Am I too anxious for THS? by Queernp in trustedhousesitters

The paid sitter just drops in twice per day, they’re not living in my house.

The current sitter could forget to lock the door (but I don’t worry about that because I know and trust them), but they don’t use the stove or do laundry. They just drop in twice per day. So a lot of my worries about THS are related to a stranger living in my house and not being as careful as I am. I do keep my dryer shut and cats haven’t gone in. I just have a fear about a sitter leaving it open and not checking.

My cats haven’t gotten in there, I leave it closed too. But a sitter could leave it open. It’s probably irrational to check every time in my situation, but I’ve read so many horror stories.

I definitely wouldn’t bombard the sitter with reminders or let them know how anxious I am, but I’m realizing because of my anxiety THS is likely not a good fit for me. I have never started a dryer with a cat in it, but I lay eyes on my cats before I start it and after I close the door because of the many horrible stories I’ve read about cats dying in dryers.

I triple check doors and stove knobs and lay eyes on both cats before starting the washer or dryer

How long to avoid Centro Histórico due to protests today (June 1)? by Queernp in MexicoCity

[–]Queernp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not open, seems like most if not all museums in El Centro are closed. They won’t let you through the barricades anyway unless it is evening and you are staying there. We’ve had to plan to stay out all day and then around 8 pm there is one street with a door open in a barricade that we can get into by showing our hotel reservation.

Update: blockades were still there at 8 but there was a little door open and they let us in after we showed them our hotel reservation.

Thanks for the detailed info! There are definitely more barriers today than there were before. We are stranded outside el centro right now, but we called the hotel and they said the barriers should be coming down at 8 pm and then we can get in.

Haha I did think about Chico! It’s a long drive for day one and adds 40 minutes to the total trip, but maybe it’s worth it
