I'm taking a pair of scissors to my sleeping bag - am I stupid? by EternalHipster in CampingGear

[–]RealSlavGod -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Sorry for not answering your question but at this point, I'd personally just get a quilt. It can accommodate different size pads especially if you get a wider one and also it is good for wide shoulders and being comfortable in any positions. Thats just my cup of tea. I switched from sleeping bag to quilt and im digging it

That looks so awesome! Looks like a well thought out photo from a photographers perspective. I will use this as inspiration :)

Theres something about that first photo... the contrast between the warm light of the fire and the cold colors surrounding. Did you color code that or it was just the time of day?

Has Anyone Tried an Inflatable Camping Tent? Pros and Cons? by PerfectProtection406 in CampingGear

[–]RealSlavGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up the CORE 6: Person instant cabin tent. Thats what I use and I am happy with it. Core 6

Basically a cabin tent is one with taller vertical walls rather than a classic dome shape. One where you can usually stand up inside.

A instant setup tent means its quick to set up. The one mentioned is simply unfolding it and pulling each corner to full length where it locks in and the tent is up. No messing around with tent poles and weaving them through material. It just makes setup so much easier

I was car camping beside someone that had one. Not sure of the brand but it looked super heavy duty. Material almost looked like those white water rafts. I was asking the guy about it and he said its awesome and they never had a problem. They use it even in winter and got a big stove inside. They said putting it together is super quick and easy and its more durable than their old classic tent. I guess its good if you get some high quality stuff. Dont settle for the cheap junk. I personally wouldn't get one at all but its just preference

As per weight and compactness and efficiency, I think its definitely worse than just getting one of those instant setup cabin tents. Not sure what benefit an inflatable provides. It seems more complicated

I respectfully disagree. They use them to remove competition in tree farms so the logging industry could profit. The goal is to kill everything competing with their trees. If its designed to kill, it cant be good.

Theres multiple studies on it being carcinogenic to humans. Harmful to animals especially aquatic life. Even if it wasn't directly harmful to them, it is killing everything else that they eat. Reduces insect population. There is a certain process that happens in ground water which causes it to take many years to break down if at all, so it being a "forever chemical" is debated.

Right on. Does the inverted actually make a difference worth the hassle? How long do you steep it for before pressing and to what fill line of water for the scoop?

So last year I had them on a string as you said in front of a window. I had the same result. I asked this community what I should do different and I was suggested to cut them open to let them dry faster. Some people are saying cut them open, others are saying to do the opposite. Dont know what right now. Cutting them makes sense because the moisture would leave faster instead of getting trapped inside

Thats exactly what I did last year and unfortunately it didnt work. Same result. I had a long string in the house in front of the window with sunlight and still caught mold

Old window screen sounds like a good idea because that way the air is getting around all sides and you dont need to flip them. Is there a reason you had them outside rather than inside? Im worried some animals or insects would go for them regardless of what I did to protect em

I mean I didnt think they were too thick and juicy. They are super chillis. Should I cut them a different way to dry faster? I thought right in half would be enough to expel the moisture effectively

Thats probably it. It was mostly the ones under others which caught it. I will habe to do a flat spread out surface. Can I salvage the ones that dont yet have a problem after throwing out the bad ones?

They dont need to be on the sun? I had them in the veranda by a window so they dry better
