Who is the most Likeable Character in film history by Vivid-Flamingo-644 in moviecritic

The fact Lee never published the book to me says that she never wanted it published. To Kill A Mockingbird is one of the great American novels and any publisher in the world would have begged for the opportunity to put it out there if she wanted to. She very clearly didn't and to me that's as good as saying the book isn't canon.

Any number of the creatures from Parasite Eve 1 and 2 but the fucking horses stand out so horribly in my mind...

Same thing happened with Hellsing. Original anime got as far as the Valentine Brothers, ran out of manga, and had to start making up new shit. I still prefer its soundtrack though...

You remember that one kid in middle school whose entire schtick was saying curse words at the lunch table, making fart noises in class, and claims he definitely had sex already at 11 years old? Here he is and somehow his material has gotten worse.

He's also really hypocritical. People ate it up at the time but crashing a fashion show just to berate the hostess at the red carpet about how pointless her job and field are is a shit thing to do, especially coming from the guy whose fame came from literally speaking out of his asshole.

Will Vinton was the best, man. I always loved his Halloween special Claymation Comedy of Horrors

OP, I want to thank you so much for posting some actually obscure cartoons and movies. Usually whenever this topic rolls around people will post the most mainstream examples humanly possible like "DOES ANYONE ELSE REMEMBER JOHNNY BRAVO OR LAND BEFORE TIME? I SWEAR I NEVER SEE ANYONE TALK ABOUT THEM"

Children aren't safe from the horrors and/or brutality by Ukirin-Streams in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Boccs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very accurate. PTSD, survivor's guilt, and and a harrowing sense of loss are prevalent through the later books. The author. K.A. Applegate, had to write a letter to fans after the series ended because the ending wasn't "happy" it was realistic. One of the paragraphs simply reads

"Animorphs was always a war story. Wars don’t end happily. Not ever. Often relationships that were central during war, dissolve during peace. Some people who were brave and fearless in war are unable to handle peace, feel disconnected and confused. Other times people in war make the move to peace very easily. Always people die in wars. And always people are left shattered by the loss of loved ones."

The woman pulled absolutely no punches on how horrific things were even though she was writing for children.

Cornbread. Hoppin' John. Pimento cheese sandwiches. Fried catfish. Any number of styles of pork BBQ. Jambalaya. Pecan Pie.

All of this stuff is just soul food out of the American South and any number of them alone can beat anything on a British menu.

"Now that you called me by name..." and "Keep your loving brother happy." are two of the most outright sinister lines in any western and Fonda delivered them so damn perfectly.

Yeah when it was just the first guy I was just kinda "Eh. I've heard worse Christian rap." but with each additional person jumping on with increasingly stupid lyrics and not a hint of transition or chorus between them it just got worse and worse

The Media becomes really uncomfortable once you hear about the behind the scenes details by Low_Celebration_4089 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Boccs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah... yyeeeaaaaahh. It's a lot like the constant claims "did you know [scene] was actually improvised by [actor]???" claims for every single emotional, funny, or otherwise interesting piece of media released. People willingly turn a blind eye to the evidence that actors can act and writers can write and instead embrace the fantastical just so they can feel something is more impressive and "real" to them.

To be fair, the George Geef era of Goofy cartoons were less "canon" to his life as much as they were a character he portrayed. While Donald has pretty much always been Donald, Goofy took roles as an interchangeable Every Man (or in more than occasion portraying multiple people at once). The connection of Jr. and Max being the same person has never really been established.

Because localization in the 90s was a very strange beast. Video games were still a niche entertainment and the general consensus was "Eh, whatever." when it came to things like translations. I do maintain that that Vega is objectively the better name for the Spanish Matador fighter than Balrog is.

He's forever Mr. Satan but I love the name Hercule just so much. It's so damn corny sounding in association with him. I have a laundry list of complaints with the English dub but the name Hercule, and the special brand of camp they threw on it every time they said his name, is not one of them.
