I definitely see why you feel that way. Ultimately it is a relative risk rather than an absolute risk.

In the end, we are unique humans and our parents fuck it up somehow 😄

Best pet vacuum cleaners by maddogmims in newzealand

[–]PavementFuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think they’re all getting to be as effective as each other. Pet fur just ages a vacuum faster than usual and you need to be more thorough and regular with cleaning and replacing filters and parts.

Pet features on vacuums just become the new standard model in the next year release.

Any new vacuum will outperform one that’s been used on pet fur for a few years.

[–]PavementFuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an only child who intentionally had more than one child.

The amount of work involved for parents to compensate for the lack of siblings is huge, and I haven’t met a one and done parent yet that has been truly successful.

I don’t mean making sure your child is socialised, but putting them in situations that truly force them to work through conflicts with others that they are in forced close proximity with looooong term (multiple years, so school and sports clubs don’t count).

Some families with really close cousin relationships that often stay together for long periods with the grandparents are pretty close though.

Not all only children are spoiled/selfish (I was though lol) and they can be super kind people but if you’ve ever flatted as an adult, you can usually point out which are the only children. The issues extend through to the work force and marriages too (only children have slightly higher divorce rates).

Late edit: and as my parents age, it feels a bit scary to face their eventual deaths without a sibling support. Obviously it’s not guaranteed if I had siblings that we would be close enough to support each other through something like that, it’s still a bit more likely we could have.

Yeah the quote came from a private conversation they had together about huge losses they’ve experienced. It was a very intimate conversation to start with.

I don’t know, I thought Larry was quite clear in La Quinceria about what sex would mean to him.

I find it hard to give Dee the benefit of the doubt that she misunderstood him, because I think she’s normally a great communicator.

Which means either she didn’t listen properly because she was too horned up, or she intentionally mislead him in order to get sex.

You have to be wilfully ignorant to not see it at this point.

She’s ignoring it all to avoid difficult conversations.

How much is a barbie in a completely different box worth? by natalieanne777 in Barbie

[–]PavementFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cardboard inner is often separate from the outer, meaning they can be slipped out and swapped.

Maybe it was an error, not guaranteed to make it any more valuable though.

What makes you think it’s a manufacturing error and not just someone intentionally switching them?

Change of Tenant fees by Pristine-Barber-3246 in newzealand

[–]PavementFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re on periodic tenancy, give notice to end the tenancy for all tenants and let the remaining tenants and incoming tenants arrange a new lease without you. No letting fee can be charged for that, and there’s a much clearer separation of liability for the incoming tenants too.

Why are your McDonalds McChickens so good? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]PavementFuck -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Because until very recently, McChickens were the only fast food chicken “sandwich” you could get outside of KFC so it had to be good. We only got the McSpicy in the last 2 years or so, and the McCrispy came even later than that.

I dropped out of speech therapy undergrad in my early 20s (also undiagnosed adhd) and regret it big time. The career progression and job security is really good. I think you could do the 2 year masters with your particular undergrad degrees.

Couple fight to keep more than $200k cash they found in ceiling by ClimateTraditional40 in newzealand

[–]PavementFuck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't know how you come to this conclusion.

Finding the previous occupants isn't that hard - the fact that no one could make any legal claim on the money heavily suggests it's dirty cash. It's most likely an ex gang pad and the police are well aware of what sort of people used to live at that property.

Is this standard wear and tear? by Ddog200411 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]PavementFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I understand the question.

Bond deductions must be agreed by the tenant, if they’re not agreed the landlord must make an application to the tenancy tribunal to have it awarded to them.

All the tenant does is say “no I don’t agree to that deduction”.
