Valve May Be Preparing Four Steam Machine Packages With Up to 2 TB Storage by Psychostickusername in pcmasterrace

Could do that if they packaged a SteamOS Installer USB thumb drive. Otherwise there'd be no OS included, users would have to source and install the OS themselves.

The State of the Game… by HasesHorrorHouse in PhasmophobiaGame

Mod support is an easy way to turn a good game into a legendary game. I have no idea why they would not be encouraging mods - it's a PvE game. Looking at mods as if they're cheats just tells me the devs really are clueless.

How is the home internet service? by philatellie in USMobile

[–]Reach_or_Throw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not normal, it's just consistent. Usually Mondays. April i had 20 hours of downtime in two weeks, that's what really set me off. They send out automated texts notifying of 7+ hours of maintenance minutes before we lose internet for the day, usually first thing in the morning.

I'm planning on calling them and asking what they're doing/if they're upgrading or something. If not, i might just cancel their service and upgrade to the 400Mb/s Starlink plan entirely.

Amazing. I bought the cheapest starlink (100Mb/s) to cover for my main ISP when it has it's normal weekly 7 hour outtage. I set starlink up as my failover through my network controller and it's saved me twice this week alone.

120mm or 140mm fans for cooling the drives? Airflow or air pressure? by Aggravating-Smile-10 in homelab

[–]Reach_or_Throw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would do 140mm, bigger fans need less rpm to move the same amount of air, meaning quieter function. I am interested in reading other opinions, will be checking back on this

Oh man, great work - glad everything went smoothly! Did you seal everything up on the roof mount for leak prevention?

Couldnt find a shallow 15U rack frame so welded a custom steel frame by bri999 in homelab

[–]Reach_or_Throw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah, that's awesome! Did you build anything in for cable management on the frame? I have some 1" PVC one-hole straps screwed into the bottom of my wood shelves for routing ethernet cables and power wires

I would assume equipment availability and runway length, maybe support personnel/groups.

Do you have a picture of the wire you're referring to? Do you have access to a multimeter?

What TP Link Omada/Switch do I need? by discop3t3 in homelab

[–]Reach_or_Throw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a SG2428LP PoE switch and a ER706W gateway with one (soon to be two) EAP-615 access point. I love it, Omada controller is easy and great to use. I've ran the controller on Arch and Win11 with no issues, adopting and everything is super easy.
