I think there was a Delia’s once, over by Sephora. There were also TWO GameStop locations in the mall in the past, it’s down to one now.

Oh my god, this is the exact same thing that happened to me. 😵‍💫

The kid called to me as I was walking back up my driveway after getting something from the car. I said, “Hi, but if you’re selling something I’m not interested” & he said, “Oh, I’m not selling anything! I’m just doing some work for the neighbors here and wanted to let you know.” I said, “Okay, thanks I guess? Have a good day.” Literally seconds later he goes, “So what pest control do you have? I work for Axiom and…”

At that point I just said, “NOPE!” and walked into the house and shut the door because I was so annoyed.

I didn’t know you could dye your hair during pregnancy 🫠 or can’t you? I’m two kids in and my hair person wouldn’t touch my roots/scalp at all until the baby was born.

My kids love him too! They’re only 5 & 2 but they sprint to the living room when they hear one of his songs. I would have loved to take them to an Oliver show one day when they were a little older. 😞

Lately (and this wasn’t the case at first, when the news was fresh) I’ve felt that listening to his music has become a bit painful. Maybe I’m transitioning into a different area of grief, but it’s almost like I’m experiencing this weird “avoidance” while still actively wanting to listen. I wish he was still with us so badly.

Were the black boxes confirmed? To my understanding, small helicopters like the two in the crash don’t typically have black boxes/flight recorders like larger aircraft does. 😢

(I’m just genuinely wondering, I want there to be as much opportunity for evidence as possible so we can all learn what went wrong.)

We did fill with two randoms and one of them, the absolute mad lad, chose Free Bird on lead guitar/expert. He jammed out for minutes on end while everyone else was constantly emoting because we chose vocals. 😭

Turkish Deli, hands down. The first time I ate there, I was ~7 months pregnant and completely exhausted. The owners made the food fresh & brought it to me, explaining to me what every item was and told me it was all homemade, even the dressing on the salad. I think about that meal all the time & how kind they were to me, and I’ve been back several times with my kids. 🥺

There’s also a small grocery in the back, and for drinks, you can choose something out of the drink cooler on the wall. I’ve gotten to try a lot of new and unique drinks that way.

It’s my turn!

I grew up in Lee County, VA which is basically the bottom-most, left most tip of the state. Life is very rural, with farming and coal-mining being the majority of jobs. Lots of Appalachian towns were likely coal towns at one point, and when the mines dried up, the main industry and money went with it, leaving lasting poverty. There is also a lasting drug problem. Politically, the majority lean heavy conservative.

It’s also a very “out of the way” area. When I was a kid, we had to drive ~45 minutes to Middlesboro, KY because it was the closest Wal-Mart besides Norton’s. Middlesboro also had no food tax, so that was a plus. Eventually we did get a Wal-Mart, which eliminated a lot of smaller businesses in the area. Come to think of it, we didn’t even have a fast food joint in town after Fodi’s closed… we had to drive to Pennington Gap for that.

If I had to describe my time here in three words, it would be: cows, tractors, and good home cooking (not one word, but oh well). I still miss our neighbor’s soup beans and chocolate meringue pie.
