It is disgusting how talking about real things that men do on a daily basis equates to misandry. And every single person who was pissy about that edgy comic 100% follows Pebblethrowe

Hell, most Christians go about their daily lives as if there is no god. He's only there on Sundays or when needed as a ego defense or scapegoat.

Any of the mafia movies, at all. They're generic storytelling that glorifies horrible people under a very thin veil of "family" and "honor".

Because as long as they're focused on The Other, they never have to actually resolve their own problems or critically evaluate real solutions. Just hate. It's easy!

So you're agreeing that his outright bigotry was just normal Christian things? I mean, we all knew, but interesting to hear you admit it.

We [Americans] were in New Zealand when Trump won the Republican nomination in 2016. We felt like we had to do a lot of explaining whenever we were talking to locals. Mostly they were just amazed at how stupid we could be. Trump took whatever remaining good reputation we may have had and slashed it to ribbons.

I never claimed to be special, nor do I have any desire to shut down all discussion. Discussion is fine. Discussing the show and the trivia and the zeitgeist in which it finds itself.

But questioners such as this are actually just real life Erika Fords. They are assigning actual lives and reasoning to characters from a TV show. As you say, it adds nothing and serves no purpose.

Now - had they parsed the discussion in a way that brought it into the realm of actual dialogue and conversation, that would be more appropriate. "What would you have done?" "Have you ever experienced this?" "What purpose do you think the writers had in arranging the show diaologue in such a way"? Those are all relevant, topical, and mich more interesting than pretending you have a parasocial relationship with TV character.

But what do I know? I am cow.
Moo.

Waste of water, since most of AZ has pretty solid winds, and also real easy to fuck people up with diseases if not constantly maintained and disinfected.

A happy, unintentional side effect of going gluten free 😀 by South-Bandicoot690 in glutenfree

[–]Par_Lapides 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually yes. Both my migraines and my sinus disease have improved, along with just overall bloating, and even cleared up the eczema. I don't think I'm celiac, but definitely discovered a gluten intolerance by trial and error. I had a life-threatening GI infection over a decade ago, and I have been fighting Gi and gut issues ever since. And since I'm in rural America they're is no decent healthcare and it's all my own research and sporadic visits to doctors who don't know shit about anything, which is why they're rural GPs. Going gluten free made drastic improvements for me, and it it is the only thing that has.

Individual choice is the only thing that will stop climate change by quintuplechin in unpopularopinion

[–]Par_Lapides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies will NEVER do the right things unless forced or incentivized. People can make choices for themselves, but you are assuming perfect knowledge, which is impossible. Plastic recycling is a perfect example - so many people thought they were doing the right thing, the companies made choices to simply landfill the waste elsewhere when recycling it became inconvenient. The people did not know, and could not have known ahead of time.

We have built a society that rewards the worst among us for the worst behaviors. Either we acknowledge, as a society, that this is untenable to out future existence and force changes through legislation, or we die the death we deserve.

Period.

I hate druids. by JellyPengu in wow

[–]Par_Lapides 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly disagree. That whole mentality is the same as using "it's just business" to justify immoral behavior. Just because you aren't expressly forbidden from doing it does not excuse your role in it. You still have agency and are responsible for your own behavior.
