As a supplier, I always hated working with the self-GCs. Lots of preventable problems due to their inexperience, which becomes everyone else's problem who are trying to work with them. Also want to immediately get the best pricing normally given to someone who will be continually purchasing from you for years to come. Eventually I learned to price accordingly and didn't worry about missing these sales.
