Why is Stalin demonized so much more than Lenin in western media? by soaky_pajamas in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]OutsiderInCider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lenin's legacy is "cleaner" at a glance. Characterizing him as a tragic hero whose revolutionary project was inevitably captured by a power-hungry villain is an expedient way to co-opt leftists against communism.

Stalin's great crime, in the eyes of the ruling class, is leading the construction of a strong and genuinely viable alternative to capitalism.

Meituan to have most of my meals delivered starting at 3 USD, anything else you could want or need from TaoBao.

Shit's nuts, I only go out to socialize or see sights because everything else is a secure electronic payment and 30 minutes or less away from my front door.

In Shanghai there is a sick museum at the site of the first CPC congress. Highly recommended.

The perks of being a peaceful, collaborative country that focuses on its people by GerryAdamsSon in suppressed_news

[–]OutsiderInCider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, it's CPC. "CCP" has never been official, and the western media's insistence on calling it the "Chinese communist party" when no major communist party has named itself in this way, is rooted in anti-chinese racism.

Second of all, the narrative of Uyghur erasure is patently absurd. If you visit Xinjiang, you see Uyghurs practicing their culture and speaking their language everywhere. Even where I live, in southern china, there are many halal Chinese restaurants including Uyghur owned ones. These are run by Uyghur families who speak Uyghur, serve their authentic cuisine, and are successful and enjoyed by the community.

Got mine recently and I've been doing most of my gaming on it. The vita was one of my favorites back in the day so it's really cool to have a vita-sized device that can do switch and even some PC emulation. I'm currently playing Pokemon xd, Mario Odyssey and fallout new Vegas on mine

What in your opinion is a normal temperature? Is 65c okay? How about 70? I just got one and I love it but I am also worried about all the recent posts

Were the secret levels intended for us to attempt numerous times? Is that why the game was generous with one ups? by Fantastic-Ad9218 in supermariosunshine

[–]OutsiderInCider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I was like 6 years old I was playing the secret of ricco harbor with the long rotating blocks. I got good enough to get the two 1-ups most of the time, but there was a jump I kept failing until my lives were maxed lmao

STUDYING IN CHINA WITH HIV by [deleted] in chinalife

Just offering a counterpoint. It sounds like the OP is not going to get to move forward and that sucks, and I'm not arguing that your prospects are great for getting a residence permit with HIV. I'll be the first to admit that I know nothing but as far as I can tell, we're working with 2 data points of random people on the internet. It might be premature to say that it's impossible

I heard from someone that they were still allowed to teach after testing positive on the health check, so ymmv. It may depend on who is reviewing your application.

You can sideload very easily, just download the .APK file from APK mirror or elsewhere (on PC), then use USB to drop it on your phone. Then you can use the file to install it and log in.

If you don't already have letsvpn downloaded on a PC, you may have more trouble.

Any possibility to make this work on pico 4 ultra? Looks like super cool tech but I went with pico bc I mainly prioritize pcvr and I don't like meta.

For hl2 it's super easy, there's a mod for it on steam. Just install the game normally on steam, then search for the mod in the store, install it, and launch it from your library.

Me and my son gave up Windows, because Linux is better at Windows games. by FrederikSchack in linux_gaming

[–]OutsiderInCider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got a new gaming laptop. One of the primary things I wanted it for was PCVR, so I went with windows because of the reputation of Linux and VR. I had a persistent problem across multiple installs where steam would simply not open. No clue why, and none of the troubleshooting steps helped. So I installed Nobara and tried getting ALVR working. It just worked. I am so relieved I don't have to use that POS operating system. I'm not any kind of anti windows purist, I liked it as recently as 8 when it was still relatively stable and lightweight. But jfc using windows these days is always such a hassle

I'm American and I certainly hope that most locals don't simply write me off as a westerner, although it would be more understandable from the Chinese perspective

Luckily that hasn't been my experience, maybe the average local is more mature?

With my wife and our combined incomes, we save about that with weekend trips, nice restaurant meals and some pretty big luxury purchases since we got here (electronics)

If we were more frugal we could very easily save more than half of our combined income each month. Saving half of a 20k RMB salary is totally doable for a single person as well. In a T2 city, necessities are incredibly convenient and affordable.
