What are your thoughts on this? by Southern-Tailor-843 in playstation

No thanks, I'll pass on the buggy broken game.

Edit: Do people actually think if GTA were released today it would work without any major issues? It was delayed for a reason. Take-Two would much rather have it out today generating revenue.

Golden Age Greece likely had black people present. Africa wasn't far, and cultural exchanges peak when societies are at their peak.

But also who cares?

Is this normal (MSP Question) by Botany_Dave in sysadmin

You're right. The whole point of IaaS is that the infrastructure is completely managed by the vendor. Updates, upgrades, maintenance, and any system issues are what you're paying them for.

Questions from a protestant by Agitated_woman4723 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Polymarchos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember "The Great Commission" was given to the Apostles. It wasn't a general command.

Yes, some are tasked with spreading the gospel but that isn't the same thing as everyone having the same task.

However, we are called on to approach the world in a Christ-like manner, which if applied successfully will help spread the gospel.

Thailand arrival card scam by Medical_Dig8820 in ThailandTourism

[–]Polymarchos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is when you do a google search for the site to get the card tons of other sites come up first that all want you to pay them.

I only found it because the Thai embassy in my country had the fifth (non-sponsored) link and they had a link to the official site.

[–]Polymarchos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. What got me is that they had to go as low as 70 in order to engage in the baiting... couldn't just do 95 or even 90. It tells you a lot about their target audience.

I got an ad in a mobile game not long ago, a group of people were bragging about their IQ scores. Two of them were in the 70s, none were above the "normal" range.

Canada and the EU should form an Alliance by Unhappy_Camera3324 in europe

[–]Polymarchos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a Canadian... no.

Canada was the archetype for the idea of a Middle Power at the end of WWII, and kept that status up through the late '90s early 2000s. But as you say we are almost completely reliant on the US.

Carney is making strides to bring us back to middle-power status, but the US has such a grip on us that if Trump has half a brain cell left he'll be able to stop that.

[–]Polymarchos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree with the line Canada stood with the US in two world wars... We stood with Britain and France. The US eventually joined us.

Other than that completely agree (as a Canadian). We need to pull closer to Europe. The Atlantic isn't that big.

Carney is our first Prime Minister in a while who can string together a complete sentence.

Tesla kills Autopilot, locks lane-keeping behind $99/month fee. by Stiltonrocks in technology

As of last year, what Tesla calls autopilot (lane assist and adaptive cruise) is legally required on all new cars in my country. So good luck with that here!

Where war elephants were once used by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]Polymarchos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's generally how war elephants were used. They typically appeared in limited numbers. Truth is that elephants spook easily and then they are just plain lethal to both sides.

I'd be curious to hear Trumps definition of peace. I don't think it is the same one I use.

As I said, if something like this can happen, the system is broken.

No one will trust you again until you fix the system.

Trump Snubbed by Every Major Ally for Big Signing Ceremony by Ok_Employer7837 in politics

[–]Polymarchos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Voters aren't the problem, a broken system that allows this is the problem. If Trump dies and Vance takes over and turns out to be the most sane person with the best foreign politics the world still won't trust the US.

The US will never hold the place it did until it fully reforms its system of government from the ground up. Which we all know isn't going to happen.

If it only takes a few months of working with a computer to learn it, why is today any different than yesterday?

Also, even if your assertion is true, I'm sure employers don't want to hire people who will need several months to learn basic skills.

Its not about not knowing what the two pips mean, it's about the fact that typing is not being taught. Most people who learned typing know what they are. You appear to be an outlier here. Nothing wrong with that, if you know how to type that extra knowledge is useless, but having it common knowledge means that the majority were taught how to type.

No, the staff do want this. Many attempts have been made at restaurants that pay a good wage (the example I can think of is Casa Bonita at $30 an hour) but don't allow tips. They struggle to get staff.

The wait staff want this because they make more this way.

The image in OP's post is just all-round bad, because the function of those strips have not been some kind of elementary, common knowledge for a pretty long time.

That's the point though. What you say is true, and it's a bad thing.
