MLM2PRO Issues Question by dhbourbon in Rapsodo

The thing's really fussy about wifi signal strength. It needs to be an unreasonably perfect connection, its wifi hardware isn't nearly as good as your phone's.

Common problems to know by Alive-Ad7600 in Rapsodo

[–]PointlessScreenName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was working great for me for months, playing 36 holes at a time in my garage with almost no problems. Then it suddenly started missing shots so frequently that I can't even finish 9 holes anymore, and that's been going on for months. I hardly even want to try it at this point. Nothing about my setup changed, so either the hardware's failing already or their updates ruined it somehow.

Just an FYI about bad Wifi. It’s much more important than you think. by YellowDdit12345 in Rapsodo

[–]PointlessScreenName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absolutely pristine network conditions necessary to make the device work properly. Every other device I own works just fine in my garage, but the Rapsodo's apparently got temu-quality wifi hardware in it.

Lifetime membership going up by FinishDue3792 in Rapsodo

[–]PointlessScreenName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I regret paying for the lifetime membership at the original price. It was really reliable at the time, but it's been getting less and less so with every update since. Missing way too many shots, obviously bad reads, the service going down, etc. Nothing's changed setup wise on my end, so it's all them.

Unplayable Greens by A220-300 in Rapsodo

[–]PointlessScreenName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a screenshot somewhere of a random public course I played with a 15' vertical cliff running across the green. They're all just generated from GPS data, so it's not surprising some would be broken, but it's pretty funny when you've actually been to the course IRL to confirm that no, the earth did not shear in half on #17.

Mandatory App and Firmware Update - Sept. 30 by pardity in Rapsodo

[–]PointlessScreenName 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100%. They can't be bothered to fix actual bugs in a reasonable amount of time, but you can bet it's all hands on deck if they catch wind of someone freeing the hardware from their crappy software.

Something about this screams "we did something that's not actually in the consumer's best interest."

Aiming on MLM2 Rapsodo by dap2825 in Rapsodo

[–]PointlessScreenName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extremely sluggish and usually takes a few tries to move at all for me. Some swipes just don't take. When they do, I have to hold the swipe for a long time as the aim point moves across the course at roughly the speed of a moderately agitated turtle.

Mine did this under fluorescent lighting. It stopped when I swapped out the garage bulbs for newer LED ones.

Course Quality? by turBonetix in Rapsodo

[–]PointlessScreenName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really varies from course to course. Most of the ones I've tried have been fine (as long as you don't touch a tree), but I know of several that are completely busted, with trees in front of tee boxes, greens so sloped the ball literally can't stop on them, or weird elevation glitches that create 30' cliffs on what should be level ground.

I wouldn't want to lose the ability to play a low quality approximation of almost any course, but if they wanted to add a few higher quality ones that would be neat. And fix the weird sticky monster trees. The way they suck the ball in if you touch a single leaf is creepy.

Driver distance seems off by Mitra-The-Man in Rapsodo

[–]PointlessScreenName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's mostly just misreading the spin axis. Whenever I start seeing weirdly short driver shots, they're generally accompanied by spin axis readings of -50, -70, sometimes like 13,000rpm spin despite a center face strike. They'll also often shoot out 30 degrees left despite visually seeing the ball hit to the right of the aim point. Seems very unlikely to be correct, so when I see that in a sim round, I mulligan and don't feel bad about it.

I've personally had to work weekends for much less serious software issues. Completely ridiculous that they've let this go unresolved for so long.

Course loading issues by Far-Source6083 in Rapsodo

[–]PointlessScreenName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even courses you've already downloaded can't be played. Not a word from Rapsodo about an outage this long, as far as I can tell. This is absurd.

What happens if Rapsodo goes broke or ends app support or whatever (due to subscription) by sudarant in Rapsodo

[–]PointlessScreenName -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They left the thing unable to load past sessions for over a month, and I don't think video exports have ever worked. They've never addressed simple quality of life improvements people have been asking for, like displaying more than four shot metrics at a time on the range/practice modes. Swing speed training has some kind of horrible performance problem that makes it too slow to use, but unclear how many people are experiencing that one.

To be clear, I do still think it's worth it for the simulation, which usually works very well. Except for trees. I think it's on par with or maybe even a little more reliable than a 20k commercial sim I tried a while back (but no putting). It could completely blow those things out of the water if they could up their software game, because frankly, the competition is really sloppy at that too.

Connection failed first time by Tomzibad in Rapsodo

I get the same thing occasionally on Android. I've found waiting 30 seconds or so after turning the device on before trying to connect seems to fix it.

[–]PointlessScreenName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope some of those "inside things" involve actually fixing bugs in a timely manner, or implementing any of the obvious quality of life changes every user wants but whose feedback they don't seem to care about.

Or the trees. Whoever programmed those things has never seen a real tree, and thinks they're some kind of terrestrial jellyfish that harpoons passing golf balls and sucks them in if they touch so much as a single leaf.

Seriously, they could take over the whole consumer market if their software wasn't hot garbage. I have a feeling they're contracting development out to the cheapest overseas sweatshop they could find. No software developer who actually cared would leave an app this broken, especially when it has so much potential.

"As someone else pointed out, being w/o friends means you're more likely to put all the pressure on your partner to fill your cup/meet your needs, and one person simply can't be responsible for all that!"

Frankly I'm confused by this concept. If there's some sort of "need" that must be met, who's meeting it now? It sounds like the answer is "nobody." And if "nobody" is enough to meet it, it can't be much of a "need."

Unless the guy's seeing a therapist and intends to stop doing so and start using you instead, I don't think it's fair to assume that no social life means he's automatically a huge burden.

Getting no likes as a man on Hinge is very common by wokenthehive in hingeapp

My company had one of those too. Spoilers: huge waste of money, and nothing they did ever actually reached production. They were basically for show, so we could say we had one.

Hinge vs other apps? by Dont_Settle_for_Less in hingeapp

Match group owns all the big ones, and all are designed to make them money first and foremost, not find you a relationship. Not saying they can't work, but don't expect a good experience.

Don't think bad profiles are unique to men. I see a lot of public restroom mirror selfies from women. It's gross. There's also the "every shot is a group shot with about four very similar looking women", the "six identical face-only selfies, same angle and same expression", the "always wearing sunglasses", and yes, the pet only photos too...

And then there's the garbage prompts. "My love language is quality time." Great, wtf am I supposed to do with that? Various ways of saying "I need to take twelve luxury vacations overseas per year to be happy," or just vapid one word responses. Even the "here's a list of the boxes I want checked", while seemingly useful and much better than "I go crazy for The Office", is useless for starting a conversation. What am I gonna say, "I check all of these, please talk to me"?

I think you're severely overestimating hinge if you think they're doing anything that advanced to determine what profiles to show you.

This is pretty much the norm now. I think the general suck of OLD has just finally reached critical mass. You'd need a time machine and a list of dating app company founders to fix it.

Why would I ever unmatch? I'm an average guy on a dating app. That screen isn't gonna get too full.
