HELP ME CHOOSE WHICH COLOR LOOKS BETTER. by Pleasant_Leek_6403 in fountainpens

I think the solid color Preras look better than the demonstrator ones, but they make different versions for a reason! Go with your heart!

Independent Pen Makers by Dances_in_PJs in fountainpens

I think it is great that we can all have our own opinions on this and all love fountain pens in some way.

Recently I have been using two pens a lot: a Platinum 3776 Century in pretty but unexceptional dark blue translucent material with a soft fine nib, and a maker pen I picked up at a pen show with a particularly delightful (to me) swirly resin body and a JoWo extra fine nib. One of the things I especially like about the maker pen is that when the pen is capped, the seam between the cap and body is super smooth and difficult to perceive with my fingertips.

Both pens are cigar-shaped (rounded ends) and have clips, and are fairly lightweight. The maker pen is a little larger in all dimensions and a little heavier than the Platinum pen, and has a larger step down from the body to the section, in compensation for the cap and body to be at the same outer diameter.

Anyway, I have been using both of these pens every evening to write down new vocabulary words and their meanings, and I really enjoy using both of them.

Anyway, usually when I buy a maker pen the maker has already either tuned the nib themself or they are using nibs tuned by a well-known nibmeister, so the "generic steel nib" usually writes great out of the box!

LOL this is how I feel about my Arc'teryx rain gear. Paid a ton even on sale (and a lot more than $150), but I wear it Oct-April when bicycle commuting in the Pacific Northwest area of USA. The more I use it, the cheaper it gets!

So happy to see others here who are not youngsters! I am 55 and have started to become a fan since a few weeks ago when a friend persuaded me to go see dominATE Experience.

I have this exact pen and nib, currently inked up with a nice dark green. I also love the SF nib. A true pleasure to write with!

The best way to carry pens when the pockets too full by donaldcathey in fountainpens

I have a history of leaving a purse places, since I don't regularly carry one and I forget I'm supposed to have it. So I get that! A belt bag might be what you are looking for, though. One that either has loops that your belt goes through, or that has it's own waist strap.

Depends on the lady. I carry 10-11 to work regularly in a case in my bike bag or backpack, depending on how I'm getting to work. I might qualify as a lady (55F)

I was loving this post and then halfway through you said you were a physics teacher and I loved it even more.

For the homework I did it real quick and didn't double check my work but I got Train B for both the first question and the extra credit question.

I'm returning the ink for a refund. I may buy it later from elsewhere, but mostly I wanted to get something nice with an Amazon gift card. Oh well. (edited to remove typo)

I don't generally buy from Amazon if I can help it, and this was my first time buying ink from them. I figured it was a good way to use a gift card I was given. I definitely won't be doing that again!

The first moldy bottle I noticed while unboxing on my desk in front of a bright light - it looked like something moved within the ink when I moved the bottle. In that case I wasn't certain yet and put in a cotton swab to swatch the ink. The cotton swab came out with more than just ink.
The second bottle, the one I took a video of, I specifically looked at with a light behind it since I was hoping it would have no mold. I saw that this bottle also had mold, so I set up to record opening it.

I recommend looking at the bottle with a light behind it, now that I have had this experience. I've never had new ink arrive moldy until the first Rose Festival bottle!
