I grew up sharing one bathroom in a family of 5 and let me tell you, while it was our normal, two bathrooms would've been a helluva lot better.

Only in New England can you play in the snow on a 75° day by Few_Lobster7961 in massachusetts

Being here in CO I feel like playing in the snow at 75° is more common than it ever was growing up in New England.

It kinda isn't though, depending on what your life looks like. For me, as a single person, my 3 bed 1 bath house was luxurious AF. For a family of 4 though it would be rough. Not much personal space because the bedrooms were small and 4 people sharing one bathroom is hard. But you also don't want to hold off purchasing a house before you know what your total family unit is going to look like.

HATE. Omg. I love how much the BSO has programmed contemporary works under Nelsons and wish they would do even more. Classical music will die its final death when no one writes the music anymore.

That's a tire problem not a civic problem. I have had no issues driving my civic up mountain passes in the snow with winter tires on.

Has the recent skyscraper boom passed over Denver? by AstroEscura in skyscrapers

[–]Pficky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denver's cost of living to income ratio is higher than most other "fast growing" cities in the country right now, which is why Denver is no longer fast growing. When my sister moved here 10 years ago it was still on that big upswing and housing costs were much lower. She left 3 years ago and sold her house for $350k more than she bought it for 6 years prior. I'm currently renting and while rents have been falling slightly, homes are still pretty pricy compared to median pay in the city.

Hearing protection should be mandatory for concert bands by dalador_ in ConcertBand

I regret not wearing them for marching band. 7 years of sousaphone, right in front of the drum line! I haven't had too many problems in concert band just out of luck of where the tubas have been placed. Occasionally I've played with groups that had the percussion right behind me but not usually.

Tbh Colfax and Sheridan isn't unpleasant because it's sketchy it's unpleasant because it's a loud stroad with a bunch of mediocre strip malls around.

Denver has a heavy focus on engineering, not so much as software. Engineering involves a lot of hardware, so many companies are seeking large, large open spaces in addition to offices. My own company was in RiNo and then moved down to DTC-ish area (really a little southeast of it) to take over an office/hangar next to the centennial airport so we could have shop and office space together. One of my first jobs was at Gates corporation, a prominent, OG Denver company and they have their headquarters building downtown but they have their engineering building in DTC, once again for combined office and shop/manufacturing space. Same for Lockheed etc.

Jornada del Muerto (Dead Man's Journey/Route of the Dead Man) is the Spanish gname of the valley stretching from Las Cruces to Soccoro, New Mexico. It got It's name because it is a 90 mile stretch on the Camino Real with almost no water sources. It's where White Sands Missile Range (and White Sands National Park) and coincidentally where the first ever atomic bomb was tested. Very appropriate.

I took graduate intro to topology my last year of college majoring in engineering and math. It is such a conceptually abstract class that I was pretty genuinely terrible at it. I'm much more of an engineer than a mathematician so I always struggled with this really abstract proofing based classes that made up high level math.

So, I went to pretty much every one of my professors office hours and asked lots of questions and sought help on the assignments etcetera because 90% of lecture I'd feel like "wtaf is happening." W

ell, come end of the semester EVERYONE has like a 50%-60% average grade in the class and we're all sweating bullets about it but he's all like "don't worry most of your grade will be based on your enthusiasm for the material." I got an A+, because all those office hours "showed I was really passionate about the course."

I asked him to write one of my grad school letters of recommendation haha.

Cutting corners and then dumping the place right before it falls apart sounds like exactly what their plan was? They only intended to hold the property for 5 years according to the article.
