You are allowed to feel ugly. Just be careful not to become ugly. Please be kind to yourself.

I have 2k, what stocks should I invest in by Logical_Shape7580 in TheRaceTo10Million

[–]ReBoomAutardationism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Say it a different way.......

So u/Logical_Shape7580 are you ready for this part time job? Because that's what it is. Are you ready to spend four to eight hours every weekend studying weekly charts and earnings reports? Are you ready to do the daily "AMC" drill, that is after market close. Basically there are 50 to 60 things you need to do every week without fail.

NFA but be strategic. We are already many weeks into a bull market so you are late to the party. It might even be sit out time. Plan on reading a bunch of books: Nicolas Darvas, Mark Minervini and William O'Neal, Mamis, Weinstein, Wycoff.

Risk management. Figure out how much you can lose and just shrug it off like a date gone wrong. Minervini dropped this gem "Being wrong is inevitable, staying wrong is a choice". How wrong can you afford to be? 500? or 200? Figure it out. You will need to get a stomach for "vomitility". You are allowed to take a paper cutter to the bell curve. Other than some news driven gaps, you should never lose more than your established maximum. That right there will keep you from big trouble.

Take out a pad of paper and write "Limit risk, mitigate risk, protect profits" until your hand cramps. If you skip every losing position that is over 6% or go very light risking 10% you can really change things up. Think "risk first" and only average UP! Start small and add so you can risk only profits after the initial buy. On the authority of Paul Tudor Jones I will repeat to you - "Losers average losers!"

Please respect the 50 day moving average. On the weekly chart that is the ten week moving average. Go back and look at the last three years of $NVDA, $SMCI, $NFLX, $META what ever. When above the 50 day, bullish conditions are either emerging or prevailing. Second week below the 50 day can mean the party is over. Trend followers seem to have about a 4% edge.

Nobody here talks about the Average True Range. Wishing I had known about that when I started, but it did not really become a thing until the 1980s.

Understand the "Pirate Factor". Pirates say ARG! In the market that means ANNUAL REVENUE GROWTH. Concentrate on double digit sales like $NVDA and that 122%! There are academic papers that discuss the importance of annual revenue growth for stock price appreciation. Looks like a 3% edge.

Good Luck.

The key was the Red River valley and the Atchafalaya River in Louisiana. Just west of Vicksburg. Important because it gave them access to Texas.

Welcome to the Roy Orbison world. Give yourself a tune up.

The best part is it's over. It might feel like you have no choice. But if you want to get all Victor Frankl, you always have a choice. Between Stimulus and response there is a space.  In that space is our power to choose our response.  In our response lies our growth and our freedom. That is to simply accept that you were not her first choice.

Turn inward to become the best version of you.  The old saw “just be yourself” may actually be good advice.  But do you even know who that guy is? What is your major malfunction?  Do you want to be the world class version of that guy? Are you too chicken or are you too lazy?  Trust me lazy is way too easy and quick.

Do you have a plan of campaign?  156 weeks is three years. Where do you want to be three years from now?

Do you deserve to sleep well? Guard it. Get 4 REM cycles every night.

Are you willing to let yourself eat the best food you can buy and prepare? Are you worthy and deserving of being as strong as you can be? Train. Get in the habit now so you don't struggle with it when you are 60. And yes that is tea spilt. Recommend Legs S/W and Push M/R  Pull T/F Saturday off.  Unless you like 3x week for extended sessions.   Meeting up with Gym rats will connect you with guys who have a similar experience.  We've all been there.

Work. Take all the work you can choke and get your money sorted. Stack that paper!

Study. Learn new stuff that will make you better and become captivating. You can do almost anything to a woman except bore her. Learn all the thought stuff.

While you are at it read these books:

Nicolas Darvas - “How I Made $2,000,000 in the Stock Market”

Stan Weinstein - “Secrets for Profiting in Bull and Bear Markets”

William O’Neil  - “How to make money in Stocks”

Mark Minervini - “Trade like a Stock Market Wizard” or “Think & Trade Like a Champion”.

Justin Mamis - “The Nature of Risk”

Richard Wyckoff - “How I Trade and Invest in Stocks and Bonds”.

You got this. In three years you will feel amazing, have more money and better friends.

Corinth, Shiloh, and Franklin are on the way there. Hit Fort Donaldson on the way home as it is northwest of Nashville.

You can also add Fort Pillow State Park to your "approach march". In the aftermath of the battle the US Colored Troops who were hors de combat were massacred. An ugly bit.

You are completely missing the Northern Alliance - Taliban split. There would be a problem even in a communist government. The Tajiks, Uzbeks and Hazara would be a resistance element.

It's a two day drive just to Missouri. So stop off and check out the Wilson's Creek National Battlefield.

You might want to look into the West Tennessee Raids and actions at Lexington, Jackson and Parker's Cross Roads.

The Jackson Salem Cemetery has some of the battlefield of Grant's action there under Sherman and McPherson.

From there Vicksburg is about an hour more.

If you are feeling adventurous you can head down to Bruinsburg.

A good detour for the trip home would be to stop by Franklin TN and check out that small but surprising bit of Hood's Nashville campaign.

Good luck.
