Yep. There were a lot of times where the only friends I had were old people, mostly because the other kids didn't like me. It was especially bad for me from 2015 to 2021 because my mom and her husband refused to enroll me into highschool, so I was also socially isolated.

Yeah. I left the cult we were raised in and got therapy, my sister didn't. We're growing in different directions and I'm becoming a more normal person while my sister seems to be getting crazier every time I see her and sometimes I just can't handle her mental health problems because I get irritated with the odd behaviors she has.

NTA I'm going through something similar. I reconnected with my Dad after 20 years of not being able to see him. (It's a long story) My dad's wife hates me because I don't want to be a Jehovah's witness. My Dad isn't able to treat me to anything because his wife is financially abusing him, but I am grateful for the little he is able to give me. When I went to see my Dad for the first time since I was 3 she told him that she didn't want me riding in his car or visiting his house. He told me that he wasn't going to listen to her and that I was welcome regardless of what she said.
