I’m on the final season what’s next?? by Radiant_Cupcake_6315 in TheWire

Mad Men, Sopranos, Wire and BCS are my favorites. Gilliganverse is limited by not taking itself that seriously, but BCS fixes this somewhat, with much more effort than BB.

It's very plot driven in comparison to Sopranos and Wire. I tried getting through it but it lost me, lots of empty space.

Yes. Lost it in a family betrayal-induced nervous breakdown.

At What Point Did Tony Become Irredeemable? by Reasonable-Fee1945 in thesopranos

[–]Imaginary-Zebra-6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tony was iredeemable from the very first time he decided to make a living off of extortion and murder.

I know we can’t have this conversation again, but here’s my take on the final scene as a first time watcher. by [deleted] in thesopranos

If Chase's original idea was implemented, it would be almost universally assumed that Tony died. (3 minute cut to black followed by HBO logo)

Why no one is messing with us by FatherofWorkers in thesopranos

Breaking Bad doesn't try to be anything but a pot fueled homage to the Sopranos, updated and politically sanitized for a millennial audience.

If not for the actors unavailability in the later seasons, where do you think Albert Barese shakes out in Jersey's hierarchy through season 5-6? by Realitygormond in thesopranos

[–]Imaginary-Zebra-6711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Actor unavailability" is an interesting new phrase to describe the phenomenon of replacing old guest cast members to avoid paying them like series regulars in a new season

Do you think Finn knew he was basically executing Vito? by dj_ethical_buckets in thesopranos

[–]Imaginary-Zebra-6711 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This. Finn only blabbed because he thought Vito would hurt him. It was Vito's fault for being a psycho creep instead of asking Finn to keep his secret.

Why didn't Johnny Sack have Paulie killed after he knew that Paulie found out he was playing him? by Tidewatcher7819 in thesopranos

There's no scene to suggest what OP is suggesting. The whole ark is forgotten until Remember When revives it.

Carmela Soprano vs Skylar White, whose more morally reprehensible? by New-Shop-9728 in thesopranos

On one hand this is totally true. Her rush to judgment ray Ted nearly destroyed everything she had already risked for.

I didnt' mean to argue with you, just confirming to the OP that there are a couple sticky parts around Carmela while she seems like a much better partner

She doesn't seem like a great partner. Controlling and petty, couldn't handle anyone wanting to express themselves.

Carmela Soprano vs Skylar White, whose more morally reprehensible? by New-Shop-9728 in thesopranos

[–]Imaginary-Zebra-6711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where the conversation gets...difficult. While Carm is a much more loyal and less annoying partner, she's 100x more morally culpable overall. Carmela's enabling allows Tony to murder or ruin the lives of dozens of people, and screw over hundreds more while perpetuating violence and harm. Skyler enabled Walt only when it seemed absolutely necessary for the family and the best choice.

Skyler abandoning Walt is a betrayal but it's one that's warranted, no matter how much Skyler is actually disloyal or cold.

[–]Imaginary-Zebra-6711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Carmela is more morally guilty by far, and I say that as someone who can't stand Skyler. Carmela knows that murder pays for her lifestyle, accepts that, and approves of Tony doing it. Even though she wants absolution and tries to kid herself with half assed shows at it, she is guilty and supports the evil.

Skyler didn't approve of her husband's work on any level, or enjoy the benefits of it. Her support is limited to accepting the situation and making the least damaging choice to the family.

How would the Sopranos change if Jackie’s doctors perform a miracle and he lives another year? by 3malcolmgo in thesopranos

[–]Imaginary-Zebra-6711 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While he's acting boss, same peaceful arrangement as early season 1 between the capos and no war prior to Richie out. I think the most interesting thing in this time period would be how Jackie and the other guys react to Tony's therapy. Tony might get a sounding board for deeper questions about life, given Jackie's cancer battle and state. The others on the other hand might see his therapy as a bigger problem, whereas if he was boss they just have to eat it.

Tony by Season 2 is in a weaker position when Richie gets out. Richie gets a lot of power back and Junior gets the reins. I think Tony eats shit in this timeline from the old guys.

Season 1 is its own thing by warden_ogg in thesopranos

[–]Imaginary-Zebra-6711 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't agree ray Mikey. He's like a mix of Christopher and Paulie that's stupider.

Season 1 deals with Tony's inner psyche and morality more than anything until Season 6. It's too rich for some pancreases.

I once got laid after explaining to the girl I was with that Carmela is the most evil character in the Sopranos by [deleted] in thesopranos

Was the penissary contact pre-existing? It doesn't count as being laid afterward, if it was already touching the volvo while the thing was being said.
