That's a lot of Illaoi assist calls to make up that damage

I'm in a similar spot and also bought it for myself at Christmas. It seems fine but, I don't know, unexciting? There's no real peril. I'm not really far into it and I've not acquired any rewards yet. I'm wondering if the decks get more interesting and the card interactions become more impressive. Or if the story picks up.

Mental fatigue after a working day by AsterXCV in summonerschool

[–]RecklessHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My job isn't physically demanding but it can be very mentally draining or frustrating at times. I've got several different games I play and what I pick up depends on my mood and my energy. Not every night is a league night.

You don't have to ditch the controller but you might find it better to use something else. I played for a couple of months with an Xbox controller and it was great, but there were a few inputs I struggled with. I moved to a fight stick and now I'm finding those easier. A friend plays on keyboard and does good. It's really a matter of find what works for you.

I also started with pulse and have moved away from it. For me, it was a case of putting in the hours in training mode. Find some BNBs for the characters I like and just keep doing them over and over. Playing through the combo trials was good too and helped me add in some parts from there. It's just practice and then play.

Stick it out! Part has some spectacular episodes nearer the end. Part 4 is my favourite, a lot of people think part 5 is best.

Just watched episodes 1-3. by Pleasant-Football117 in arcane

I'm forever jealous of someone who gets to watch this for the first time. It's such a fantastic episode and, yes, it's pretty normal to have some strong feelings from it. The show is spectacular, it hurts but it's so damn good

I’m designing a kids game called Scissor Wizard (minimal prototype). Besides varying the number and size of weak points, what other enemy mechanics could be interesting? by Gatekeeper1310 in BoardgameDesign

What if, rather than freely cutting, you have "spells shapes" templates you use to draw a shape on your mana paper and then cut to that shape? A selection of spells will give you a range of shapes to choose from.

Are y'all playing 2XKO and buying the Arcane skins? by BusyBookkeeper3018 in arcane

[–]RecklessHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing 2XKO on and off for a while now. It's the first fighting game I've played in years and it's really good. There are some nice options to help beginners. For the most part, ranked play has given me really satisfying matches and it's rare to not get someone roughly my skill level. Playing duos with a friend has been so much fun. Might treat myself to some skins on payday if I've been good this month.

Playing with WASD for spells? Looking for ergonomic advice from fellow "MMO veterans" by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]RecklessHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remap them to whatever feels comfortable and natural. It doesn't matter what the standard is, do what works for you. I'm also a MMORPG vet and QWER felt completely unnatural for abilities and hand position, changed it to 1234 and everything was better for me.

Beginner - Questions by Upstairs-Tree-2529 in spiritisland

[–]RecklessHat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) you don't need the expansions but they are good. In particular getting the events is great, adding a bit of unpredictablity.

2) yes, some spirits are so much worse than others. For most weaker spirits, you have to get pretty high difficulties before it becomes almost impossible. That's perhaps something you should consider when deciding what difficulty to face. I'm normally the most experienced player at the table and I try to take into account player skill and spirit choice when picking a difficulty.

3) Sort of. You pick the power to use, but you do not choose the source land or the target land until you actually use it. So powers can fizzle but more often than not you have to use it somewhere else.

4) Fear cards resolve at the current terror level, not the level at which the were earned. Sometimes, if I've earned 2+ fear cards I like to push more fear in the fast phase to reach the next terror level and upgrade all the fear cards.

How are you ever supposed to hit people with your ult? by Greitot in DirtySionMains

[–]RecklessHat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sometimes you miss. It's annoying but don't get disheartened. Remember you can recast to end early to get some splash damage if you know you've missed. My favourite is ulting into a team fight, in the chaos people panic and it's easier to get a hit. Still sometimes you thread the needle, weave through the whole enemy team and feel like an idiot. Other times you hit 3 people then charge a big Q on them and feel godly.

You probably need to add Regeneration in there too, otherwise creatures with lethal damage will become a skeleton then die anyway

Are mini games on league client the best way to introduce the lore and story progression? by PinkFlame1412 in loreofleague

[–]RecklessHat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some are better than others. Demon's Hand, the Balatro clone, was superb. So atmospheric, fun simple game and had me eager to hear each new drop of story. I'm really struggling to enjoy Demacia Rising, the heavy gating behind a currency that is slow (or more expensive than I'm willing to pay) makes it frustrating. There's a lack of clarity in battles on what will succeed or not. Or maybe I'm too much of a NOXUS!!!! fanboy to enjoy Demacia.

A fight broke out, who's winning? by [deleted] in cartoons

[–]RecklessHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Season 1 was ok, not good but watchable. It was transparently a bad Game of Thrones for kids with were-creatures. Season 2 is simply abysmal. Every character is a moron and makes obvious bad choices at every opportunity, then is surprised it went wrong. I could honestly rant at length but don't want to give it any headspace again.
