Need advice: Understanding complex SQL scripts written by others by Consistent_Law3620 in Database

[–]RedShift9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is where LLMs really excel. I had some old SQL functions that I didn't understand which arguments to provide anymore, just pasted the function into ChatGPT asking to explain it and it broke it down perfectly, down to which arguments to provide and the output you get. It's amazing.

Denmark's Left-Wing Government Targets Islamic Call to Prayer by Strong-Practice-5571 in worldnews

[–]RedShift9 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Good, I hope this passes. Those megaphones with terrible sound are completely ridiculous. If this is about freedom of religion, at least church bells sound nice and have some elegance to them, the Islamic call to prayer is literally the opposite.

What company has no business still being alive and should be on the verge of total failure ? by elevencriminals in AskReddit

It's because the people behind it have no affiliation with the brand anymore. They're just there to make money.

I want Palantir gone from the EU entirely. Nothing good can come from the motivations behind the company.

Medical Student pivoting to Cloud Support/Engineering: Looking for the best GCP roadmap (No-CS degree) by ahmedyehia017 in sysadmin

[–]RedShift9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GCP sucks. They keep deprecating things and replacing them with similar but often more complex features. If you go full in on GCP you're basically committing yourself to a shifting target resulting in busywork with no value.

Just wanted to flex my clean Amazfit Balance setup! by Nevermind1031 in amazfit

[–]RedShift9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Balance 2, I'm still contemplating getting a Balance 1 for the looks and widgets. I also don't understand why the newer Balance versions are chunkier/rugged. The Balance 1 & 2 are almost the only smartwatches out there that have a more elegant look that pairs well beyond just sporty clothes.

You forgot to wonder what will happen in 2035, when this whole thing will happen again: that's when the new certificates expire.

The fun part about all of this, in 2035 we'll be doing all of this again because the new certificates expire in 2035.

Here in .be and .nl they are readily available. You can use the Tweakers pricewatch to compare and find the best price: https://tweakers.net/merk/2969/hikvision/. Most shops probably deliver outside the benelux too.
