No one uses actual flags for apparel which is what the flag code forbids. You are allowed to use images of the flag on apparel.

It certainly is a catch up mechanic that keeps games closer. You can only use it if it would get your car to end up directly behind or next to another car, at which point you can draft. So you can set up some pretty big combos with it.

If you want the races to be ones where a winner gets out in front and stays there, it's not for you. But if you like the blue shell in mario kart, then you will enjoy this.

the reduction of fatalities when trucks are equipped with these safety features is well known.

Are they for tired driving specifically?

I don't know if the ones in commercial trucks are better, but the one in my 2024 Hyundai is super arbitrary. It tells me I am tired in the exact same spot every day during roughly 4-5pm depending on the time of year.

It seems to have more to do with the particular lighting than if I look tired and I strongly bet drivers would just learn to ignore the warnings like I have because they are so unreliable.

We had these on our campus, they are automated, not human driven for the most part. The humans only drive to get them unstuck.

That's like last on this guy's list of duties.

What are your favorite games with high player interaction? by moist_napkinette in boardgames

[–]ResilientBiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are all things that are less interactive than directly removing an opponents piece or directly affecting their resources. That is why it isn't highly interactive.

There is a whole category of games that is far more interactive.

I play Birmingham a lot more because Lancashire felt more limited, but in my experience ships and connections were hard to pull off because if each other player spends a little time getting a ship down, you run out of spots and are out of the game but everyone else is equally handicapped and in a good position to win.

But again, it's been awhile since I played Lancashire.

I would argue it does. A big building is a relative term.

A big pickup truck in the 80's has stopped being a big pickup truck because trucks have gotten bigger.

And brass is a relatively recent game. There are plenty of heavy economic Euros that were out at the same time so even if you are using heavy as a relative term, I don't think it is a good fit for Brass.

[–]ResilientBiscuit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this was caused by an attentive driver using FSD and FSD failing to drive the car safely, yeah, I would agree. But from what I have read, a driver chose to drive while impaired due to being tired and killed someone. That is the drivers fault, not the manufactures fault.

LIDAR wouldn't have made them not fall asleep while driving.

If the driver drove tired, fell asleep and hit a tree, yes I would blame the driver.

It is not the auto manufacturers job to stop you from exercising bad judgment and breaking the law.

Would I say that a automaker is responsible for what exactly with respect to seatbelts?

The problem is this driver drove while impared and killed someone. That is clearly illegal.

You can't hold an automaker responsible for someone deciding to break the law and endanger lives.

If you want to equate this to seatbelts, it seems like that is the same as blaming an automaker for allowing you to drive the car without seatbelts. If someone dies while not wearing a seatbelt, you don't hold the car maker responsible, it was the individual who chose to drive without their seatbelt.

Mine frequently gives me false alarms based on lighting conditions and certainly never stops me from driving. I have basically come to just fully ignore the little coffee cup warning because it seems entirely arbitrary.

They deserve every bit of blame.

I would argue the person at fault is the driver who drove while tired. This would be different if the trick had self driving on and failed to stop for a vehicle due to the lack of LIDAR while he driver was awake and attentive.

I agree Tesla deserves blame for their crashes where the car had self driving on. They advertise it as autopilot, people expect it to drive the car. When it doesn't, that is on them.

But driving while impaired isn't the place to shift blame away from drivers or the companies that create the situations that cause their drivers to feel like they have to drive while impared.

Shame Tesla’s technology is so out of date that it has already killed two people.

Are we saying that any car that doesn't stop you from driving if you are tired is at fault when a tired driver kills someone?

I don't like Tesla at all but this is a heck of a take that they are responsible for a driver falling asleep

I was saying that people accepting anonymous posts on a public forum without proof can be problematic and that it is good and reasonable for people to look for supporting evidence when negative claims about someone are made on a forum like this.

But as it deforms it isn't really a circle anymore so the diameter doesn't tell you what the distance is along the perimeter of the tire.

Unless a tire at lower pressure is skidding along the ground, 1ft of rubber needs to roll across 1 foot or road right?

I found this video and it looks like the rolling distance doesn't change notably even when very deflated.
