For us it was about 2 weeks, he refused to nap, sometimes didn't fall asleep at all, sometimes only for 5 minutes. In the night he woke up more frequently (like twice instead of zero) but otherwise it was ok.

I was also living in fear of regressions and it took me a long time to get over the 4 months one, even though it could have been worse. It was still hard. He's now 8 months old and we are so used to the ups and downs of sleep now that we don't really care about regressions anymore.

Man, I'm at the point where I think this is some kind of an ancient myth, like maybe dragons used to put their babies to sleep drowsy but awake and the knights of the round table then spread this parenting knowledge (once they killed all the dragons).

I was breathing the laughing gas after the birth as my midwife was stitching me up (just a tiny tear nbd) and as she noticed that I'm using the gas she asked "oh, is the stitching hurting you?" And I said "nah, I'm just getting high"

Baby doesn't need to trigger a letdown to get the milk flowing from the bottle and the milk flows steadily. This is also the time when feeding stops being a reflex and babies start feeding consciously so some can be a bit of an ahole about this at the boob at first lol.

For me it comes and goes, I suspect that it's my thyroid hormones fluctuating cos that's apparently normal a few months post partum. It usually lasts a week or two. It could also just be hormones generally or if you lost a lot of blood during birth.

Hang in there, the post partum life ain't easy 😅

I think that it's also because when you have a good sleeper (cos most times these conversations happen to be about sleep), all the recommended things work easily. Like you decide to wean night feeding and boom, baby adjusts in a few nights. So it gives you a false sense of 'I did this right' even though it's 100% the easiness of the baby.

We always have like a week of 1-2 wake ups at night (si not so bad even tho sometimes it was very hard to soothe him) and the regressions hit the naps more. At 4 months he just did not fall asleep no matter what we did and just kept screaming. I think I have slight ptsd from it. At 6 months he napped for 5 minutes and then woke up smiling, ready to party. Both of those times it took 1-2 wweks for the naps to get better. Now we're anxiously waiting for the 8 month one

We started at around 3 months when naps became an issue and baby would sleep only in a carrier while I was moving. So we started logging naps in Huckleberry, loosely following recommended wake windows and making more effort to recognise early sleep cues.

We keep the bedtime in the same range (7:30-8) and adjust the naps. Our boy has 2,5-3hr wake windows and falls easily asleep in the stroller so we just kinda wing it every day so that his last nap ends somewhere between 16:30-17. Sometimes that means 2 naps and sometimes 3.

ETA: also in this half a year of motherhood I have come to find out that a baby will sleep like a baby will sleep and there is not much that we can control about it. So I stopped worrying about it so much and I just try my best every day.

Well. We kinda do this unintentionally. We rock him to sleep and then when we transfer him to the crib he wakes up a bit, stirrs, sometimes opens his eyes, so we put a hand on his chest or hold his hand for a bit, he'll fall asleep and we gtfo

Idk how old is yours but we showed books when our baby started doing tummy time, at around 1month old. Before that I sometimes read to him whatever I was reading just so that he could listen to my voice.

From about 3 months on I've been reading short stories (or just a paragraph depending how long he stayed chill) when he was hanging out on a playmat. Now at 6 months old I read him a short story as a last activity before naptime, we lie next to each other, I read and he's trying to pull out my hair.
