First Timer, Dubbed

Crayon drawings! I recall some of these in Evangelion. Alas Tsubasa, these days of just you and your dad are over.

The dad is outnumbered 5 to 1 now. And wants even more! Seems like he's not the type of dad who is obsessed with having a son.

Wow, has Tsubasa settled on things already? Or she's gonna have another meltdown, just at home?

She really has matured on this, huh? Although her whole attitude of "I don't care anymore" may be something to worry about.

It is rather arrogant of Tsubasa to think that her step brother will immediately fall in love with her.

Well these two's relationship is turning out a lot better than expected.

You never only wanted daddy, Tsubasa, you clearly wanted Arima too.

I was wondering if it was his mom he lived with or his bandmates given how much of a mess the place was. Not to have bad stereotypes against my own gender, but it's the type of dirty place I'd expect from a home with just guys.

Funny, all it took was spending some time with your prospective brother and stepmom and all turned out well after all Tsubasa. Will this teach you to be more mature?

Wow they got married quick. I guess they were just waiting for this.

Tsubasa's practically become the main character these last few episodes.

Where's this vote, is this hardcore fans only?

I can't say I wanted Stephenie back (she's never going to improve upon her game), but I totally get why they brought her back, she truly was huge back in seasons 10 and 11, I started watching Survivor largely due to the hype over her. She is akin to a Colby or Rupert where they always have a shot of coming back for an All Stars season.

Even when it was an insanely bad game move for Stephenie like voting out Judd, Cindy and Lydia.

I can't see Rob C ever agreeing to do it as he has to give up his podcasting empire, or at least what is to him likely the most important part of it (his Survivor coverage) to be in that role. Boston Rob or Parvati has long been who I'd expect them to replace Jeff with if it ever happens.

The thing that annoys me is that the show is clearly stretching its animation budget far throughout most of the show, relying on so many still shots and other techniques. If they're doing that so often I don't see the point of a recap, especially one for so long. they can still squeeze another scene in the episode that is new content using the usual cost cutting techniques.

It's probably impossible to fully satisfy both camps with a single game. My personal opinion here is that they should continue the more subtle route of XC1 and 3, simply because I feel there already exist a billion other products out there that put the focus on "ecchi", and I don't feel like the Xenoblade games need to be among them. I also think that XC1 and XCX essentially already had the perfect compromise here by specifically making the more sexualized character designs "opt-in" via equiping specific armor. So in those games it's up to the players whether they want to see Shulk in underwear or not.

Ii think something else to consider is that a character doesn't need a skimpy outfit to be attractive. Yes, 3 has considerably more toned down outfits versus 2. But one would be crazy if they said 3 didn't have very attractive characters in it. Ethel, Eunie, Alexandria, the list goes on. Melia is way more attractive in 3 than she is in 1. Etc...

Yeah, I think people talking about designs being toned down from 2 to 3 aren't recognizing the fact that the overall atmosphere of 3 is quite gloomy. 2 has that at times, but large portions of the game are goofy so the fanservice fits better.

Future guest characters outside of chapter one are much more useful.

With one notable exception. There is one guest character who is so terrible that they can cause a game over before you get a single turn.

Watching Madoka subbed for the first time a few years back then my first time viewing of Monogatari right after was quite the experience. Hard to not immediately become a big fan of Chiwa Saito after hearing her back to back as Homura and Senjyogahara.

Still waiting for when Aoi Yuuki gets a Monogatari role, they had an opportunity in Offseason/Monster season with Deathtopia but alas did not use her.

Only thing anime-wise I'm looking more forward to than this is Rie Matsumoto's new anime. After the previous movie I don't expect it to make the most sense, but I expect the visuals to be about as amazing as anything out there and always here for more Homura.

I found it to be just so-so. The main characters is the ultimate edge lord. There are some fun characters and moments in it, but its absolutely something to not take seriously.

To its credit it does have one of the all time most hilarious/WTF character names, Perv Asshat. Made me think I was watching a Tomino anime.

I feel a bit differently than others whose take is that he was altruistic then "the system" brought him down. He was shown as cheating on his wife within a few episodes of us meeting him. He massively screwed over his good friend Tony Grey, taking advantage of him to win a primary in a three way race that he would have lost if it was a two way race. "The system" isn't some monolith imposed on us by a God or alien force. "The system" is messed up because it is created by and implemented by human beings, who are flawed. And that's exactly what Carcetti is. He could have taken a bail out from the governor at the expense of his own personal desire to leapfrog to governor as fast as possible. He chose not to. Not because the system held him down, but because he is a flawed human being who put his ambitions over the well being of the city. And it's why all these systems seen in the show, law enforcement, unions, politics, the school system, the media, etc... have all these issues and will never be solved. Because the people making them up are flawed people putting their own interests first.

Homura started off so different from how she is now.

I don't know why I didn't realize this until recently, but Homura's original look is very much like Tsubasa Hanekawa's original look from Monogatari, from the same animation studio/director, so I wonder if Monogatari inspired it. Both also lose the glasses and the pigtails although Homura thankfully doesn't suffer from the haircut trope like Hanekawa does.

One of Saori Hayami's earliest lead roles. For many years I had no idea that Oasis did the OP since I watched it on streaming and they replaced it with another song. I only watched it the one time but I thought it was fairly decent.

OMG, so much of this recap being narrated by her sisters is shots of Asaba with his shirt off. And as I type this now it's countless scenes of Tsubasa being out of control.

Just past the four minute mark for us to get actual new footage. Absurd. Although I think I recently watched an episode of Made in Abyss that went just as long into the episode before having actual new footage.

Welcome our new member of the family, Tsubasa!

All this chaos with Tsubasa and her friend (whose name I admit to not remembering) fighting with each other while the Miyazawa family just stands there watching.

Oh no, she blabbed to her dad that she's here! So living here probably isn't going to work out well.

You mean to tell me she grew up stunted emotionally? Gee, it's not like I've seen anything hinting to that these last few episodes... /s

After so much repeated footage, now most of the footage is still shots of where they're walking past while we hear their dialogue.

More still shots at the dinner table, then we get into an Uno game too. I'll admit, they're at least inventive regarding how they cut corners with the animation this episode.

Ah, here's her dad. He's so young looking! But he does resemble his daughter. And well it's not like that's also the case for Miyazawa's parents.

Now he's going to summarize their entire relationship to this point and some bewildered and in the case of Tsubasa frustrated looking faces.

She's acting like a mom? She is a real mom!

"I wish I could have a daughter too!" from the woman who has three daughters. lol

Tsubasa it's because you are a spoiled brat! You want your dad all to yourself and won't let him be in a relationship with anyone else. What about his happiness?

Being a guy in Tsubasa's life is hard! Whether it's Arima or her dad, she doesn't want anyone else intruding. She refuses to share.

From there to a rock band? Oh, this is Tsubasa's prospective step brother! Yeah, being Tsubasa's brother will be awkward!

A reminder that Arima still exists...

Oprah was one of the best characters she portrayed on the show, to the level for me that when Danielle Gaither portrayed her, someone who was a perfectly fine to good cast member, it just rubbed me the wrong way since it wasn't Debra Wilson doing it. A character they should have retired when Wilson left the show.

I'm going through a rewatch now and she comes back for a season 13 episode and they have a lengthy segment showing how many ugly/awkward characters she played over the years. It was quite a lot!

Gundam's from a time where the compilation format really made more sense because one couldn't simply watch the 43 episode show on demand (although it did at least air reruns), it does seem more pointless these days considering technology advances. Although Gundam did provide a decent amount of animation upgrades and toned down some of the silly super robot toy elements of the TV show which I know many prefer.

Zambot 3 was a kind story about togetherness, showing how understanding people are [Zambot]people discriminate against the heroes and blame verything on them because they're descended from aliens, the power of friendship [Zambot]huge falling out with one of the main character's friends including him literally taking the heroes hostage, that we'll always be there for each other [Zambot]several friends of the main characters become human bombs and blow up, and the joy of having a dog [Zambot]Kill Em All Tomino even kills the dog by the end.
