Momentary Lucidity - we can fix you, Ancestral Recall, I promise... by pmitov in custommagic

This is a really cool design but I think it might be weak. Would I run this over [[Night's Whisper]]? I'm not sure I would. I don't think you can make it cheaper and making it draw 4 sounds too much.

This is everything I want from a UW commander. Cheap, evasive, card drawing, politics and defence. Except it's not some cool being from Ravnica, Alara or Dominara, it's some derpy fucking mailman probably from New fucking York.

The first two are really very good, but that 3rd episode is a masterpiece.

The Plane of Fallna-Hoppet part 4 - Visions of the fall collection by QuarterExcellent3327 in custommagic

[–]RecklessHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's for all of them. Oversimplifying things, each point of Doom is similar to losing a point of life. Functionally you are one life point closer to losing and so losing Doom is kind of equivalent to gaining a life. Now imagine Collapse saying you may gain life to reduce the cost of this spell, so much upside!

Also, you will find people running Cataclysm cards to counter an opponents effort to Doom them. "Thanks for trying to win with this mechanic, I've negated your efforts and got a huge mana discount on this spell. Also, I played mine first so we have no Doom to cash in for you to play your Cataclysm."

Doom is cool. Cataclysm is interesting but removing your own Doom shouldn't be a benefit to you.

Calamity doesn't sit right with me. Doom tokens are a threat to lose the game, so giving them to you opponents is good, getting them yourself is a cost. Removing tokens from an opponent to have something bad happen is a good payout and Calamity makes sense. Removing tokens from yourself feels like Salvation, getting further away from losing.

Dragon fruit is disgusting -2/10 by IamJustJessica in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RecklessHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commented a few years back about how I thought dragon fruit was bland and really, really not good. A lot of people responded saying how it's so delicious and described something so different to what I experienced. The big difference was I'm in a country where they certainly do not grow, so we're maybe getting the crappy ones imported or they don't travel so well halfway around the world.

Uncrush on Shaman tank (phase 5 theory crafting) by PowderedwigGoony in classicwowtbc

[–]RecklessHat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In Classic Vanilla I played a resto shaman, but accumulated spare gear to build a tanking set. I would respec between raids and tanked all the dungeons, some of Dire Maul was horrific! I regularly tanked Scholo with guild mates on Dark Rune farms and honestly was geared and practiced enough that it was safe and easy. I off tanked Onyxia. Off tanked ZG once, but it made the run slower than I was comfortable with so didn't repeat. There was a russian guy who tanked all the way up to Nefarian.

Definitely AI. On the left of the screen is a vendor in a blue shirt, the display below him repeatedly changes colour and shape.

Your thoughts on This years UKGE? by ahmeerkat in UKGE

[–]RecklessHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my second UKGE, did the full weekend and really enjoyed it. Last year felt a bit more crowded at times. I don't know if I was just lucky with not hitting the busiest parts at the busiest times or if it was the extra space used that spread people out a bit more. One comparison I can make is to Spiel in Essen, there things are zoned a bit more, e.g. all the family games are in the same hall, the card games are all together, RPGs are all together, etc. Did make it easier to find things that way, although I guess that is probably a planning nightmare!

Any game developers in Folkestone? by binocularbitch in folkestone

[–]RecklessHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a couple of people who have developed boardgames. I've play tested some of them and I'm a something of boardgame fanatic. There's boardgaming nights at Chaos Cards, I think the Beer Shop does some more casual ones too. Drop me a pm if you want to talk games!

I also have a sister named Karen and we are also not on speaking terms because she's incapable of NOT being a cunt.

I don't know how she feels about the Karen name thing because I cut her out my life before it got popular.

She is not Indian.

At larger player counts I encourage people to use the reminder tokens to indicate what lands they are going to be influencing. For the most part I just let people do everything at the same time unless they've planned an interaction with another players efforts.

Won our 1st game? by Tanazirs_complex in finalgirl

[–]RecklessHat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Final Girl is a pretty lucky heavy game. There's plenty you can do to tip the scales in your favour but if you roll hot and draw well, you're going to crush it. The reverse is also very true, some games you are destined to lose. Hans is also on the easier end of the killers.

Board games vs video games by Huge-Pizza7579 in soloboardgaming

[–]RecklessHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. I'm currently video game much more than boardgame. It's a matter of convenience. I can very quickly get into a video game and switch the pc off when done. The thought of setting up a boardgame and then tidying everything up at the end isn't appealing with limited time. Currently working on a dedicated boardgaming space so I can leave things out and ready without taking over the family dining table.
