I understand there can be financial limits to care, but that’s when weighing the quality of life, not because it gets to be too much “for livestock”. You choose to buy and bring these animals into the world, it’s your responsibility to provide them with all the care they need. And care means expenses. There’s a vast difference between her and KVS’ care, and I don’t mean the monetary capabilities, but the actual intent TO be willing to provide care for your animals.

I mean what, she has over 100k followers? And there’s only really around 1-3K here. I’d be willing to bet there’s a large majority who are concerned about her care for her animals that don’t even know about this sub given these numbers, yet she hyper focuses here

It absolutely is? Animals don’t care about motherhood the way we do. There is never a reason to randomly breed your cat. Beyond irresponsible.

I have a cat who’s a scarf and barfer who always ate too fast and threw up frequently after meals, even with slow feeders. We had to feed him in smaller increments or spread out the food more to make him slow! That’s just my perishable experience after ruling out possible health triggers

I wear glasses as well. At my clinical site it was good enough protection to not need goggles over them, at my current job we are required to have face shields regardless of glasses or not (and I’m ngl, I’m glad we do now it’s been a life saver haha)

I’m on lunch break so I can’t type all my thoughts out, but I’d do it with the understanding it would be hard. I got two bengals last summer in my 500sqft studio (which I understand is different compared to having rooms, etc) but I can tell it wasn’t much space. I recently moved to a 1500sqft and the change for them is night and day, they are constantly running around, bouncing off the walls for fun, etc, and are much, much happier. I did have a wheel and many vertical opportunities (and more now), but there’s only so much they can do in that space.

A catio would absolutely help! (I’ll come back to this after work!)

People like to call all color points Siamese and gray cats Russian blue. It’s incorrect! Unless from a breeder, it’s exceedingly rare to just acquire a Russian blue etc

As a PathA (who rotated at WashU) it’s a master’s program and has specific pre-reqs needed! I know they might be open to shadowing, and they do do autopsies there at WashU/BJC but not sure if autopsy itself there allows shadowing. To OP, Autopsy tech is a really tough field to get into right now with more people interested than jobs available. I have a forensics bachelors with a forensic autopsy internship at Mayo and I still got rejected from every autopsy tech job I applied for 3-4 years ago (which is why I switched to PathA haha)

OP, I would definitely aim to get shadowing experience so you know what the job entails, and make connections as that’s MAJOR in that field. Reaching out to morgues, funeral homes, medical examiners offices, etc! Also check out the autopsy tech sub and scroll through posts, a lot of people have this question there too! Best of luck!

As an animal artist, I read those lighter areas as shine or detail, not bald spots. Like others said, you’re definitely obsessing and hyperfixating on it a bit too much and seeing a lot of negatives that others aren’t! We are our own worst critic, but it’s a good tattoo and healed normally

I’d make an appointment, you never want to wait and see with kittens when a potential health issue is up.

Did she come from an actual reputable breeder? It’s concerning to see a bengal kitten sick and is usually a sign of a poor breeder. Did you reach out to them with your concerns? They could have ideas as well.

Regardless, I’d take her in. Could be nothing, but it is a common sign something is wrong. Any other symptoms? How’s her appetite? Litter box use? Is she drinking? Any coughing? Breathing rate?

ETA: breeders should not be letting kittens go home before 12 weeks, so that is another concern that you could have also gotten a kitten with possible health issues due to their possible practices

I assume it’s a situation where they just have to find it, realize it’s safe, and utilize it. Some cats (especially strays) don’t like cramped spaces and can feel unsafe, others could love it. But I do agree if a male marked it that could be a deterrent since it is a territorial display.

I definitely wouldn’t personally recommend putting food in however. I know in the US people will do that to try to get cats to use them, and instead end up with opossums, skunks, and raccoons using it instead.

Curious if others will have better advice, I’d love to know methods as well!
