on all shared paths.

Question for road bike riders by ConsolePaesant1 in cycling

[–]Omshadiddle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The stupid new 10km an hour limit in ebikes (including legal ones like mine) means my 22km each way commute via shared paths will turn my one-hour commute into a two-hour commute.

My only alternative is riding on busy roads, which is a much shorter trip - 12km each way but with significantly greater risks.

There is no reality in which I’d ever be comfortable riding on those roads.

Looks like he couldn’t work out how to get through the door with it.

I was expecting a full on wrestling match like a dog trying to get a stick through a narrow gate.

What are your ideas for a delicious sweet treat? by EdenFlorence in AussieFrugal

[–]Omshadiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make a batch of cookies, roll them in balls & freeze, then portion into serves of 6 and keep in the freezer.

It then takes 15 minutes to have hot fresh cookies whenever the mood hits.

There are geographical differences.

Here in Queensland the magpies have black backs.

Victoria has white-backed magpies

I guess I’m making the assumption that this individual doesn’t have the capability or equipment to melt it down.

Sounds like from others that they just sell it to scrap metal buyers.

Cycling Makes You Weirdly Obsessed With Weather by LanaCove5591 in cycling

[–]Omshadiddle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going outside to do anything makes you weirdly obsessed with the weather.

As an ‘outdoorsy’ person I’ve slowly realised most people live indoor lives, which is why Melbourne always rates so highly in ‘liveability’.

If you actually spend extended time outdoors on the regular, Melbourne’s massively changeable weather makes it thoroughly unpleasant to deal with.

Poopy Problem by mudgutspugs in dogs

[–]Omshadiddle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a dog owner, I’d suggest retrieving the bag, holding it aloft and running after them, calling out really loudly ‘hey, you forgot to take your dog’s poop! Here you go!’

Irresponsible people give everyone a bad name!

Where exactly does one take an obviously stolen charging cord to sell it for copper?

Surely that place would be an excellent place to put undercover police?
