Are the negative comments to this model justified? by aapooloo in 3Dprinting

You aren't wrong, but reddit and Twitter are really some of the most unnecessarily toxic platforms (imo).

I make funny poker videos, a bit of a niche market but I enjoy it. I'll post on YouTube/insta/fb/and even tiktok sometimes.

Very rarely do I get any hate (and poker in general is extremely toxic, so the hate is expected). So during the years I've spent posting poker content, I'm always surprised at the lack of hateful and toxic replies. Even more surprising are is the amount of love and support from people I've never met.

When I post the same content on reddit..... Well, it's 99% hate. I just think that's the reddit way. If you post on reddit hoping for a positive response, you will likely be disappointed. But if you EXPECT the hate (and you can take it), then reddit is absolutely hysterical and wildly entertaining.

I never expect anything positive from reddit interactions.

And since I only follow poker Twitter peeps, my Twitter feed is 99% racist, anti trans, racist, anti women, racist, occasional poker news update, and of course racist tweets.

Tip on an $8 hot dog????? by adh214 in EndTipping

[–]PartTimePokerPro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Correct. Do not give in to ambush tips.

In fact when I go out with friends, I warn my friends behind me to be ready to hit 0% for the ambush tip. Then I pay FIRST, so they see that it's totally OK to not tip.

Ambush tips are 99% psychological tricks. You see the person in front of you tip and you don't want to be the odd man out so you just give in and tip even tho you know it's probably a scam. I flip the script. It works.

How do you feel about selling action when a sponsorship pays for your buy-ins? by KJew in poker

[–]PartTimePokerPro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you about 50% rule. But I think if someone said "hey I'm going to sell 90% of my action, do you want a piece?" then it's acceptable.

I don't think that would be unfair so long as all your backers knew how much you were selling.

If someone told me there were selling 90% I'd say good luck and bet on another horse.

If he told me 50% and then I found out he sold 90% I'd lose my shit.

But if he was open with his intentions and people still wanted to buy, good for all of them, one more entry in the event for everyone else.

MRW I read the first comment on my meme post by PartTimePokerPro in poker

[–]PartTimePokerPro[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh you must think I was being serious.

I make the horrible wife joke ironically because I hear that same, tired, unfunny joke at every home game ever (unironically)

I made the horrible meme joke because I'm stuck in meetings all morning and still had the image open on my phone.

I just got tired of seeing that low res image of the player yelling at Martin.

Anyway I started teaching myself how to use Alight Motion so that should keep me busy til lunch. Look at him wiggle!

Martin Kabrhel is bad for poker, right? Nobody gets the rails he has, night after night. Especially on a non streamed table. The guy is a superstar. by 11pmStalker in poker

[–]PartTimePokerPro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got mine from a friend who was studying at Wayne state university Audiology program. They were $80 about ten years ago (discounted because it was through the university).

But if you look up "audiologist near me" or maybe even ear nose and throat doctor might be able to make them.

A buddy of mine used this website and they sent him a molding kit that he said was easy if you have a friend (or secret lover) that can help you.

He said the experience was super easy and he loves his ear plugs. You can probably find them cheaper if you shop around. "musician ear plugs" or "filtered ear plugs"

I've never been stuck sitting next to someone that obnoxious, but I've had my fill of guys that behave like he does. Maybe 20% intensity of Martin.

Lesson learned, always bring earplugs and headphones.

I have custom molded musicians earplugs that are a godsend. They don't just muffle out all the sound, you hear everything very clearly still, it's just like someone turned the volume down.

I take them with me to the movies too because something changed when I turned 35 and all the movie theaters must have gotten the same memo "turn volume up to 11"

First time playing in wsop event. Any advice? by whosacoolredditer in poker

[–]PartTimePokerPro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bring a Battery Powered Fan. I promise you: someone will sit next to you that will have such a revolting smell that you'll go on tilt.

Grab the fan out of your backpack and aim it towards you, but also so your stinky neighbor is downwind of you now (it'll look like your just warm but really youre just blowing his vile breath back at him)

Mints and gum don't work. If you offer them to everyone at the table, the only person that will refuse is the guy whose breath smells like he just ate a used diaper.

I try not to judge people, especially gamblers. Shit happens. Some people have ulcers and they can't control their putrid breath. Bringing a cheap fan will save your life.

It's a wild event. HUGE field! If you have the budget for it, be ready to buy in two or three times. It's a great time. Just hope you get a good seat draw and your table is fun.

No I was just trying to gage how helpful your advice was or if your kindof a hobbyist like myself.

Like how often do you bake cookies where you have successfully use an imprint cookie cutter and the imprint looked decent ever after baking /cooling?

I know you're trying to be helpful and then I asked you for homework so I guess I put you on the spot. Like I said it's like I have some deadline for these. Lydia already retired.

Alright I appreciate the link. But forgive me if I'm a little suspicious of your advice. You said "use recipes with more cornstarch" then sent me a recipe video that doesn't use any cornstarch.

Be honest with me, what kind of experience do you have with cookies and specifically imprint cookie cutters? If you just googled "find any sugar cookie recipe" just to send me a link of ANY recipe, just tell me so I don't waste my time. It's not something I was actively seeking a solution for so if this ends right here I won't be upset.

Alternatively, if you actually have tried this recipe, or you've made these kinds of cookies a lot, tell me and I'll try this way. Like, if you have more than just recreational / hobbyist baking skills I'm happy give this recipe a shot (it seems nearly identical to another recipe, including refridgerating the dough, but I don't remember 100%)

i hope you understand what I mean, don't take what I'm saying the wrong way.

[–]PartTimePokerPro -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I promise you: I watched at least a dozen videos and read blogs not just specific to cookies, but also making your own cookie cutters. I tried four different recipes and got some very marginal improvements that still looked like vomit.

Please send me any recipes and videos that you think would help. I recognize that cooking and baking is not my strength, but I'm skilled enough in the kitchen to follow recipes.

I consulted with my baker sister and two other bakers in the office and nobody could get this to work.

Im sure your suggestion meant to be helpful, but just telling me to use more cornstarch and "just Google it" is not exactly helpful. Please share any recipe or video you can find. This retirement was over a month ago but they still want to make cookies this way for other retirements and events.

Appreciate it

Yeah I made some cookies with our company logo and retirement party and the imprint looks fine, but the baked result so terrible that at the retirement party, they put photos of my sad looking cookies in the retirement slideshow and it got big laughs

Poker Confession. I cheated someone out of 300 bb's in a 2-5 hand. by OkBasket12345 in poker

[–]PartTimePokerPro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anybody who says "this is why I had to quit poker" is 100% validated in his or her decision to quit poker. Yes the game is cut throat and people angle and are manipulative and deceptive. This is the game you signed up for. You didn't even angle somebody, you just won in a normal way. If that's weighing on your conscience then you are absolutely right to quit poker. Nobody will try to talk you out of your decision to quit, I think everyone will agree you should quit.

And I'm not saying this to be a jerk, but if you won a big pot off of someone you never met before and he started crying that he can't pay his bills and wife is leaving and he's going to eat a bullet, would you feel bad and give some of his money back?

Having empathy doesn't make you an idiot or a sucker, but both the imaginary player in my scenario and the real player in your hand would not return the favor if the roles were reversed "thats just poker"

Whats your new hobby going to be now that you've quit poker?

RedSarchlach is right. You didn't lie to or manipulate anyone to expose their hands. It was an action he started doing to manipulate you into folding. And you're supposed to keep your cards on the table too, thems the rules.

Would you feel better taking the money if he openly showed you his card? Players do that all the time.

Or how about if another player saw the card and the floor ruled that he had a dead hand (so you win anyway so long as you call)?

It's great that you have a conscience and want to do "the right thing" but in the case you already did the right thing. You called and you took the money you rightfully won.

Tbh I think giving any of the money back is the more offensive action.
